John Noble is a master of his craft. Probably the finest actor to star in a science fiction show. He grounds everything to reality, believable in every emotion, down to the most subtle facial expression. Absolutely criminal that his perfomance in this show is underappreciated and overlooked to this day. Hopefully, in time, he gets the credit and recognition he deserves.

Omg yes. I came to this conclusion. I was watching again recently and I thought back on all his moments in the show and I thought how much I admired him as an actor.
Josh and John did such an amazing job in this scene. They truly were father and son on film and in real life. So much love. One of the crew told me that there wasnt a sound on set when this scene was being filmed ..... lots of tears though. These 2 men are perfection....as was #Fringe
I saw John Noble today at NZ comic con. He was amazing and told great stories about LOTR and he clearly loved working on Fringe. Great guy, he quoted the "My very favorite thing" line and put emotion into it, for a split second and he was Walter Bishop again. Fantastic.
FRINGE is a Sci-Fi show that has built its foundation on the basis of Human bond, Love and relationships. No show can ever come close to Fringe to beat it in this matter, at least for me!
I agree. The look on his face says just how much he loves his father. He knows his father is right and he has to go, but Peter doesn't want to let him go. The relationship between these 2 characters was, in my opinion, the driving force of the show. I love this scene and this show.
@@ShaneJMcEntee I think both of their emotions were very real. Both Josh and John are method actors and just like this is one of the last times that the characters will see each other... this was also one of the last scenes John and Josh would film together.
Absolutely the best father/son moment ever put to film! Outstanding show. Brilliantly cast. Excellently perfect writing. John Noble is simply amazing and easily one of my favorite actors. This entire TV series role, the way he portrays it, along with this scene from the show's ending, could not have been done as eloquently or perfectly as Mr. Noble played it. He was certainly born to play Walter Bishop. Perfect actor to a perfect role.
One of the most emotional scenes in Fringe. This scene broke my heart and let me cry like a baby. Walter was a lovely father for Peter and his Family. I love Fringe for all that and will never forget Walter and Peter Bishops strong father/Son Relationship.
Few things can make me sob like I do when I watch this scene, partly because I feel the message on the video is not just for Peter but for us fans- Walter saying goodbye to ALL of us who love him dearly, and a reminder that despite the sadness we feel about losing him (and Fringe) forever, we were enjoying these moments on stolen time- it seemed impossible that we'd have a 5th season to wrap things up, but we did, and we were blessed to have this extra time with the family we've grown to love.
The entire cast of this show is fantastic, but John Noble as Walter Bishop is simply *chef's kiss*. As much as I love Anna Torv as Olivia and Joshua Jackson as Peter, this show simply wouldn't be as fantastic as it is without Walter's eccentric personality and the way he and Peter play off each other. (And we, of course, get a taste of just how different Walter would have been without Peter in season 4). This scene personifies everything that is great about John Noble's brilliant acting, as well as the immense love he and Peter share. The way Peter went from not even wanting to hear his father's name in the first episode, to "I love you, Dad" at the end is pure perfection. Beautiful character growth, beautiful acting. Thank you, Fringe, for 5 wonderful seasons!
Omg, I told myself I wouldn't cry during the finale, but I gave up when this scene came on. I kept on crying after this scene ended because it was just so sad! Without a doubt the best scene of season five. John Noble is amazing...
I watched the Fringe series for the sci-fi aspect of it, but damn, the character development towards the story was so, so good. The last episode of S.5 was like cutting onions for me. Wished there was at least one more season...

I'm not crying, you're crying. Ok, that was a lie - I'm definitely crying. I can't help but also think of my own father, especially now that he's only a couple years from 90 and has suffered a stroke. I'm thankful for the time I have with him, because it definitely feels stolen. Might have lost him when it happened and although it affected him, he's still here and I'm thankful every day ❤️
One of the most viewer-rewarding sci fi shows to watch. Great acting, beautiful story arcs, and excellent cinematography, sound and effects. The opening credits are one of my favorite things about this show. When they showed Walter in the the 80's in that one episode, they made a whole set of Retro-credits for that episode alone and I loved that so much!
The best scene in the whole tv show history. When Walter says that he and Peter were not destined to be together, my heart collapses. Because it’s true. They were not. Walter changed everything. He and his family are enemy of destiny, just like the last episode’s title. Amazing.
This last episode man... Cried in every interaction Walter had with the characters. But this father and son moment between Walter and Peter was just so damn heartbreaking. The acting was phenomenal
Me and my girlfriend broke up and even though this is a father and some this scene breaks my heart. She was my favourite thing but we couldn't stay together, very much like Walter and Peter. I can never not cry at this scene.

The most powerful thing about this scene is how Peter, ever the wise-cracking smart ass, just goes silent and starts crying. He knows, there is nothing he could possibly say that would either change the course of events, or completely compensate his father for the sacrifice he is about to make, it evokes a deep instinct that I think only a father could understand, or, at best, the son of a long suffering father, could understand. My reasoning is that I had to watch my father lose my mother to pancreatic cancer. After 28 years of marriage, my father has always been a rock, a completely immoveable object, and watching him fall to his knees and weep beside my mother is something that will haunt me for the rest of my life. It hurt to lose my mother, but to see what it did to my father hurt as much if not more. I know that if he could have, he would have moved heaven and Earth to trade places with her, and would have been happy to do so. Not for his own sake but for his wife, and myself and my sister, to spare us the pain, at least according to his own judgement. He was never perfect, but he has always put the rest of us first. 2020 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Just dare to me to say anybody. My list it's a very hard list to make. Walter bishop.is in "my" top 10 or twenty best tv charectits of all time . And this one scene has to be in my top ten tv scenes of all time.
I really would love to see how this show would have developed in the age of streaming services (considering how amazing it even development on a network TV station)!
Fuck... huge lump in throat. Sigh. Such a good show.
