Denmark here ...I earn around $255 to $360 a day, depending on the hours and day of the week, and my present part-time job as a night watch with no degree required (though I do have one) is nothing fancy. In comparison a security guard with 4-5 years experience like me, earn 23,400 rubles = around $253 a month, So I earn more in a day than they do in a month.
It doesn't make sense to compare how much you spend for buying products. You should calculate your % of costs from your average monthly salary. Ex, in the US you earn 5000$ but you spend 20% of you income for grocery. In Russia you earn 1000$ for example, and if you also spend 20% or even less, then your costs for groceries are the same in both countries. So there is no sense to compare incomes and prices. You should compare percentage of costs from your salary for basic things. Same for internet payments, rent payments, etc.
Notice that if the economy in Russia was functioning, perhaps there would be lots of people in the stagecraft prop grocery store? They lock up Russian civilians for saying anything factual about Russia's failed economy. If McDonald's can't operate in Russia to make money due to exchange rates of the worthless ruble, what better ran company in the world is an example of Putin's incompetence?

Rich folks live in a money filled bubble that makes it hard to sympathize with poor folks, like this following conversation that took place in the 70s involving some rich wives… “Poor dear, her divorce didn’t go well, she only gets $20,000 a month in alimony!”….”really?! How will she live on such a small amount of money? She’ll be poor in no time!”🤔😳🙄😏
This is not even "Russian"...this is the French supermarket chain AUCHAN!! The equivalent of Tucker saying "Great Russian flame-broiled burger" because he went to a Burger King there!
The reason why he only spent $104 on groceries in Russia is because of the exchange rage. What I'm getting at is that the US dollar is worth more than the Ruble. Now you could say, "but it's still only $104.00". Yeah, but keep in mind that the average salary in Russia is $1,125.00 a month so $104.00 is roughly 10% of your monthly salary. Not to mention that was $104.00 for one week's worth of food for one person. So you'd spend rougly $400.00 a month on food, which means that would be 35% of your monthly salary just on food. That leaves you with $725 for rent, water, electricity, heating, etc. Yeah, try surviving on that. Life in Russia is not glamorous and a so-called Conservative like Carson should know this.
It’s more than just number crunching. If America is doing so much better, then why are more and more families relying on food banks with big American paychecks? My country used to be a communist country (Romania). Now we are part of the EU and we are still fighting to eliminate corruption. Our supermarkets are the ones you typically find in western and southern Europe + farmer’s markets filled with local products. My point is even in my country (relatively close to Russia) the remnants of communism times are fewer and far between (at least in Transylvania). How the fuck can an American 🇺🇸 fawn over such displays of poverty in supermarkets and pretty much everywhere around him?!? What regular Americans need to understand is that if this became their everyday reality would also mean poverty. Would mean regression in every way possible from what they get to say on the street to what they drive, what they eat, what they learn. I do not think they really wanna live the Russian lifestyle.
You, a Romanian, have been living independently for more than 30 years and you choose whoever robs you. So don't blame the Russians for this. They showed you a store full of products that you couldn’t even dream of in Transylvania, and you call it poverty. Isn't this stupid?

I am from Texas and trust me Dallas is not that great. Get the hell out of here with this crap that you guys are spewing.
I believe you are missing the point. Obviously Russia has nice places, such as clean public areas or normal supermarkets. Only rather ignorant Americans would think the entirety of russia would be some slum. The majority of Russia is rather poverished though. The US is similar, it has the best and richest examples of capitalism, and purely impoverished, homeless ridden, drug addicted areas blocks away from the shine. Following this same logic, Tucker would come to Portugal and be amazed by how little he would pay for groceries. He "forgets" that people's average salary dictates how cheap or how expensive those groceries are for them. I would prefer to do my shopping in India, so much cheaper.
US prices were cheaper too when we produced our own food but sadly most food in now processed in China and sent back because major companies sold out to China.

What a moron.
How the fuck can an American 🇺🇸 fawn over such displays of poverty in supermarkets and pretty much everywhere around him?!? Wow, how far TYT has fallen. A shame
Tucker Carlson is insanely rich. He has probably never gone to the grocery store in his entire land. How else could he be amazed at the cart with the coin? This exists everywhere in the world.
it really doesnt. I've lived in Southern California, NYC, and New England and never have had to use a coin for a shopping cart. it's always been honor system.
I've only seen that coin system once in my years here in both Southern Cali and the bay area, and it was at a dollar store using quarters.
@@D-S-G. Maybe they don't exist in the US.
But the coin system exists, because people don't return the cart otherwise.
So the coin system exists because we distrust people.
I don't know how Tucker Carlson got that wrong.
Why are you defending the regime? It's OK to want supermarket prices to be lower. Russia is not perfect, but it's easier to live comfortably there with a normal job. It's OK to admit that. It's OK to agree with Tucker Carlson every now and then, you don't have to disagree with EVERYTHING he says and does. People who aren't political will agree with Tucker here and you'll look ridiculous defending higher supermarket prices.
I'm with Tucker on this, it's because the Fox News viewers have been told that other countries have nothing like America does, he's now showing that it wasn't true.
No. He is not an idiot but you are. 🤷♀️He did an amazing tours in Russia.
My wife, who is Russian, is there at the moment. The shops are well stocked (nothing like the 90s after the fall of the Soviet Union) but prices have quadrupled since she and I were last there in 2019. This is in a provincial city (not Moscow). Pensions haven't kept pace with the rise in food prices, but please note that most Russians do not rent as they were given their formerly state-owned apartments (Cenk wondered how they pay the rent). I have no idea how expensive grocery shopping is in the U.S. but here in Australia it is increasingly expensive. My wife now considers Russia to be expensive too.
The main point is the average amerikkkan south of Delaware still believes Russians are waiting in breadlines
I don't like Tucker, but I guess he was comparing Moscow's beautiful stations to the stinky, rat-infested, and crime-ridden New York ones. He has a point tbh
Maybe you should visit rural russia and see what the point is
Если честно, то он прав во всем!
yeah, i found NY's subways unbearably disgusting after a stay in Moscow. They are beautiful, clean, and don't have constant delays. In western europe, there is good clean public transportation that ALSO puts the US to shame-- without the soaring frescos statues and arches of the stalin era.
@@mcmcmcm6520 Are you saying we need state-sponsored public transportation. Hear, hear! Let's do it!
Not all cities in the US are like NYC. Not all subway systems in the US are like NYC.
Following this same logic, Tucker would come to Portugal and be amazed by how little he would pay for groceries. He "forgets" that people's average salary dictates how cheap or how expensive those groceries are for them. I would prefer to do my shopping in India, so much cheaper.
In Austria or Germany it will be even cheaper with quality guarantee.
US prices were cheaper too when we produced our own food but sadly most food in now processed in China and sent back because major companies sold out to China. The government actually paid farmers NOT to farm their land here. Big corporations are pushing out privately owned farms/farmers. Food prices keep rising. It's sad when a gallon of milk cost over $6.00 and a loaf of bread over $3.00.
it was more about the evolution, as he said in the beginning, the videos of grocery stores then vs now... not us vs russia

This is not a Russian geodety store it is litterally a French supermarket chain called Auchan (written in cyrylic „Ашан”). Every piece of „technology” in that supermarket is definatelly not Russian. If comrad Tucker went to Poland or Ukraike he would find that they also have the same supermarket chain and both countries have cheaper prices.
I've never been to Russia but I have been to Russian grocery stores in Europe, places like Germany and the Netherlands.
To be honest the price in these grocery stores is significantly less than "regular stores".
The catch. The stuff that you arrive home with.
Example. To this day I'm convinced I read an article in a Sunday newspaper that Russians make the most delicious street ice cream. Friends who have been to Russia completely laughed that idea off. I then made a significant wager with a friend. We went to a Russian grocery store near Heidelberg, Germany. We bought just about every ice cream in the freezer. It was all horrible.
