Yes I have many times as I drove truck for Barefield & Company out of Jackson Mississippi until 1981 , I drove all over Mississippi and to Gulf Port and Biloxi also ect... However I never much heard about prisons in Mississippi other than Parchman Prison when you are young and just turning 21 prison is the last thing on your mind I'm happy about this video because now I am aware and I know now.
Actually, there are cities within MS that are not rural. I invite you to research the cities of Tupelo, Madison, Jackson, Biloxi/Gulfport…just to name a FEW. The state is indeed know for rural areas. However, the entire state is not covered in Catfish Farms and agricultural spaces. 😊
I currently live in Ocean Springs, and I actually enjoy going across the bridge through Biloxi to Gulfport on I-90. I'm not saying that I would like to live anywhere off of I-49 but at least my drive is very pleasant. I'm looking to relocate, so any information is helpful.
I wasn't saying the whole state is rural with catfish farms all over, I was pointing to the Yazoo City area. I did some research on Jackson for this video and it looks like a place I would like to visit!

American slaves did nothing to earn their enslavement. The American justice system is badly flawed, but the vast majority of prisoners in the system are NOT innocent. You demean enslaved people when you compare them to convicted criminals.
I was incarcerated at the medium in 08. It’s prison but not as bad as federal prisons such as Pollock and Beaumont of which I was at both of those spots as well, with Pollock being the worst
@Cutthroat 5L - who TF you calling stupid!? No ONE pronounces that piece - Yahzoo - 99.9% of Mississippians call that piece - YEAH-zoo. You feeling spicy about it, come to Jackson and we can talk about it some more
Well that is 8 minutes and 49 seconds of my life I will never get back. So much incorrect information about the area of the State. No real information as to why this prison is " dangerous". Hell, all prisons are not for good people.
My dad spent 9yrs there for bank robbery, finished his education and taught cabinet making. He also was made foreman on rebuilding the library that burned during the riots a few decades ago. He was a new man when he got out. He was always very smart, an excellent architect...but just had a problem with gambling. It's an addiction. He was a more active dad and great grandfather to my kids too, unfortunately he passed away in 2010. I'll never forget looking forward to getting my letters from yazoo city Mississippi. ❤ We are all here to learn, not to judge. I loved my dad and miss him every single day!
Shittttt a lie....I been to every one of them facilities on that prison ground......even the camp .....trust me they there.....4 of them on the same ground
I'm from Yazoo..... I have relatives that work there. It's very hard to get hired there. Covid was a nightmare for the prison too..... it was AWFUL. But, YES, we have a Federal Prison.
Nice work enjoyed once again, never a disappointment when the 🆕 video alert pops up 💯 ...... Also when you get a chance maybe in the future take a peak at FCC Beaumont? Should Make for good one for us I believe... Thanks i always look forward to watching new videos from you...
You should research the escape from the “Connally Unit” in Texas. There’s a National Geographic show on it, but it’s very interesting. 6 men escaped about 20ish years ago in a pretty elaborate fashion.
@kylembeatty Simply Google the phrase, "The Texas Seven", and you will get some results. There were seven men that escaped, and all but two or three have been executed.
The low at Yazoo is pretty laid back with little to no politics(for better and for worse). With the lack of good paying jobs in the area lets just say plenty of CO's are complicit with making a side hustle with K2, cell phones, cigarettes, and Suboxone, and will often turn a blind eye to this as long as you don't put it in their face. The staff is laid back which is good if you wanna do your time, play some sports tickets, or do a little side hustling. The drawback is if you're trying to address a problem or deal with some legal work, or getting a medical issue looked at they'll move really slow...It's Mississippi after all...Nobody's ever in a hurry...All in all it's not bad, but it's still prison and you still have to have eyes in the back of your head
Have you ever traveled through Yazoo City? Let me know in the comments!
i was born and raised there

FCC Yazoo City is a federal facility that holds federal inmates.

Right! 63% of our state is still classified as a forest. 🤣 Imo, even Jackson has a rural feel. It feels country as hell in Jackson. Lol
