I think the dock is a great accessory for a desk setup. It also makes it easier to plug the mac to the whole setup, since it can be plugged by a single cable.
Doing people a disservice for not mentioning the silent version of the mouse (Mx master 3S) because it’s the same mouse and added functionality of not being annoying, ultra quiet clicks)
"Do you like spending money on things that you don't need or that you might not actually end up using?" *Me nodding with a sheepish smile on my face* "Of course not!" *Immediately starts shaking head furiously with eyes glued firmly to the ground*
A very useful video. Thank you very much. I came across your first video of 10 useful programs and immediately found so much useful for myself. I've been on MacBooks for less than a year. Now, after your video about useful programs and gadgets, I am interested in the question of convenient transportation of a MacBook with gadgets on a trip or business trip. I would also like a video about tips on professional programs.
I'm just a casual user so I'm not motivated to buy any of the products you mentioned but I like the products you've mentioned and the rationale behind your recommendations. Consider me a new subscriber.
Cool video. I'd like to hear about your setup for connecting your Macbook Pro to your external monitor. Specifically, what monitor you chose and why, which stand you are using, and what you use to make those connections and why. I'd also like to hear about that desktop cover that you have on your desk. Thanks!
Absolutely love the accessory deep dive video. The OWC dock is pretty bad ass and definitely a must. The Belkin is also great for travel. Thanks for such a great and detailed video.
The mouse is a must have for me, the MX max is amazing, I’ve been using it for about 2 years and I can’t work without it. So nice to copy and paste stuffs, specially for web developers.
I do have the ugreen dongle right now and it is the best for travelling. It’s light and efficient. Will definitely buy that logitech mouse to replace my current wired mouse though 😅
Love the OWC. Think moving with a MacBook is great but when you want to sit at your desk and have as much functionality as possible, need a dedicated hub like that to get everything done with one cable to the laptop
I've got MX Master and MX Keys and I love them. interesting that these products have been around for a few years now, but they still keep getting recognition for how good they are
This is probably the 5th Mac accessories video I’ve watched that mentioned the MX Keys mini and gahhh I’m just dying to get one for myself now. Great video tho, one of the more practical mac accessories videos I’ve seen!!
Much appreciated Angelo. Now go get yourself the mini - You won’t regret it! There’s a link to the best price available for the Mini Keys in the description if you want to support the channel 🤝
Just watched your 10 best apps. BEST and most practical advice I've ever watched or heard!!! Downloaded Alfred, Hand Mirror, going to download cheat sheet and also rectangle. Awesome!! Will be watching, for sure. Very helpful
I’m buying a MacBook Pro next month and have gone through a lot of RUclips channels and videos on how to get the best out of my computer itself (such as settings and apps), but this was the first video I’ve seen regarding accessories. Being a graphic design student, I’m sure I will need to consider a few of those hahaha Great job, Chris! Just subscribed!
Awesome! for those of you who doesn’t want to break the bank and get a good value for your money, I would recommend Anker 341 7 in 1 USB C hub. It has all the ports you need on a daily basis with a price of 35$.
I normally don't comment on videos, but I will say that I watched this video. The keyboard that you mentioned intrigued me and I decided to purchase it. After 2 hours after receiving it, I completely enjoy it. I like a keyboard that gives feedback and doesn't feel cheap. Thanks for the suggestion.
Fortunately I have most of your recommendations. Logitech mouse and keyboard work quite fine. Your video cleared my doubt on Anker charger. I will opt for the bigger one to power up my three travelling devices. Thanks Tom for your suggestions. By the way from your previous video I downloaded Rectangle app. Thanks.
i can fully support your suggestions. from the configuration of the MBA over extension Dongle, external Storage, The logitech Keys, Power Bank and a Charger able to charge multiple devices, the only one missing is Desktop Monitor for stationary work preferable an UW Device
I prefer skins from companies like Dbrand over hard cases to keep a sleek, compact MacBook. Although mine is either at my desk or in a padded book bag, so my chances of dropping/denting it are extremely low. Your mileage may vary though
@@Christomshack And what about keeping it clean? Do you have any transparent skin or anything in mind? Just a finger on the external parts to make it looks like its dirty.
Hey John, both monitors I use daily are linked inside of this kit: kit.co/christomshack/desk-setup-accessories After the embarrassingly long amount of time I spent looking into the best monitors, these are the two that I ended up buying and am completely satisfied with 👍

Several others asked about the laptop stand and, believe it or not, I’ve had it for more than a handful of years and couldn’t find the Amazon order when I bought it. It’s not a named brand, but still a high quality, low-profile stand. Wish I could provide a link!

hi tom hope you're doing good, I would like to ask where can I get your desk lamp? and would like if you are thinking about make a video about your desk set up?
Thanks for the suggestions! My top pick is most definitely the Logitech MX Keys. I love this device! Switching between the three devices is super fast and the sensors that turn on the backlights when your hands approach the keyboard (before you even touch) are great. Definitely worth the investment!!
@@Christomshack I have the full size. It’s no gaming keyboard obviously but the clicks are just fine for daily use; quiet and feel fine. And the battery life is actually pretty great. I rarely get a low battery alert but I can tell it’s getting low when the backlights don’t come on until I actually touch a key. So, I just pop in the spare USB C cable that I keep on the desk. Combined with the Logi MX Ergo trackball wireless (with the extra tilt pad) and an Apple trackpad, and it’s a pretty close to perfect setup for office and creative work.
Recently gotten a 2021 16” MBP M1pro and watched this video for inspiration for potential accompanying accessories… until i realised i had most of them! MX Keys Mini x3 (1x for work laptop. 1x for iMac and a spare for my work travel kit, though it often gets used for my iPad Pro 12.9) MX Master 3 x2 Anker and Amazon generic USB-C hubs Samsung t7 Touch SSD - 1x 500GB and 1x 1TB Anker PowerPort Atom Anker and RavPower powerbanks Great video though, very insightful
I have that same dock, but also use an iMac instead of a MacBook. It's an amazing dock, although even with all the added ports, I've quickly used about all of the ports and need to think of what to do next as I want to get a new webcam and will need to think of which USB A port to free up.
I personally prefer 14” since it’s the sweet spot for traveling with. The cost savings going with the 14 can also be put towards a good external monitor like the 4k Dell monitor linked in my desk setup (in the description). This way you have a fantastic portable laptop AND a desktop setup 👍🏼
Anker Chargers just can’t be beat. I have several of them and you’re right, they’re better than the standard charger that comes with my MacBook itself. As far as keyboard, I prefer the MX keys, full-size mechanical keyboard, because I do use the number pad quite a bit but for travel, I have the logitech K3 80 keyboard and it’s great.
