Girls, an oatmeal bath isnot that kind of oatmeal 😂😂😂 its Colloidal oatmeal, you canfind it at any pharmacy, it'll be by the poison ivy relief items, poor Noop. Love all of you !🌈
    Edit:
I looked it up, if you grind the oatmeal into a powder, it will work to help soothe Snoops skin. But colloidal is better because it has other medicinal properties for his skin.

You probably already did this but my dog has a very similar situation so I will share what I do-
First Gunner was on basically all the shots and medication and the yeast was just insane so I stopped everything and did research to basically reset his system.
    No chicken or grain -
    Yogurt (plain) daily a spoonful
    Pre and probiotics daily
Medication baths for the fungus (the readiness is secondary basically yeast infection)
Dog food I feed is Purina Pro Plan sensitive skin and stomach
And lastly get a spray bottle of apple cider vinegar and dilute 1/2 with water and spray on snoops feet every time he comes in
Seems like so much but basically trying to build up snoops immunity and getting his body to work for himself.
Also, a anti fungal spray for snoop as well -
    Oh the probiotic is called
Pro Bios and you can get at any farm or dog store .

So, if you still wanted to try a oatmeal bath for Noop, I would try putting a sock with raw oats on your bathtub nozzle. The water will run through the oats and the sock will filter it to make basically oat water. It’ll allow the oats to really soak into his skin. The cooked oatmeal works but it’s very chunky and can’t penetrate the way a liquid would in the tub.

My dog had really bad allergies, I went to a doggy dermatologist and they tested for immunoglobulin A deficiency as well as a full allergy panel where it was discovered she is highly allergic to EVERYTHING. Then I did immunotherapy injections. Combined with a commercial raw food diet (don’t mess around with unbalanced homemade food with immunocompromised dogs) and after two years of that, my dog was cured of her allergies. No more skin and ear infections, no more licking and scratching. It’s been 5 years since I stopped the injections and raw food, she’s almost 9 and doing great.

Definitely make sure to get a panel done from your vet to see exactly what he is allergic to. Many times you need to do a grain free diet. There are a few good kibble options or do raw. Just make sure if you go raw, you do it right. It needs to be balanced and contain all the proper nutrients. You can also give him pumpkin puree to help with the loose stool.

I order it from 1-800-petmeds because it’s significantly cheaper than getting it from the vet. I even ordered a allergy test off of Amazon and tested my dog myself and found out she’s allergic to every type of protein except beef so we switched her to beef and brown rice dog food but without her apoquil she will itch till she bleeds. I also have been looking into a more natural diet because my dog just turned 3, his allergies really have been amazing since the move (haven’t even needed apoquel) but it can always change w age! Just seems crazy to have him on a pill from a year old to the rest of his life! There has to be something in between & if environment had SUCH an effect i can only imagine what changing what he EATS can do, especially long term!! Make sure you check not only his food, but also his treats for corn. For doggie diarrhea, try the baby food rice cereal mixed with jarred turkey, chicken or beef baby food. Give him that only until he starts to firm up, then start to mix in some of his kibble and eventually take out the baby food altogether. Poor Snoop! Hope he gets some relief soon…. P.S. I have an allergy dog. He is allergic to everything outside. I’d suggest seeing a dog dermatologist. It could be food. It could be environmental. It could be both. The only way to find out is to do an elimination/novel diet and/or a skin test. My pup has a whole list of things we do to keep his allergies in check, including weekly injections that I give him. My first dog who also had allergies got the runaround with the regular vet. Once we saw the specialist his issues cleared up.

Removing chicken/poultry from their diet is always the best option for trying to solve un-solveable dog health issues. Most dogs have built up a general intolerance for chicken over the generations. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) works to help pets with allergies. Keeping a small amount in their bloodstream constantly is the key. 1/2 pill per day has worked for my 50-70lb pits with no ill side effects. These are things my best vets have recommended to me, and have worked for me, but most vets wont offer these options, as they dont make money from them.

I’ve been told that local honey can help with allergies and it’s safe for dogs! I’m sure it won’t be the cure but it could maybe help!

A lot of times when dogs present with allergies it’s because they are allergic to poultry. Make sure there is no chicken or turkey in his food.😊

Also if you keep bathing him all the good bacteria that’s on his skin may be gone which is causing the bad bacteria to take over

My brother had a white pit bull who had horrible allergies 😢 toward the end of his life he was miserable. Poor thing was just so itchy, he would squirm around on his back whining & trying to itch himself, he would scratch so much he would bleed & get the worse sores. He was a big guy & hard to bathe but my brother definitely showered him & tried so many ointments, salves, diet changes ugh

Grain free diets are not good. There are studies coming out now that link it to heart disease. Definitely talk to your vet first.

For Snoop you can try a hydrolyzed protein diet by royal canin. Food allergies could be a concern as well along with the obvious inhalant allergies. The science behind the diet is scientists have modified the size of the protein source to where the molecules are so small the dogs GI tract can’t recognize it.
If you don’t decide to go this route you can also try to checking the ingredients in the dog food your are currently feeding. Chicken and beef are two bigger protein allergies that dogs tend to be allergic to. Even if a diet is advertised as being a “salmon” diet there’s a strong chance a chicken or beef product or byproduct will be listed in the ingredients.
Hope this gets back to you!

So I have done zero research on this, I have only read a few articles and am thinking of starting it to help my dog with his allergies. Giving your dog bee pollen with meals. I've heard that over time it can help with allergies. Again you should do more research to make sure it is completely safe. I have also heard it is better if you get it from a local farmers market and to start with small amounts; it might help.

Hi Rachel, just an odd question about Snoop. Is it possible he’s allergic to his own saliva? I know my dog, a yellow Labrador has contact dermatitis and has rash on her privates and belly right now especially with her going swimming or lounging on her splash mat. We use original lotrimin (per our vet) once a day and it does seem to help.

Have you tried diluting some apple cider vinegar into his water? Basically just start adding a set amount into his water to the point that its under his radar and he gets used to having it. Then increase it to whatever is considered a medicinal dose for his itchiness.

Have you done a blood allergy test on him? My Donatello has BAD allergies, we tried different foods, medications, all the things, then I finally got a blood test done and it came back with all the plants he’s allergic to in my state, and all the foods he can’t have. I highly recommend starting with that! It’s a big help!

Put a capful of bleach in that horse trough thing (W/water) It will kill all the bacteria. I have to do this to my bird baths. (Martha Stewart tip of the day LOL)
