Hi I see you done some experiments - I am arcade engineer and we have poorly Racing Jam 2 and Thrill Drive 2 (viper), what did spec did you run this on? and did u just delete files or alter the source? and is this aviwrite which works better

@@DaveRepairs Hello you are very lucky to have these original arcade terminals these are very difficult games to find in arcades unfortunately. For my tests I used this special Konami viper build.

I have not tested aviwrite which is not included in this version of mame it will hopefully be supported in future builds

@@arcadegamesoldschool9601 Cool - are the guy who been helping VGE RUclips channel, he mention few times that a dev has been doing his own build and has interest in these games.
Yeah we are watching the viper and RJ2, I just acquired some more RJ2 boards as they have twin 3DFX chip sets, quite a beast.
Our big problem right now is the machines are broken, so my colleague would love to MAME these cabinets but software is not there yet and Networking (two player) will be another issue.
Good progress, is you computer fast processor ? 5Ghz Intel or Ryzen? what is the spec? Mame seems to be single threaded and its a shame as you dont get good core speeed.

@@DaveRepairs Yes indeed this work comes from members of the VGE Discord the progress has been dazzling they have done a great job. It is not yet perfect but it has progressed well because this Konami viper System is really complex and complicated. I have been looking for this game in the arcade for years and it is nowhere to be found here so I was really happy that this work was published and I can't wait to test the next builds. @@arcadegamesoldschool9601 Aha he did mention you, we chatted a bit.. I work with Timewarp Arcade in the UK.. The Viper sadly gets too hot and pops the BGA balls under the chip and die... we had about 3-4 units that failed for Thrill Drive 2. We just got 2 sets of 676 > 888 and will be testing RJ2 this week i suspect.
Very rare games here in the UK but I been looking out for them

@@DaveRepairs If you can make it work, make a video, I'm interested to see. The problem with these old rare systems is that when they break down, and it happens often, they are difficult to repair. That's why emulation is very important to preserve these good old games that can't be found anywhere except in Japan. I know collectors here in France who have a very nice collection of old arcade machines
