There were several military service members in the group there. To go sign away your free will for blocks of several years at a time and put your life on the line to defend a foreign country that you weren't born in is really something that just screams "I deserve citizenship no matter what." Truly the most honorable pathway to naturalization in my book. Wonderful people.
Well what's more American than becoming a citizen on the deck of American battleship. Thank you Battleship New Jersey team for allowing my new fellow citizens to have this opportunity to do that.
For any of newly minted citizens in the comments welcome to the greatest experiment in human history. If history tells us anything it won't always be easy, but you and many more are helping to make this land even better.
Both of my parents are naturalized citizens. I'm most deeply moved by people choosing to become Americans, learn our history and culture, read our foundational documents, and take on the responsibilities of citizenship.
Sadly, it's true that a large fraction of natural American citizens can't pass the naturalization test about government and history and such that immigrants must pass to get their green card. 😿 I'm so amazed that these ceremonies are held on Battleship New Jersey! What an awesome place to swear an oath to your country! Such an iconic monument to our ferocity and power.
@@binbashbuddy I think he means Dreamers; young children who had no choice but to come here illegally because their parents brought them along with them. Some don't want Dreamers to be awarded naturalized citizenship even though they've lived here for most of their life and haven't known anything other than America. I worked with a Dreamer in 2014. He was one of the most intelligent guys I knew at that time, studying engineering at the community college's University transfer program and interning at a facility that designed artificial heart valves. You can't tell me that he wasn't an invaluable asset to my country. 🦅 He eventually fought for citizenship and was granted his green card. It only cost him $15,000 overall in misc fees and related expenses over time by the end of it all. That was depressing to hear. I wish it was easier for these valuable individuals to properly join our society and get down to business right away without needing to hide and lie and worry about being sent off to certain death. :( Americans are walking and talking, working, paying taxes, and hugging their loved ones because they've got one of the heart valves in their chest which Paco helped create; without it they'd have croaked long ago. I congratulate these new Americans who pledged on Battleship New Jersey and I welcome them to the privileges which we enjoy as citizens of this great nation.
@@binbashbuddy This is legal if you are going to apply for asylum. What's actually illegal is taking people and busing them elsewhere (ie trafficking them) as for example the fascist DeSantis has done.

I would have no problem with a basic test being needed so that even citizen by birth would need to pass to vote.
@@ThePTBRULES Agreed. I'm slowly but surely losing all faith in our general public.
That was cool thank you for sharing this.
Welcome aboard to our newest fellow citizens!
Great video Ryan. I love watching people take the citizenship oath.

Welcome to our newest fellow citizens of these United States. Americans love legal immigrants.
some do.. others tries to make legal avenues illegal
@@Agarwaen -- I'm guessing you mean legal avenues like swimming across the Rio Grande.
This is not the place for that, take your hate elsewhere
