Sig Rattler LT here…I tried everything, including boiling water, nothing worked! Hours spent on this. Your method worked immediately!! Thanks for sharing this neat trick!
Soaked mine in cold water for 4 hours, put a 3/4 socket on the end with Milwaukee impact and it came right off. Didn’t even have it in a vice. The water did soak through into the threads and broke down the rock set. NO HEAT
Mines been boiling for about 30 minutes. Gonna continue to leave it in hot water for a few more hours. Hit it with my impact and it still won’t come off. I’m guessing they used an ungodly amount of rocksett on mine. Worst comes to worst I’ll vice it and put a cutting wheel to the muzzle device. I’m really pissed off at sig for this.
You got lucky and they must have put a realistic amount of rockset on yours. Mine had globs of squeeze out around the back of the muzzle device. That thing is on there. If 48 hours in water plus my impact wrench doesnt do it then im going to cut it off
Heat to tree fiddy then shock it with cold water dunk. Mine came right off, no vice needed... Course my dwilt is rated for 900 ft lbs! No kill like overkill!
Heated mine to tree fiddy and dunked it for 5 minutes in cold water... XR 20v 1/2" drive DeWalt and came right off the 300 blk. 900ft lbs torque, there's no kill like overkill!

Thanks for this tip, it works ! I didn't even need to heat up the muzzle brake on my SIG MCX-SPEAR LT 5.56 11.5" SBR

Heat to tree fiddy and it will come off in 5 minutes of soaking.

@@breckfreeride I cut it off. Not a mark on the gun. Was cathartic to destroy the muzzle device after struggling with it
@@SnekPlskin I bet! Good job not bunging the threads...
I don’t understand how Rocksett can apparently withstand 3000 degrees but can be removed with a heat gun.
@@SnekPlskinwhy didn’t you just send it to SIG?
What vice is that??
Well, time to say goodbye to mom’s pot.
Wish the 308 was that easy

I had to put mine in my ultra sonic cleaner for 30 min fully submerged then it came right off with the impact.
Mine is still not coming out
me too, this didnt work
Maybe try to boil it in water, then use a stronger impact driver
@@thuantran3451 I boiled it. Nothin
