Oregon government is a business. Problems create wealth transfer. Fixing problems do not. In this state, 3% of the money goes to the problem, 97% of the money goes to the administration of solving "the problem" Good Luck
I wouldn’t call them “economic leaders “. Economic leaders would be someone who actually does something purposeful with money where we see a return on investment. Dumping money into the homelessness has been a huge failure. With no return on investment, similar to taxes.
I want to know whose bright idea it was to “improve” the streets here in NE Portland when they can’t even fill in the potholes! Those fancy curbs and islands aren’t cheap. Not to mention all the bike projects that nobody uses. What’s up with the arts tax? I’m getting charged every year while many other people I know seem to fly under the radar. Seems like we have a bunch of out of touch chuckleheads in local government.
This segment should be required viewing by all our public officials. A requirement for local government offices in Continuing education would have a yearly review in order to make necessary changes.
My comments are being censored..What I have been saying over and over again is no one wants to live in a never ending CRISIS state, who invite drug addict homeless to suck out their taxes
"Why is this happening? The most ignorant comment I have heard all week. Thats why the entire city is out of touch including news media. It's a disaster that's why. Who in their right mind would want to move here. Thankful I'm 20 miles outside of downtown and it still isn't nearly far enough.

Straight talk is that I live in multnomah county and pay the highest taxes in the country but when I call 911 for an ambulance I get put on hold because none are available and instead of the county chair allowing the ambulance company to temporarily change their system to fix it she spends 167k on a consultant to “figure it out”. And it’s not just multnomah county that is dysfunctional, the whole state from top to bottom is riddled with dysfunction. Now take all the dysfunction and throw in measure 110 and you have the mess that is Oregon. Who would want to live here? Raise children here? My one mission in life now is to get my family out of Oregon.

Too many taxes, housing too much, food too expensive and we raise the wage only too increase everything else. Most people are one paycheck away, one illness or injury away from being homeless.
A lot of the homes in Portland need to be revalued for their value as property. in Portland there are alot of homes. that were built before the 50s on the market that have not been properly up kept but, yet want the highest value in property. The majority of "first time buyer houses " were built in the 1900s-1950 same Plumbing same wiring same insulation same home construction of those errors. Are on the market top property value $400.00 up
The Taxes blow and go nowhere, utilities are up 18%+, and wages aren’t catching up. This place sucks.
The utilities increase is very real. Like when Waste Management (arrow) decided to pick up trash 1/2 the amount and keep rates the same.
The world sucks in that department...
Simple answer move!

Not voting for new taxes or bonds until Portland and Multnomah county can manage what they have now.
With a 17.2% utilities increase, how can we expect business to grow here?

At least the Mayor isn't running for re election
Stop charging an "art tax." Where does that even go? Art is not a high priority right now. My rent keeps going up - yet the property is shyt.

Stop allowing rent to go up every year when incomes don't!!! Legislate rent freezes!!

We all know, they build affordable low income housing and right before it’s completed, they sell it and charge Reg prices

because capitalism relies on infinite growth.

I’m sure the sky high taxes and battle against businesses and property owners instead of criminals isn’t the reason investors and families want out.
Three reasons
Multi national corporations speculation in housing market
Too many poor/homeless people moving here
Inflation 😮
and a city government that wants absolutely nothing happening unless they can tax 40 percent.
