I'm glad you got back to the NW family reaction videos. And yes, Marko is back and even performed with Tarja a few weeks ago in Switzerland. Marko is back and his appearance with Tarja has caused a lot of excitement. He didn't even rule out that she would appear on his album. Marko was the only one who apologized to her few years ago. Some toxic fans call them traitors, but most are enthusiastic. I like Mark's solo album. Some elements in his songs remind me of Ayreon, which I also love. In the fall, he will even tour with Anneke in South America, as well as Tarja. But he doesn't want to return to Nightwish. It is said that he is not even in contact with them. By the way, I saw Tarja live at a rock festival a few weeks ago. She is a truly captivating performer. For me, she has no competition in this regard.
Marko Hietala (pron: HEE-ah-Tallah) is a classically trained guitarist, bassist, songwriter and talented vocalist both solo and in harmony! This song is the 3rd single off his latest solo project, Pyre of the Black Heart, preceeded by Stones, and Voice of My Father. (The album was released in both Finnish and English). The band is a 4 piece. Marko also still makes music w his original band, Tarot (w brother, Sakari on guitar). To hear an amazing vocal performance, check out Tarot, song Tides, live (Undead Indeed)! Marko also sings w the super group The Northern Kings, and does many guest singing gigs w other bands!

My good Man you have missed a lot!!! Marko and Tarja reunited a few weeks ago and sang Phantom of the Opera after 18 years, it was a spur of the moment unrehearsed performance and I LOVED it!!! You so need to check it out

Marko has told in interviews and at his show's that he has seen doctors, gotten new diagnosis and meds that help. So, he's touring again, in relatively small manner though. He still doesn't think he'll be in shape to do something as demanding as Nightwish any time soon, probably newer (at least more than single shows...)
@@TheRealMediaMan The stuff he has talked about are mental ilnesses, both depression and a ADHD diagnosis. He's had other things (broken bones etc.) along the way, but the reason for scaling back & quitting Nightwish was/is mainly the depression (and not liking how things are done at the "big money" level). The previous harder periods in Nightwish were also obviously hard for him and he apparently had considered quitting before (for his own mental health) & even now that he did leave it was hard decision as he did love the band, but he hadn't been feeling good and it wasn't getting better. So, he finally made the decision to move into smaller things when they/he was forced to stop and think about things during thecovid pause. I don't think he can for real actually quit doing ALL music (he has 2nd solo album in the works), but the world tours etc. with something as big a Nightwish obviously are not good for his mental health. He is also 57 now & has been "active" in the music business since 1982. He now has a new family (married 2018, baby girl born 2022), I'm sure he'll also wan't to be close to home as much as he can. He has had depression medication for over a decade now. & there was some period of depression in the late 90's too (before Nightwish), when the botched "throat surgery" (i'm not a doctor so I'm not quite sure what they did) ruined his voice and Marko had to learn to talk & sing again. There is still permanent nerve damage in his neck from it! He also was something of an alcoholic for years (decades?) until 2010 (sober since then) and somewhat selfmedicated with it... Depression is not uncommon in Finland. Everyone over here is very supportive of our beloved 1st generation metal legend / one of the founders of finnish metal. It's great to see him have fun on stage with friends and collegues again!
