Thank you SOOOO much for reviewing this. I'm a 68 yr old hippie witch woo woo person. I wanted this planner but live on social security and 50 bucks is a lot to pay. Seeing your review helped me decide. I love the more crafting, manifesting wording. It's absolutely up my alley. Gonna get it next month. Thanks again!
I used this planner for three years. It’s beautifully thought out and very creative and functional. The Dragon Tree changes the colors every year and the community is very supportive. I love the guided questions at the beginning. But man do they ever make you think. It’s a deep dive into your own soul. I liked the covers better when they had more of a Zen theme. If you are considering this planner, I found that Papermate InkJoy pens are really good.
I have this one and I really like it so far. I struggle with goal setting and it was helpful to have it all broken down step-by-step. The paper was a challenge. If anyone else here is struggling with it, LePen and Tombow seem to work without smearing. There were a lot of users complaining about the paper in the Facebook group so I'm hoping they will change it for 2023. Thanks for reviewing so many different planners for us Cindy!
I'm starting to realize that having a planner with journal questions/goal settings AND weekly plans is crucial for me. I will definitely keep this one in mind for 2023! Thanks for the reiview, Cindy!
So I've actually used this planner since 2017, and I've had great success with it, even though I'm really not a "hippy, woo-woo" type o person, usually. (I laughed when you said that, because that's kinda how I describe this planner too.) To be honest, I've never found a better process for drilling down and identifying what's important to me/what I really want my goals to be. You can also get the goal setting/ritualizing sections without the weekly planner in both bound book and digital formats as well, for those who prefer digital and/or daily planning. Cindy, if your kid is into ritual and ceremony, I suspect they'd seriously vibe with this one, and the digital version is really inexpensive. I'm so excited you decided to review this one! Thank you!
I would keep it on my shelf and use it as a reference with my bullet journal. It sounds like some of the goal stuff is easier to understand than some of the others I see.
There's also a version that doesn't include the weekly planning pages available in bound book and digital (PDF) format that I know some people use in conjunction with their Bujos.
As someone who still occasionally plays WoW, I giggled at the focus on "rituals". Then I lost it at "weekly alignment" - what if I'm always Chaotic Neutral? I'm a nerd 🤓.
I still have a digital version of this planner from 2019. Process-wise, I found it similar to Powersheets and Makse Life. I think it depends on what resonates with you. I like how they conceptualize a vision board with specific questions, and I like the emphasis on how much you trust yourself.
@@catherinejbaker I didn't use the weekly spreads. I just printed the goal setting and reflection pages and put them in a 3-ring binder. I liked it, but I haven't bought another one. Hopefully they still sell the digital version.
I bought this planner as my goal-setting planner for 2022. I saw someone woo-woo reviewing it and it felt like the right blend of pragmatism and woo for me, so I grabbed it. I found the journalling questions at the beginning super useful, BUT I want to set far more than 3-4 goals for the coming year. Plus... I don't do well at trying to set long-term goals - there's just too much that can completely change everything I thought was important to me without warning and make me re-evaluate what I thought I wanted - *gestures vaguely at the pandemic* - so looking forward much beyond a year at a go doesn't feel meaningful to me. So I basically hacked their structure to make it work better for me: I ended up reworking the 10-year and Lifetime sections to just be more 1-year goals. I do find their weekly alignment section useful: I used it every week in January, and then used their weekly planning section to give myself a 1000-foot view of my priorities for the week (at least as they start off) and ensure I'm including tasks that contribute to my goals. But I haven't used much else of it so far.
I was not expecting to like this one, but I'm pleasantly surprised! I wouldn't buy it as a planner, as weekly layouts stress me out and I have some other specific needs, but I might pick up a copy at some point to use the prompts - I, too, really like the guided 'what do you want your life to look like' section.
I'm so glad you reviewed this one!! I found this just after I bought my 2021 planner and I was really upset that I didn't get this one, but I didn't see enough reviews at the time to convince me to buy it anyway. I really love the weekly set up, because you could totally do a timed day on the top half and tasks or reflection on the bottom half of each day.
I LOVE this. As someone who struggles with mental health, the reflection questions, the suggestions for possible activities or goals, and the space to map stuff out seems really useful. I'd be curious to hear a follow-up on one of your Sunday livestreams a couple of weeks from now to see what you think of it after sitting with it for a bit. BTW, I hope you guys are okay out there in the storm! It looks pretty terrible right now.
I'm a part of one of the social media groups focused around this planner and there's a LOT of emphasis on mental health support in that group. If you decide to get the planner, I highly recommend you join the FB group and get involved in the community there. I feel like a commercial for this planner, but I've used it for years and it's helped me so much!
I love that you reviewed this planner. The ad keeps popping up on everything for me. I like the planner and it seems like a great way to have everything in one place. I might try this one next year as I already have my system set up for this year and am happy with it.
Looks like a very well thought out planner. I love all of the thought provoking questions to help guide you to really think about your life and the life you want to live. Thanks for checking it out. I was certainly intrigued by it, plus I love the moon and star like graphics.
I’ve used the dreambook since 2016 and have been working on my coaching certification with them to be able to walk people through the process. Looking for your take on it 😄
Okay so this planner is made by the folks at Dragontree Spa which is in Portland, OR. I've been to this spa a lot and enjoyed it. It's funny that they have a planner.
I really find those weekly layouts interesting, I usually use two weekly planners at the same time because I find my self needing two weekly spreads, one for time tracking and school, one for tasks and personal life. Problem is I only use one of the monthly spreads...
I hate woo but I found this very intriguing. The prompts feel like they could add in nicely to my HB90 system. I’m going to go check out the digital offerings. Thanks for the review!
I'm not much of a woo person either, but I love this planner. Like I said above, I've not yet found a better system for deciding/discovering what's important to me and where I want to focus my goals for the year/month/whatever. I'm a Sarra Cannon fan as well, so I'd be curious to know how it works with the HB90 system.
I have used the digital undated version of this to great effect. I chose the PDFs because I lived int he UK at the time and shipping was an issue. I got to choose my own paper that way.
I know this is an older video, but this planner works great with the HB90 system because it does a similar breaking down of tasks they've also improved the paper.
This does seem like a cool planner, but I think that paper would make me nuts too. Have you ever looked at the Legend planner? I got one for Christmas a year ago (it's undated) and love it, but I just don't have a use for it yet.
I'm not a woo woo person either, but this planner is looking nice considering as a non religious person, I still like rituals since they instill some meaning into thing. I saw people mentioning the digital version on their site and looked, and wow, $17 is a bit steep for me atm.
@@angelafasold962 yes! The paper apparently was changed this year because so many complained about the paper last year. I didn’t have the planner last year. This year it is a heavy non glossy paper. I think I read it is an 80 lb paper but not sure. I do know the paper is really nice and so far zero bleed through. It is easy to write in and all of my pens, bell point, gel, highlighters, markers etc all work wonderfully on it. Does that help?
Gratitude on a weekly or daily page is always a pass from me. I know I could easily relabel it but it's so often veers into toxic positivity as a concept and I just wish planners would stop doing it.
I have tried to watch this video three times. I'm not sure what about it is a bit overwhelming, maybe it is all the things in the beginning and the drawings, but It is just a lot. Clearly this was not designed with simplicity in mind. Or maybe it was designed for someone more artsy than I am.
