Big Island residents have been dealing with this for years. No one returns calls from Big Island Invasive Species Council. Big Island now has the Queensland Austrailian beetle that girdles citrus and avocado trees and enjoys hibiscus. Fire ants attack keiki in the yard. Auwe USDA is failing to protect Hawaii from invasive species. Try following New Zealands example. Farmers have been begging for help for years. Tourist get bitten at the beaches and parks.
@kakelinga they don't die instantly. They take the food back and feed it to the larvae. Also, the adult ants eat it, become inactive and eventually die within 2 days. Also works great on roaches because they eat their dead and continue the kill chain. But ants don't. So if you don't put enough, a large colony will survive.
You should get Jertemy Lee to talk to some people on Big Island who have been suffering with these tiny pests since before 2009. They fall out of huge Albizia trees and get blown hundreds of feet away and land on your rooves and get into catchment tanks. Check out HPP about midway up from Maku'u to Paradise.
I deal with them everyday on the big island as a landscaper and the stuff to use is these small yellow granulars called probait they take it back to there nest and after the queen eats them they all are dead they don’t die instantly but it works the best for me
For us, it’s these black ants with fat bottoms. They seem to not be attracted to sugar, and bring aphids and other flower/leaf killers. If anyone knows how to get rid of them comment below.
they dont want any sugar......they have too much already via 'honeydew' they get from the aphids they farm. u need protein/fat to attract them ie Peanut Butter...
Tango is the only thing that works and it take a couple months because it works by making the babies retards so they die off w/o reproducing.. very safe too, its used in drinking water for mosquitos.
2-3 gallons Boiled water, dish soap, DE diatomaceous earth, baking soda boric acid cayenne pepper vinegar put on the ant hills too. BAIT: Corn grits with soybean oil for them to eat & give to QUEEN to kill or become infertile.
Only been a major issue on big island for over a decade 🤷🏾♂️
100 percent fact
They don’t care. Oahu is the main island. Most populated.

1 part borax to 3 parts peanut butter.
500 lazy State of Hawaii employee's.
The borax and peanut butter doesn't work. We tried it and ended up with all the ants in the neighborhood feeding off the bait and none died.
Give em the boot
