FANUC America is at the forefront of cutting edge technologies designed to help manufacturers improve the accuracy and repeatability of their arc welding processes through the use of robotics and automation. The following demonstration features the FANUC ARC Mate 100iD arc welding robot used to weld an automotive component while utilizing the latest servo robot seam tracking process control.
While the FANUC ARC Mate 100iD robot first performs a simulation of its MIG welding process, a FANUC LR Mate 200iD robot, equipped with a servo robot sensor, loads coupons to the fixture for welding. Next, the ARC Mate 100iD robot will perform real-time seam tracking before MIG welding the coupons, which are held in a fixture within an automotive suspension cradle.
Upon completion, the LR Mate 200iD performs post weld profile inspection. An Allen Bradley HMI displays all process quality control channels. Additionally, the ARC Mate 100iD robot uses the Lincoln Electric Power Wave R450 for high-speed welding mode. The system highlights the flexibility of the robots to perform multiple operations, offering easy setup and connectivity to the Servo Robot.
