    What if I don't have the Mother-32, no way to sync this up with my DAW? Is there a tap tempo function atleast? Having a really hard time manually syncing this up with anything, the knob is suuuper sensitive.

    Can you set it up the other way around, so that the DFAM controls the tempo of the Mother 32?

    How would I use this same clocking method but use an external modular clock, like Make Noise Tempi, to be the master clock for Mother 32?

    Am I correct in assuming that I could send a MIDI clock from my DAW to the Mother32, and then sync the DFAM to that tempo as well?

    • @internalobserver
      @internalobserver 5 лет назад +1

      Yes, that works.

    • @Wasteland_FX
      @Wasteland_FX 4 года назад +5

      Yes you can :) You can sync the DFAM to your Mother32 (as explained in the video). Then you can also sync your Mother32 to your DAW with a MIDI-cable. So... when you press play in your DAW, the Mother32 starts playing, and because of that the DFAM will also be playing at the same tempo. (So you can record both at the same time in your DAW! :))

    Sort of lost interest in M32 but didn't sell it.
    Now totally into DFAM and glad I didn't sell it.
    Just bolted M32 & DFAM together, a mini modular.
    Thanks Moog keep Mooging.
    Will there be another module in the same format? For my likings a VOCODER?
    A $6000 vocoder I would never consider but a $1000 has my interest.

    Sync is lost when you use ratchets in Mother 32 seq. Is there a way to sync Mother 32 and DFAM successfully when using ratchets?

    • @timgrogan974
      @timgrogan974 5 лет назад

      This is the problem I'm having as well. The DFAM doubles the note length where the Mother has a ratchet. That's when using it's internal clock to sync with DFAM. Now to make matters more perplexing, when I then slave the Mother to my DAW via MIDI, the DFAM no longer has the sync problem. How can this be overcome? IDK

      Put the M32 in "Tempo Single Clock Advanced Mode" - Option 2 in the Sync Options. To do this check out Setup Mode on Page 49 of the manual and page 46 for the explination

    what is the standard sync pulse? 5 volt like normal eurorack module? Im thinking about getting mother it DFAM if I can sync them with volca Sample :)
    Or maybe Moog could do a sam I modular sampler with analog filter? :)

    I have a general question about the patch cables:
    Are the included 6 inch patch cables that come with the M32 & DFAM long enough to use to patch the two together?
    or do you need the extended 12 inch cables?

    • @MoogSynthesizers
      @MoogSynthesizers 6 лет назад +2

      6” cables will not reach the furthest rows of the two patch bays. A set of 12” patch cables is definitely recommended when two units or more are in use.

    I have a question about MIDI:
    can you sync the tempos of the M-32 and DFAM then MIDI the M-32 to another drum machine or midi thru ?

    • @MoogSynthesizers
      @MoogSynthesizers 6 лет назад +1

      The Mother-32 does not have a MIDI output, but you could use the drum machine to send MIDI clock to the Mother-32 and then pass sync over to the DFAM.

    • @joozi1925
      @joozi1925 5 лет назад +1

      So there is no way to get DFAM to advance and still stay in sync without the Mother-32 sequencer running? I say that because the M-32 interferes with the midi note information while the sequencer is on, but there is no assignable output mode or other method(that i have found) that will send a midi-synced clock signal when the sequencer isn't running.

    Is there ever any need for a longer (than 6 inch) cable with this set up of the Mother 32 and the DFAM?

    is there a way to reset the dfam to the first step

    • @MoogSynthesizers
      @MoogSynthesizers 6 лет назад

      Not via patching as the DFAM sequencer clock is an analog oscillator. You can press the ADVANCE button until you reach STEP 8 and then press “RUN/STOP” or send clock. This will cause the sequence to begin on the following step (STEP 1).

    Hi, I have a problem? maybe you can help me? It doesn't work with my mother-32 and the dfam! my mother 32 keeps sending double pulses? or the dfam is just reacting strange on the assignable out? I did a 2.0 firmware update last week? is this maybe the problem?

    • @MoogSynthesizers
      @MoogSynthesizers 3 года назад +1

      With the 2.0 firmware you can actually adjust the internal clock divider/multiplier against the clock rate by holding the KB and STEP buttons while turning the tempo knob, so if you just speed up the Mother's clock division to match the DFAM, you can then slow down the overall tempo to what you want with them synced to the same division.

  • @girlinagale
    @girlinagale 5 лет назад +2

    Mother 32 is much easier to exit set-up mode just pressing shift and kbd. Two buttons rather than four.

  • @prospectnyc

    How do you go the other way? In other words, patch an "adv step" for the Mother 32?

  • @milanspasic2719
    @milanspasic2719 5 лет назад +4

    I'm sorry but this is not simple. Simple would be to plug clock out to clock in, not push multiple button combinations that don't make any sense. I have and love both of these synths but the number of steps to do something as simple as this is nonsensical. Clock division is cool though.
