Best Mind Mapping Software

- Here's my all-time BEST mind mapping software tool. This mind mapping app is super powerful and can be used for free (I contacted and verified this with Xmind support). Check this out.
I have been using mind mapping tools for brainstorming and organising my day and my projects for years now, and nothing comes close to this software.
The incredible thing is that you can use it for free.
There's also a pinned comment with the response I received from Xmind confirming how to use the software for free.
This video tutorial includes:
▶ a step by step explanation of the mind mapping software.
▶ how I use it (with an example).
▶ handy tips for creating your mind maps super fast.
▶ And here is a free tutorial series on how to use Xmind 8: • Xmind 8 Tutorial - Int...
One of my favourite tools for brainstorming ideas is mind mapping. I often publish mind mapping tutorials, review mind map software tools and compare them against each other so you can make better decisions when it comes to choosing one of these great productivity apps.
Mind mapping (invented by Tony Buzan) is one of the best tools for strategic planning and project management. This is how I plan my projects and most of my day to day stuff.
Enjoy!
PS Please Like this video and leave me a comment or ask me anything if I can help you in any way (or just say Hi!).

FROM XMIND SUPPORT: To use Xmind 8 for FREE: JUST DOWNLOAD XMIND 8 (NOT ZEN) AND DON’T ACTIVATE IT: THAT WAY IT STAYS FREE.

"XMind Free" forever and the paid features are unavailable. Once
activating XMind Pro/Plus, you can access the Pro/Plus features."

I downloaded the app, and it says I have 7 days remaining of the trial version. It seems that it used to be a free app for an indefinite amount of time; however, that has changed. Oh, I'm talking about the Mac version.
In your video, you are adding tasks, however in the free version, tasks are not included. It's telling me Task (Pro) Are you illustrating with the free version or paid? Apologies if you already answered this question. Thanks.
Hey James,
Do you mean the task progress icons?
Xmind have packages that you can download and import into the software. I think I found and installed some packs when I first started using it (I forgot about that).
Try these:

Let me know if any of those packs help

NOTE: If you use the free trail version there is a large "TRIAL MODE" banner when you save the file or want to share it
Hi Dhruva, I haven't noticed that on mine. That said, the free version is not meant for sharing. Thanks for your comment.
Love it. Very useful and fantastic.
Excellent!
Thank you so much for this, been looking for a good free mindmap software all day and this one seems like a killer. giving it a try right now very easy to use and it's work very well.
Awesome - I've been using it for many years now and I still use it a few times a week to plan.
Thanks for taking the time!
Hoz
is there a way to duplicate a mind map that i build ? i build a template of one of my project and i would like to duplicate it before working on it. also, how exactly do you proceed to get a shareable version of a mindmap if you want to send it to someone ? Thank's hoz
I don't think you can duplicate a minmap on the free version. To send it to somebody, you'll need to export it (File / Export) as an image (you can then embed the image into a doc and save it as a PDF). Sharing is only enabled on the paid version.
For reference: here's the training page with videos explaining how to use it: www.xmind.net/demos/
Good luck!
Hoz
Thanks for the recommendation.
You're very welcome Michelle!
Hoz
Hey Michelle. I’ve never tried those things, only attaching notes. I imagine attaching other media should work. Let me know if you try it how you go - I’ll try to check when I have access to my laptop.
The one I use on desktop is Xmind - I just use it for brainstorming though.. please check out my mind mapping channel (mind mapping with hoz) - a I’ll be reviewing quite a few tools very soon so I will add your points to my list.
You’re very welcome!

Great piece of software for free, quickly noticed however that you can't link to local files on free version, so if you want to link your mind maps to other mind maps, for instance a more detailed breakdown of that particular branch; with this piece of software you would have to have the paid version ($60 a year). It's a very nice friendly and easy to use program but ultimately this feature is quite an essential one for me, so the search continues. Great introduction to the software, really enjoyed the video and for certain people will watch this video and find exactly what they need.
Hi Robert, thanks for that. Check out the video on how to create mid maps on Google drive ( ruclips.net/video/AT8wDCndaTI/видео.html ) - there's a ton of different mind mapping tools that you can use there, and I'm hoping there's one there that will do exactly what you need.
Let me know if you go!
@@theycallmehoz Certainly will! Thanks very much... Keep making the videos, the content is really enjoyable - subed
Sucks that I can't share a link to my mind map with someone unless I'm a subscriber, but I can certainly appreciate why.
It's such a useful tool for businesses that they'd need to charge as they are a company. It's awesome that they do this for us to be able to use this part for free because I can already see how useful this tool is.
Cool software. You hooked me.
Good to hear :)
Please do share if you have any updated video on mind mapping. I love reading books but then i forget very quickly. I believe mind mapping will help me in making notes to revise. Thank you Sir
Hi Imran,
You're right: mind mapping will help you. I make notes about anything new I learn and I put them away, knowing that I can always go back weeks or months later and spend a few minutes reading those notes and quickly getting back up to speed.
Mind mapping is a great way to make notes, as you say. You can separate the categories into 'bubbles' in your mind map so you can very quickly find the information you need.
Great idea Imran - thanks for sharing!
PS I will publish a follow up soon - so keep watching.
Hoz
Thank you for your reply. Would be wonderful if next time if you can explain bit about taking printout of mind map. I have realized when you take printout it comes very small and usually not properly aligned. Thank you & Regards

Love the Harvey Balls to show progress
Hello Hoz, many thanks for this video. I was comparing several mind maps: xMind, miMind, Mindly and Mindomo. This one looks interesting. I tried a mobile version and to insert Gallery picture it asks paid subscription. Other 2 questions Hoz:
-if I save a copy in pdf format the "attachements" (texts...) do not show up, only the icons. Can the entire unfolded map get transferred into pdf or another file
-is there a way to have access to these maps from no matter what computer/smartphone through an account - just like google drive or Dropbox?
Many thanks Hoz for all your help.
Christophe
Hey Chris, you're very welcome! The free version doesn't print PDFs (unless they've changed that). There is a workaround in the free training series (link in the description).
Re the second question: XMind for Mobile version allows you access to your mind maps - but I think that's a paid app. See here: www.xmind.net/mobile/
I hope that helps you

thank you for sharing
You're very welcome Omer! And thanks for taking the time to comment.

You're welcome Abdullah!
They Call Me Hoz It's just missing cloud integration access multiple devices. It would be good if I can continue my work on any device without having the need to share the project file
@@algheithi2 Hey Abdullah. Xmind Zen may be a better solution for you but that's a monthly subscription. There's also Coggle, which is browser based, so that could work, and it's free.
I explain both in the videos below:
* Xmind Zen: ruclips.net/video/GsIA3gYXybU/видео.html
* Coggle review: ruclips.net/video/gdisAoy-4nM/видео.html
* Coggle tutorial: ruclips.net/video/YdRaQHkwQHs/видео.html

They Call Me Hoz Thanks again, I thought XMind Zen is standalone version! They are not saying in the website it can sync mindmaps the cloud server!
@@algheithi2 Hi Abdullah, Zen is the subscripton version, which allows for sharing and team work.
Did you mean synch mind maps to your own server? I misunderstood that to mean their cloud server.
You could always ask Xmind support, but I'm not really sure they can do that.
Bro srsly: thanks. This program is perfect
You’re very welcome!
There’s a full tutorial on how to use it in my playlists / let me know if you need a link
Thanks so much for these videos Hoz (and love that Accent!) I just discovered mindmapping a few days ago, and agree that XMind is probably the Best!
But, I'm gonna have to (grudgingly) go with MindMup for only One reason: Instant (and easy) Access across Multiple Platforms. Desktop / Mobile / Online.
It's So Ugly though - and not very sophisticated. But that ability to instantly access and edit the Maps Anywhere, anytime, is truly amazing.
(Also, a bonus is being able to Share a Link to a Map with Anyone, and have them interact with it - - collapse and expand Nodes, and Notes, etc. ---- That Really comes in Handy. )
Q. is there any way to similarly work cross-platform with Xmind? (i.e., begin a map at home, then edit/update/view while you're on the road with a phone, etc.) I could research the details, if at least I knew a general direction. ?? Thx.,
Hey You2099 - thank you and you're very welcome. Funny enough I'm in the middle of playing with 3 other mind mapping tools (one of them is MindMup). Xmind is a mature tool, but the free tool is essentially a desktop tool. For those on-the-go edits you really need a cloud-based tool like MindMup (or Xmind Zen, which is the subscription tool). But yes, keep an eye for the upcoming mind mapping tool reviews (there's about 3 or 4 other tools that I'll talk about first, but I'll try to get a couple of the mind mapping tool reviews done and live ASAP.
Thanks! And no pressure. Whenever you can get to it is alright.
You're welcome!
Wow. This is awesome :)
