SH1 Ashley Bridge could do with the improvement they did for the Rangiora Ashley bridge. The company that did that were very effective. Build the new bridge while old one keeps working - minimise disruption.
Tractor seems to have had a blow out on the left front. Nothing to do with it being a tractor. If you closed bridges in Canterbury for tractors, especially in Spring / Summer, the economy would collapse...
@@oggaBugga The blow-out was possibly caused by the tractor hitting the side of the bridge after the collision. I wouldn't mind betting the collision was caused by the ute driver being too impatient to slow down when he or she saw the wide tractor coming the other way on what is clearly a narrow, two-lane bridge. I see a lot of road rage and poor driving in Wairarapa, where I live, at this time of year when agricultural contractors are moving their tractors and other specialist equipment around from one job to the next and motorists with entitled attitudes get impatient.
@@robertscott4759 The tyre was near non existent as the tractor was moving away from the point of impact, with no trace of tyre on the road near the point of impact... The Ashley river bridge is no different to the Rakaia bridge, other than being much shorter. Ute driver was not at fault.

The helicopter dub is pretty stupid - especially when applied to video from a road vehicle
time to lose it
Looks like the bridge should have been closed for the tractor to go across. I don't think this is the first tractor accident of its type on a bridge.

@@oggaBugga You can clearly see in the video where the tractor hit the side of the bridge, munting it. It was clearly a decent impact.
@@robertscott4759 Yes...And where do you think the mower on the rear to the tractor is going to go???
