  • Sometimes you think you know a place just because you drive through it all the time. Ringwood on the edge of Hampshire's New Forest is just such a place, and yet it has great countryside walks.
On this walk we discover a little of Ringwood's history and heritage. We explore Ringwood town centre and then follow the old abandoned railway, Castleman's Corkscrew which was once part of the London to the South West mainline and discover many old railway artifacts along the way.
Entering the New Forest National Park , we make our way past chocolate box cottages to pick up the Avon valley Trail which roughly follows the course of the River Avon back into Ringwood and our welcome pub lunch.
Walk starts and finishes at the pretty thatched pub , The Fish Inn with it's riverside garden. 5 miles approximately.
