I've seen Stand Atlantic live, and their vocalist is an absolute powerhouse, you're dead wrong there. Otherwise though... I agree. Way too bubblegum for my taste in pop punk, but even then the synths are just kind of obnoxious and overblown and they rarely pull out a decent enough hook to push through it.
PrometheusTV I honestly also liked the new Stand Atlantic a lot myself even though I think Skinny Dipping has far better hooks and is far more consistent overall. That being said I’m not at all surprised that Mark doesn’t care for it, he seems to have a strong distaste for most of the modern pop punk scene in general.
I had listened to Glass Animals first 2 albums and I found everything to be either boring or grating, with a few exceptions. With Dreamland I actually enjoyed over half of the album so it was a pleasant suprise for me. Some of their most annoying tropes are still present here, but they manage to not be as front and center for me as previously. Incredibly Loud is probably one of my favorite songs of this year.
Heard all albums here but Jaye Jayle and Luke Bryan. Maybe I check out former, definitely not planning to check out the later cause while I think Luke Bryan is a good singer, his music just doing nothing for me. As for albums that I heard: Hail Spirit Noir- I liked their more black metal projects more than this one, but it's still pretty good experience and it reminded me about a lot of old prog that I like. I go with 8/10 Fontaines DC- for the life of me I don't get why Dogrel was so acclaimed last year, that album did nothing for me. This one I found to be a bit better and more interesting in its sound and content, but still, they are not that modern post-punk band I care about (that would be Idles, and yes, I'm hyped af for their new album, singles were mostly great). 7/10 Stand Atlantic- I get your gripes with the album, but I actually really liked it. Is it unique album in any way? No. Do I think that it's catchy as sin, that instrumentation is pretty fun and that it has some really nice lyrical moment too, like Drink to Drown? Yes. Also, I didn't mind pop and electronic elements here. 8/10 and after how much Neck Deep disappointed me, this album was what I needed. Lil Keed- dime or dozen Young Thug wannabe project, but I kind of liked it, mostly thanks to production and beats that I found to be better than let's say Lil Baby or Gunna last albums. It's is pretty bloated, mindless and generic though, so I can't say that I liked it that much. 5/10 The Microphones- I can hear screeches of hundreds angry RYM users in the background, they would probably get louder as Melon drops his review on this one. As for me, I really liked this "album", it gets a bit of time to get going, but instrumentation for me worked and I like his vocals and writing, while getting why you not much into his vocals. 8/10 Deep Purple- this is first Deep Purple album I heard in full, talking about weird places to start. Planning to do deep dive into their catalogue soon, but even with me having pretty limited opinion and knowledge about this band, I find this album to be pretty alright, not more, not less. 6/10 Glass Animals- some instrumentation is kind of nice and Denzel's verse is good, but most of it sounds really boring and deriative, vocals are not good and lyrics are only half step away from going "full AJR" (and you never go full AJR). I saw plenty of praises for this album and Glass Animals catalogue as a whole (maybe last even earned, I haven't heard any albums from GA outside of last one), but for the life of me I don't see what's to really like here (not trying to attack people who like it). 3/10 Amine- really wasn't into his debut album in 2017, but this album I thought was good. Not all beats worked for me and some of his vocals were a bit hit or miss, but I liked most of the feats (even Summer Walker did alright, which kind of surprised me), lyrical content overall is pretty interesting and sometimes it goes pretty hard. 7.5/10 Marlowe- first part in my opinion was better, but this one is good too, and yeah, I like first one better because of the beats, not saying they are bad here, not at all, just first one had better. 7/10

Fun Fact: Cordae was on the remix of Aminé's song "BLACKJACK" from 2 years ago.
Your thoughts on Stand Atlantic has to make me quote this: "that makes me a saaaaaaddd panda."
Same here I loved that album definitely one of my favourites of the year.
Yeah I really disagree with him there, I really enjoyed the album.
Oh man I was hoping for Space Ghost Coast To Coast to easily make it in best tracks.
An extra long episode, how exciting! I'm curious to check out the Marlowe album
I came to hear your thoughts on Marlowe 2. Knew it was going to be an 8. I personally liked it a little more than Marlowe 1 though.
Me: "Ah man! I'm really digging this new ___ album. Definitely going to be one of my favorites of the year!"
Mark: "Nah fam, issa 7"
Hey mark can you please make a top 10 worst and best hit songs of 2005-2006-2007 please I wanna see it

It always surprises me that people still pronounce Aminé as “Aminay”
“4/10 can’t recommend” Haven’t been this disappointed with a 4 since Dystopia.

Michael Levandowski Yeah why does he review so many pop punk bands if he’s not really a fan of the genre.
Michael Levandowski I think Pink Elephant sounds a lot more original than Skinny Dipping.
@@prometheustv6558 It was requested on Patreon, that's why. And yeah, I'm also disappointed in 4 to Dystopia, it's 3/10 at best)
Dragame Алексей Al It was their best album in years. It has such great riffs and solos. I’m glad they returned to thrash.

does anyone else think that lil keed looks like if lil wayne tried to apply to a 9 to 5?
Hey Mark, what did you think of Hamilton Leithauser's newest album?
Heard all albums here but Jaye Jayle and Luke Bryan. Maybe I check out former, definitely not planning to check out the later cause while I think Luke Bryan is a good singer, his music just doing nothing for me. As for albums that I heard:
