This is how Gecko Moria reads in the main story. If Kaido were to kill Luffy’s crew(like he did Moria’s), he would be broken and become one of the goofy deadbeat villains with no real drive imposing their power onto those weaker than them.
Its the same as how Arlong got so broken by the human world he projected the methods the Celestials do with slave trade in Shaboady on Nami's home island
Some of the One Piece stories just really hit hard. This one especially. Tesoro wasn't an enemy because he wanted to be. He was just a product of society...
I appreciate that a lot! For me, the backstory did what it was supposed to do, but I wish there was more focus on it because of what it caused Tesoro to do; and how it caused Tesoro to change into this monster of a man. Although it was only a small flashback, it made an impact on me; but I definitely see your point and I can agree. Truly could’ve been more screen time devoted to his past, and it would’ve hit the audience much harder.
The song is only one line, but its become one of my all time favorites. An Gild has become one of the more compelling villains for me, even if he is not canon to the main material. He is canon to me and that is all that matters. Just goes to show that not everyone is born bad, something happened to them to make them that way.
Very very true: bad things can sometimes cause good people to do bad in turn. And I agree, Tesoro is honestly the best movie villain, an incredibly detailed backstory with depth and layers to it; he’s also canon to me, him and Stella are canon in my heart; I want them to have their happy ending 😞 Also there’s more to the full song btw! This is just a slowed down snippet from a song; the full song is “Pluto Projector” by Rex Orange County!
I rewatch this edit all the time. I associate some strong emotions outside of the sadness of Gild Tesoro. I watched this at a huge turning point in my life, and this song and specific video makes me think about them. That being said, the way this video was edited is simply unforgettable. You could feel the pain and sadness, as if it was right in front of you and was palpable. Tesoro is such a tragic villain/person, he endured unimaginable suffering and pain. What makes it sad is that his over reliance on gold and monetary value is very telling of his deeply he still hurts. All these riches he’s made are all an attempt to find some semblance of hope and shed that weakness he had before. He clings onto it, in the hopes that he’d have enough money and fame to make up for the losses he suffered. He’s a classic textbook example of a tragic villain, and this video beautifully illustrates that. Bravo for making such an emotional piece on something so tragic and heartbreaking. Your video means a lot to me.
Holy shit I’m just seeing this comment now, I truly appreciate every word in your comment, and I agree ten million percent with what you say here about Tesoro. Film Gold was what got me into One Piece & I started reading it afterwards. Also Tesoro & Stella’s backstory moved me to tears upon first viewing, the only other OP film to drive me to tears was film red. But Tesoro has stuck with me ever since, and the pain and suffering he has endured, but is never fully shown. I’m highkey obsessed with Tesoro’s character and with the film, I could write a thesis on him & Stella, what they could’ve had, if she survived, the psychological hurdles they would have to endure. I could probably psychologically diagnose this man with how much research I’ve done on his character LMAOOO Also just the fact alone that Tesoro puts up this pompous and jovial front, when you KNOW, he is a lonely, miserable, deeply traumatized (& most definitely depressed) man. He never got over Stella’s death, his star motif and his show being called the “Gold Stella Show” are proof of that. Another tell that is overlooked is that all three of Tesoro’s pool girls have Stella’s features/resemble Stella in some way. He’s trying to recapture the feeling of being so deeply in love with Stella that he finds women that look like her to feel something akin to genuine love once again. Tesoro never left that feeling of despair he so happily likes to taunt others with, so he wants others to feel his pain; masking it with wanting to give others happiness. Tesoro is the epitome of the phrase “it’s lonely at the top.” But I’m so glad this little side project that I made during the pandemic has resonated with you and so many others, and I can share my love for Tesoro & Stella, show their very short lived story through this medium!
Literally every villain in One Piece besides BB is a result of the Celestials. Kaido got sold as a young teen, Doflamingo got outed from Marijoa, the Fishmen were abused leading to guys like Arlong, and even the movie villains also fall into this category. Heck, in the time of this comment, we’re currently watching an admiral having a silent breakdown as he fights himself over following Saint Saturn and being the Admiral that he is, or not killing the family he built along the way, in the vocabulary of Luffy, the killing of his own crewmates.
what got me the most when I watched Film: Gold was just seeing Stella's smile as she's being dragged away from Tesoro at the human shop, and he named his show/game Cold Stella
most of the outlaws are the good guys lol. I mean it is a show where the mcs are pirates. Another thing is, the one piece world is just a reflection of our own world in a way. the sick and twisted stuff that occur like slavery in the one piece world, happen every day in our world. theres also the fact that much much worse things happen in our world. that makes me feel even worse
Tbf in a world where an oppressive regime have ruled over the world with so much incompetence in a millennium, the people who seeks out greater freedom to the point it is chaotic can be seen as decent folks. But honestly the only ones truly morally good in one piece are the revolutionaries.
@@griffinhead9218 i think most outlaws in the one piece world are just bad people, Luffy and the crew are considered the outliers, if they were just like any other crew, someone like Smoker or even Garp wouldn’t hesitate to go and catch them, this is why people like Kidd and Moria go through such terrible situations to go through, its entirely self caused.
This makes me wish Tesoro was canon to the main one piece plot. Oda really knows how to flesh out a villian with perfection with just a movie but whats more impressive is that you summarized this villians suffering and motives in just 1 minute, i really felt Tesoros pain.
FR, I have a little Alternate Universe where Stella lived, Tesoro gives up the crime and runs Gran Tesoro like a regular business, no indentured servitude, no conning people out of money; and at some point he makes amends with the Revolutionary Army and even joins their ranks; Gran Tesoro becoming a sort of traveling safe haven while still being an entertainment/gambling city. Just for fun and because I want Tesoro & Stella to be happy (maybe even get some revenge on the Celestial Dragons that hurt them so deeply)
I feel like the movie could’ve happened in the main story. It’s not too far fetched of an idea. It happens after dressrosa, Tesoro was a partner of doflamingo and this could’ve just happened somewhere after the arc.
There is something i admire of most of the op villains, without counting their crimes... The determination and inner streight they got to climb from nothing to almost the top
The tragedy being that the only one who could’ve ever changed Tesoro back to the decent person he once was is Stella who’s no longer with us and that no amount of gold no amount of money or material wealth that Tesoro has now could ever bring her back
I hope I’m sitting in my arm chair when I’m 80 and one of my grandchildren walks over and says “what’s that tattoo on your arm”. And I get to tell them all the great adventures of the Strawhats…🥺 And just see their faces light up listening to the greatest story ever told 💛

Oh now i see the mermaid Island destruction as what would've happened if they had killed a mugiwara
That is literally the motives of the final war in one piece
The backstory of Tesoro hurts like hell
It does; I can’t help to sympathize with him so much like I just want Tesoro & Stella to be happy together 😞
It’s true… devil fruits are dreams of a person and it finds their owner themselves
Some of the One Piece stories just really hit hard. This one especially. Tesoro wasn't an enemy because he wanted to be. He was just a product of society...
Thank you very much for making this! This video made way more of an emotional impact for me on Tesoro’s backstory than the actual movie!
And I agree, Tesoro is honestly the best movie villain, an incredibly detailed backstory with depth and layers to it; he’s also canon to me, him and Stella are canon in my heart; I want them to have their happy ending 😞
Also there’s more to the full song btw! This is just a slowed down snippet from a song; the full song is “Pluto Projector” by Rex Orange County!
No the song is longer than one line its Pluto projector by Rex Orange County
@@mckzief8518 I think he means Tesoro singing
No one born bad lmao.
Childlike dreams paired with adult like themes make fantastic scenes that makes my eyes stream
Bro this is a complete masterpiece. Keep up the good work
I rewatch this edit all the time.
Bro same it’s fuckin beautiful 😢
@@arsene2443 I’m glad we can agree Shrek Harvey
@@jessepikmin3576 Shrek Harvey always agree with wisdom
@@arsene2443 thank you sir, you are truly special
I could probably psychologically diagnose this man with how much research I’ve done on his character LMAOOO
Also just the fact alone that Tesoro puts up this pompous and jovial front, when you KNOW, he is a lonely, miserable, deeply traumatized (& most definitely depressed) man.
Tesoro is the epitome of the phrase “it’s lonely at the top.”
But I’m so glad this little side project that I made during the pandemic has resonated with you and so many others, and I can share my love for Tesoro & Stella, show their very short lived story through this medium!
It fits so well it feels illegal to watch the original without this edit now.
when you understand, that tesoro didn't have enough money to buy Stella, and his devil fruit power is to create and control gold
Now he had all the money he could ever want and could never buy Stella.
Big Mom was getting sold to the World Government at 6 years old😢
what got me the most when I watched Film: Gold was just seeing Stella's smile as she's being dragged away from Tesoro at the human shop, and he named his show/game Cold Stella
One Piece world is so fucked up it makes me felt that the outlaws were the decent one
Well, it kinda is
most of the outlaws are the good guys lol.
A kingdom made out of gold and a broken past
Tesoro's backstory wasnt even shown all too much but ive seen already seen enough to make me deppressed-
I feel like the movie could’ve happened in the main story. It’s not too far fetched of an idea. It happens after dressrosa, Tesoro was a partner of doflamingo and this could’ve just happened somewhere after the arc.
So true
That doesn't sound bad at all
No matter how much gold you have, you cant bring back the loved ones
There is something i admire of most of the op villains, without counting their crimes... The determination and inner streight they got to climb from nothing to almost the top
The fact that Oda had this tragic villain as just a movie villain is testament to how great his writing is
i've been watching this atleast 100 times, like this edit is so good
The celestial dragons have caused so much pain to so many people
When I saw this scene in the theatre I knew that this movie was going to end with a standing ovation and it did.
dangit the editing was so good😢
The tragedy being that the only one who could’ve ever changed Tesoro back to the decent person he once was is Stella who’s no longer with us and that no amount of gold no amount of money or material wealth that Tesoro has now could ever bring her back
one piece gold will always remain as my most favorite One Piece Movie
its one piece grand line and im shedding alot of my tears
One of the saddest amv ever created about OP 😭 really great work👏i always cry when i rewatch it
I hope I’m sitting in my arm chair when I’m 80 and one of my grandchildren walks over and says “what’s that tattoo on your arm”. And I get to tell them all the great adventures of the Strawhats…🥺 And just see their faces light up listening to the greatest story ever told 💛
He, too, was praying for liberation
I just noticed, at 0:42, he literally named the show after her in her honor. Also, most likely his name is added, Gild=Gold.
Welp... In that case
Gol D Tesoro
No shit Sherlock
Bro casually dropped of of the best edits I've ever seen
This made me rewatch Gold its such a nice movie
0:21 he looks so much like Ace it's creepyl
Oda when it comes to reusing faces
@@godspeed4225let's not act like it's unique to Oda, many mangaka (or artists in general) will use the same facial features for most of their characters. I mean, look at DBZ for example, a lot of characters have the same facial traits. It's very common honestly, and there is nothing wrong with that, as long as the characters are distinguishable from each other.
@@Kuch303 All good, i wasn't really serious Lol i love oda and one piece
@@godspeed4225 Yeah it's cool, i'm sorry if i seemed aggro, that was not my intention. it's just something i see from time to time that kinda triggers me. I love One Piece too, it's peak.
@@Kuch303 You're good, no worries

Thank you!! ❤️
He is like an alternative doflamingo
One piece flashbacks just hit different
Zephyr and Tesoro, its a wasted potential that these both are non-canon villains
I recently watched The Great Gatsby for the first time and this give same kind of vibe as that movie. Highly recommend people to watch that movie.
Nobody knows the meaning of despair until you lose everything. And when you think it will come back to you, it just disappears again.
That is despair.
Yeah jus like tesoro
When he sees himself in Luffy protecting Nami. He became the very thing he fought against.
"Human shop" is crazy work
Don’t worry boys we’re in the final saga. We’re going to see the celestial dragons lose everything… within a decade lol.
This song hits hard bro...
This reminds me how one piece is the best & how it touches every aspect of world.
I keep on watching this and I can’t stop
The movie should have spent more substantial time telling Tesoro's story instead of so much casino filler, most people who watched it barely caught the backstory bc it was so badly placed and only lasted like a couple seconds
I think exactly the same!! It looked so interesting too...
I actually kinda like it. Shows how far Tesoro burried these feelings and memories away under his obsession with gold and control.
"Villian are not born they are made"
Now he got ALL THE MONEY he ever wanted, but its too late to save her 😢
Beautiful
One piece is actually one of the saddest stories.
sad story all he wanted was freedom and love... and both those things got taken away from him way too early and way too easily
Amazing edit im usually really annoyed by 9/10 or these edit but this is easily one of the best i ever seen
If only this guy joined the revolutionary army and help fund their operation the plan to overthrow the celestial dragons wouldn't have taken so long
Celestial dragons are some of the GOAT hated ppl in all of anime. Like lowkey more evil than Griffith imo which is crazy to think about
it really bursts me into tears ;-; such a great job u have done
Villains aren't born villains, they are just made villains
Would love to see few chapters dedicated to Blackbeard going on a celestial massacre...
He is the second most hated guy in my list, just under akainu... However, he doesn't need a sad backstory, if oda decided to do som AOT massacre with him, he will be in my top 5 favs in OP
How can anyone hate/dislike one piece with lore like this sure pacing is understandable but thats no reason to miss out on a master piece like this
@@jay-jayrobberts7533 tbh the people that fully dislike OP are mainly people who haven’t given it a chance. I used to be one of those people, didn’t understand the hype. My childhood best friend got into it & I just didn’t get it. But I’m so glad I gave it a chance!
I swear to god, if One Piece doesn‘t end with the Celestial Dragons being brutally killed, tortured or at least some form of fitting consequence and instead Oda pulls out a „suddenly they changed and became good people“ I will loose my shit. There are some things that there is no coming back from and the CD are speedrunning these
The average background character's lore in One Piece being deeper than any other protagonist of any story ever:
Total Celestial Dragon death
That's kind of the beauty of the one piece world.. There's hope so there is despair as well,
He became the same thing he hate.
So true, it’s sad that many people become like this in real life too
And building a ego to protect yourself. But it will never be an excuse for being terrible.
This gives me the chills
Celestial dragons…
The worst man
best written one piece villain, change my mind.
Huh, meanwhile people saying one piece is not for adults, god i remember i was so sad for him, practically everyone had such bad lives in one piece I'm s sad for almost everyone, only the d**kish ones didn't have a bad life
World is always like "I'm gonna make you suffer enough to make you mad, than I will say you're a crazy monster" lol
Oh no you'll still be a crazy monster but the world's not responsible just specific assholes.
Bro it makes me so happy to see no one's hating cuz it's dub😁
Also the film Gold dub wasn’t bad, and Keith Silverstein did amazing as Tesoro (better than the Japanese VA imo) and deserves some recognition for it
@@spookyhead887 yeah he's one of my fav va
This made me watch the movie such a sad character he has everything he could ever ask for except the love of his life
