Obviously, they didn't write this, but you can believe these girls are students of music with their production company... you can hear this in their interviews of their songs that are throwback to the 1990s and 2000s... and their familiarity with artists of that era... I'm sure they are studying about rap, hip hop and more... they are amazing for their age, and give them time, they will be contributing to music production and lyrics, just like we've seen with other great groups, like BTS and Blackpink
Yea definitely given the time they're going to be writing their own stuff if they aren't already. They've definitely got that IT factor like BTS. Don't know about Black pink tho 😂. Reminder Black Pink are um very much manufactured by YG to their core idk if anything those girls do is genuinely them except maybe Rose with her solo that felt genuine. Anyway no shade to Black Pink but yea they're not in the same lane as BTS for sure.
@@tiffanykim2773 true tho I realy enjoy BP music, I associate XG more on how BTS genuinely study the musicians/artists roots they like, respect and adore. I felt the same something on XG when i first stanned BTS.
Yeah, XG has the same sense of musical authenticity as BTS's rap line when it comes to hip hop. They really know the genre and are dedicated to it, and it shines through in every performance.
@@tiffanykim2773 for what it’s worth, the first time I witnessed XG pre-debut, it gave me the same feelings I had when i first witnessed Blackpink. Putting HOW their music is produced aside, although I will say that as of now, XG has more in common than differences with Blackpink in that regard, both groups’ output/final product is of the same high quality and mass appeal. As soon as I saw XG, I thought to myself, “this group has the potential to touch Blackpink type numbers.” That was with only seeing Move #1, Vox #1, and Tape #1. And I still firmly believe that. Other groups that I put in that category, although to a lesser extent than I do with XG, are Le Sserafim and New Jeans. Regardless of individual skills and rankings in dance/rap/vocals of individual members, what all these groups have in common are HIGH QUALITY output in production and choreo with sounds, members, and concepts that can reach mass appeal.
Some of the most famous artists in history hardly ever wrote their own songs, what matters is they killed what was written for them.
Harvey's voice has become so iconic, I can't imagine a XG song without her.

As an old hip hop head, I enjoy XG’s project so much. Simon and the XGALX team are really giving the girls a deeeeeeep education. No chance they wrote their bars, but I agree that they did a helluva job delivering them, regardless. The future is looking bright for these girls.
Yah 100 percent, they started so early I hope they keep droppin mix tapes, and sharpen their pens to take over more of the writing.

It’s wild to see the difference between RUclips reactions and tiktok commentary and how different the opinions are. All these RUclipsrs love this while TikTok is freaking out saying that XG is apparently disrespecting hip hop and black culture lmao and I’m genuinely so confused by that. I’m just glad too see people like these guys and countless others not seeing race in this and just enjoying pure talent and old school hiphop within these young amazing women who just happen to be Japanese

imo these girls are appreciating hiphop as well as black culture. theyre proudly japanese/asian & arent afraid to show it either.
i also think that their english accents are jst affected by the music they surround themselves with, since most of them love r&b, hiphop, etc.
- for e.g. my cousin; who's first language isnt English; watched a lot aa centered TV shows growing up & this impacted his English accent, not becos "he wanted to be black/african american", but becos tht was the way he learned most of the English he knows now.
like i get that ppl would assume certain things but its a very closed minded argument, not everyone is out to get african americans & not everyone is trying to 'cosplay' either🤷🏽♀️

@@ma1ney don’t even have to say much u perfectly explained it. I’ve been a fan of them for a while and they just seem VERY influenced and look up to many artists who happen to be black women and hip hop and pop based artists - specifically old school eras, I’ve seen interviews and that’s who they always give credit too for their motivation. U can see how it translates through their clothes, raps, and overall vibe and ppl see that as disrespectful or appropriating- I see it as appreciation , I wish ppl just knew more about them rather then assuming and just seeing it such one sided. They really are so talented
@Cassy I can definitely see the issue with the hair, though it’s not direct copying certain culturally related hairstyles it’s definitely a soft influence of such - and it can definitely come off with little weird vibes. But I can see there’s no bad intentions on XGs part they just needa be more careful, but yes people take it so extra lmao. Glad u see the greatness in them despite that
People be sleeping on Maya. First Dreamville's Down Bad and now Cordae's? She literally took the cadence of each of these songs. From what I've seen, she's definitely the ace of the group 👀

When I discovered XG Cocana was my favorite but after delving deeper into their music Maya is definitely my favorite and the ace of the group.

I saw Cocona’s part first and couldn’t believe she was 16, but then when I started putting more respect on Maya’s verse and then started paying attention to her more in the videos, she became my bias. Watching her in the interviews and on their shows just solidified it for me lol

Jurin is stright fire too. Honestly its so hard to pick a favorite between Jurin, Maya and Cocona for me. Jurin dances like a master and her delivery is fire, Coconas swag is on a million and her delivery is left-eye ish amd thats fire to me, and you are 100 about Maya.

Watching the XG Documentary thats currently airing they trained for 5 yrs w/ dance vocals so im sure rapping is part of it. they were listening to old skool prior to training. As there idols & inspirations span from old to new in many genres. It shows they are students of Music in general

Honestly, I could believe it if they wrote parts of their bars. Especially after seeing all songs they have on their playlists. Like, Maya be listening to Tevin Campbell? Jurin listens to Nujabes? Hinata and Aaliyah? Harvey and Duckwrth? Juria and Lucky Daye?
Their music tastes are immaculate. I can 100% see them putting together these kinds of bars with such a diverse musical taste.

Nope. Sorry. Other than Maya, none of them are fluent. There’s a zero percent chance that Harvey wrote “rat race funny when hoggin all the cheese.” Zero percent chance Jurin wrote “make ‘em baboons squab and babble.” Zero percent chance Cocona wrote “they don’t know about that old school smoke, no Joe Camel.” XG is dope as they are. The truth is spectacular enough. No need for embellishments.
@@Organized82 you know you can write something in your native language, then translate it, and then have someone help you put in equivalent metaphors right? Not saying they completely wrote the lyrics. But its unbelievable to say that with such a diverse musical taste, that they WOULDN'T put in references to all the different songs they listen to into the lyrics to convey their personality.
@@Bran-ll5sr that’s possible, but do you think that’s what people mean when they ask “do they write their own bars?” No. In hip hop, you write your own bars or you don’t. None of this “oh here are my ideas…” nonsense. Nothing against the girls, they’re great at what they do and I don’t take away anything from them. But if they were really that heavily involved or actually wrote their own bars, they would lead with that info every chance they had, in every interview. The company would definitely highlight that aspect non-stop. The fact that they don’t, tells you everything you need to know. XG is amazing..the truth about them is spectacular enough. There’s no need to embellish anything or repeating stuff you want to be true when there’s no evidence supporting it.

He's just saying that he's the same Japanese...
The lyrics was written by them but led by their rap director, David Kim aka Day Day, who I think writes most of them. He is a close friend of Simon during Simon's K-idol days. If I'm not mistaken, both Simon and David were trained together. However, David debuted first in Dalmatian/DMTN but idol life did not suit him so he pulled out from the group and Simon came in. From then on, David worked as a rap director/trainer. When Simon started his company, he called David and without any question David agreed to help him.

The girls gave props to Anderson Paak and Cordae in the video. Harvey's line: 다시 또 본때를 보여줘 paak'dae 곡에 대박행 'Show me your true self again, hit the jackpot with the Paak'dae song.' I'm happy that Cordea thought the song was fire!

I hate that they are starting to get hate from black people. Like I understand hip hop and rap originated with black people but theres nothing wrong with others participating as long as they are appreciating and treating the craft respectfully. I love how much fun they have and how the team really seems to respect hip hop even without the ladies writing their own raps (there's no way these references are theirs AND THAT'S PERFECTLY OK). I do think Simon and the team should be more forthcoming about who is writing them ESPECIALLY their mixtapes because it would give the ladies more credibility and authenticity and not give steam to things that haters could use against them. As always thanks for supporting the ladies of XG. Since this was released, a lot of trolls and haters jumped in and attacking Harvey the most. No thanks to Andrew Paak who disrespected it when Dem Jointz tagged him. While Dem Jointz and Cordae gave props to the girls. The trolls are saying that these 2 new xyphers are a CA and AAVE type. I’m just glad you guys see it differently, thank you. Bet they have not seen tape 1 and 2, so pathetic. Paak since deleted his 🤦🏻♂️ comment in either twitter or instagram. Goes to show he knew he effed up.

Just wanted to say that you guys have definitely (on a grassroots level) helped build the popularity of these young lady's. Love your segments - keep up the good work gentlemen.
Given all the references in this and #3-B, I'm fairly sure "two twins or cool kids" was actually a shoutout to The Cool Kids which is a true Millennial indie rap deep cut and I'm blown away; most American fans of rap and hip hop that I've mentioned them to have never even heard of them. I'm so into XG, can't wait to say I was an early adopter when they get huge (they just had a video with Cosmopolitan so I'm guessing very soon.)

Great reaction, fellas. They are really on the come up to turn a phrase. These girs are on fire and it is good to see them pay homage to Hip Hop, not like most KPop where the use Hip Hop without paying homage to the foundation.
