    I have one of these and it was in the shop13 weeks, costs me $2300.00. Had it for a day when it broke down again and it's in the dealer again. Before this it was in the shop for three weeks, costs me $3000 before it broke down again after a week and this is a VERY short list. I've had it for over 14 years and it only has 97000 on it. They can't get parts for it and they don't know how to fix it, it's a dog too. Oh, and the four wheel drive has been broken for a decade or so and my mechanic has warned me not to have it fixed because of what it would cost and the check engine light has been on since the dawn of time. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

      Wow! Sounds like it has had some very poor maintenance, was a 2005, or had some very crappy, incompetent, shops working on it!!
      Sure, they were high maintenance jeeps, but there are dozens at 200k+ miles! They were actually pretty sweet beasts in their time!

      @@cumminsperformancs I wish I had the same experience. Several years ago I also put in a new turbo and intercooler for $5600.00 (the second turbo) and I also had to replace the entire AC for $1400 a few months ago. I wish I could dump it but I followed them on eBay and they're not selling I guess since diesel went up and the EPA thinned it out. I don't get the mileage I used to. Mine's a 2006, what's yours? Why'd you sell it? Oh, and I guess I should say that I'm in NY and they weren't sold here so nobody knows how to fix the POS but I'm glad you had a good experience because I'm in hell. Thee car's been in the shop so long that I'm so far behind on things like doctors and my teeth are falling out of my head because I can't get to the dentist. My daughter can't get places. It's major F**ked up.

      Mine was a 2006 as video says.. I sold it several years ago because it was starting to get rusty. It's because you need to learn to care for and maintain your cars. Diesel engines have a higher maintenance rate than petrol because they produce more soot and carbon. This is a very rare car and a very rare engine option. Not many were ever made.

      Biggest things to check are rust, blow by, any engine codes, if & when timing belt was changed, and feel how trans shifts... these engines were extremely high maintenance, you don't want it if it hasn't been taken care of! They get stupid expensive fast if needing work.

      @@cumminsperformancs thanks, brother. This particular little Liberty has been owned by an older couple it's entire life. 161k on the clock, stacks of maintenence records, 3" downpipe and back, tuned, built trans, and more. Really hoping she checks out nicely, wish me luck!

      So, I bought it! Timing was done 8,000 miles ago, new head gasket with ARP studs, I forget the name of the tune but pounds out 400ft/lbs, Sun Coast torque converter, Kevlar bands, and more. She's leaking coolant somewhere, dropping her off with my tech to investigate this weekend.

      Depends on your mechanical ability.. the diesel engines in these are definitely high maintenance & can get extremely expensive if your paying a garage to maintain. If you do get a diesel, make sure it has excellent service records.

      I bought the 2006 CRD from my neighbor for $800. Only 90,000 miles. However it may have a compression issue in one of the cylinders 🤷‍♂️. I’m hoping swapping the glow plugs and oil filter may do the trick but we shall see

    • @MJT-DA
      @MJT-DA 3 года назад +2

      @@azrailfan2717 the glow plugs turn off after a few seconds when cold starting and the oil filter would do much unless he didn't change his oil ever. I would look into the EGR valve as it gets dirty less and less air gets into the engine. I hear alot of crd 2.8 owners delete the EGR just to prevent engine issues.
