This lovely traffic-free cycling and walking path travels through beautiful countryside between Market Harborough and Northampton. With views of the surrounding landscapes and opportunities to visit local attractions, the Brampton Valley Way makes for the perfect family day out.
The route follows one of the longest dismantled railway paths in the country and was opened for recreational use in 1993.
Starting in Market Harborough at the southern end of Britannia Walk, the path runs alongside Oaklands Park and after crossing Scotland Road you soon reach rolling, open countryside. Then you’ll begin to climb gently to the marvellously spooky Oxenden tunnel (please use your lights) before crossing the flat valley of the little River Ise.
From this point there are two detours where you can opt to visit local attractions such as Kelmarsh Hall, Brixworth Country Park and Lamport Steam Railway.
