They completely forgot why people bought the amgs over m cars in the past. The AMG options were always for people that didn't need the most capable car, but rather the Wilder, livelier, and more dramatic V8 alternative.
That’s because BMW bumps the boost up on their turbos when you go in the launch mode. That advantage disappears on a roll. But the scenario was purely physics. That 4800 pound C-class couldn’t get out of its own way. There was a time the M3 was a great car.
Mercedes/AMG sure as hell didn’t insist on this underperforming, fat turd. They were 100% forced. Government regulations in Europe, China and the US forced this BS on us all. I have no doubt AMG would still be making v8 c63 if it wasn’t for government regulations strangling the ICE.

I had a C63S AMG Edition One with a stage 1 tune and it was amazing. Every time I got into that car it was an experience with that V8 BiTurbo screaming each time I’d stomp the pedal down. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see myself in the new version. A plug in hybrid with a 4 cylinder engine? No thanks. Upgraded to a 911 and left Mercedes in the rear view mirror.

Thanks guys. Another great video. The C63 is an INCREDIBLE car. For 10 seconds! After that the battery is dead. Its power drops from 500kw to 425kw. This result is no surprise. It’s power to weight after 10 seconds is worse than the old V8

But I’d never want to be lugging around an extra 900lbs which not only impacts acceleration but also braking and cornering abilities.

I’m just trying to remember when customers were calling for Mercedes to take the C 63 AMG and make it a 2 L turbo charged. I don’t understand why these people do that. Nobody wants a four-cylinder turbo charged hundred thousand dollar plus vehicle that gets its ass handed to it by a car with 100 less horsepower. They must have taken a page out of the dodge book.

No proper channel or journalists have done it properly. both hagerty and this channel have bizarrely chose to race the c63 against the waaaay more expensive m3cs like the m3 comp doesnt exist. no idea why all these "reputable" people are doing this. i think the difference between a comp and the c63s is about $9k where as this comparison the difference is $32k.
Have you seen what the Mercedes v8 e hybrid power train on other Mercedes cars? S63 SE, GT63 SE and the SL63 SE - they are all over $200k and faster than any other car. Mercedes couldn’t give this car the v8 and price it at $100k.
albeit that at the start of the release of any M3 there is always some critique, up until now BMW hasn't really ever made a "bad" M3, they're always fun and engaging machines to drive, with the CS/CSL (and some other more exotic iterations that were released in the past) being the little cherries on top.
Although that is true, a regular M3 comp xdrive would have been a better opponent since the Merc is all wheel drive and that M3 is not just less pricey that the AMG it came in even quicker than the CS
I love these races, I'd be interested to see them supplemented by a straight up roll race. I know in this case the BMW would still win, but id be curious to see by how much when you take the launch out of the equation
When carwow did 3 roll races between them, the C walked away from the M3 each time. So yeah, the C doesn't do well in a drag but from a roll it's a beast.

I love these vids but watching them brake through braking zone pains me to watch. They could have braked much later in the M3 CS…stand on those brakes as hard as you can, then release pressure to rebalance the car and enter the corner. 🙂

With a 913 pound weight difference between these two, predicting the outcome was an absolute no-brainer. Also, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the Bimmer's power rating is underrated, anyway.
The 4-cylinder hybrid doesn't make sense, but it makes way less sense considering it is 900 lbs heavier than the M3 and 800 lbs heavier Than the old V8 C63. The 4-cylinder C63 was lighter than the V8 C63, then they could make the argument that the weight savings helps it in corners and braking. But this C63 just makes no sense. Either pay like $30k less for a C43 if you want a speedy C-class or pay $10k less and get a CLE53 at at least get the inline six and a car that is 500 lbs lighter.

Why does everyone always test BMWs in the 4WD Sport setting? Countless tests have already shown that the fastest acceleration and lap times are achieved with the standard 4WD mode. Bmw m3 comp xdrive does 0-60 2.8 sec and 11.0 quarter mile. It would be the same result AMG loses.

Agree with most comments below. The C63s e performance will be the most heavily discounted AMG in Mercedes history. They will sit on dealers lots for way longer than moat AMGs. What were they thinking?

lol. only kids under 16 think BMW has 540 HP. Put it on Dyno,and If is not more than 650 HP,trust me, i will kill myself. My cousin has C63S E-Porformsnce and its absolutely beast. BMW always lie for HP and weight.

I love these vids but watching them brake through braking zone pains me to watch. They could have braked much later in the M3 CS…stand on those brakes as hard as you can, then release pressure to rebalance the car and enter the corner. 🙂

At any rate, I knew the Bimmer was going to take the win despite it's power deficit. With a 913 pound weight difference between these two, predicting the outcome was an absolute no-brainer. Also, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the Bimmer's power rating is underrated, anyway.

The 4-cylinder hybrid doesn't make sense, but it makes way less sense considering it is 900 lbs heavier than the M3 and 800 lbs heavier Than the old V8 C63. The 4-cylinder C63 was lighter than the V8 C63, then they could make the argument that the weight savings helps it in corners and braking. But this C63 just makes no sense. Either pay like $30k less for a C43 if you want a speedy C-class or pay $10k less and get a CLE53 at at least get the inline six and a car that is 500 lbs lighter.

Why does everyone always test BMWs in the 4WD Sport setting? Countless tests have already shown that the fastest acceleration and lap times are achieved with the standard 4WD mode. I've noticed multiple times that BMWs are unfairly disadvantaged this way. 4WD Sport is great for fun, but when it comes to setting the fastest times, it's slower.
Performance or Performance Art?: Mercedes might argue that their new C63 is all about the future, blending electric with combustion. But let's not kid ourselves; when you name something "Performance," it's expected to perform, not just look good on a spec sheet. The C63 is powerful, but they flopped on this one. I was at the Mercedes dealership yesterday and even the Mercedes sales person couldn’t hide that it wasn’t the right approach to the iconic C63.
