- This week I have some sad news, some good news, and some great news.
I lost some hens, The wood stove is working great and the new charger arrived!
We will discuss Losing chickens to a predator and a few updates so it is not all bad news.
I am a complete novice builder who grew up in sunny California and thought it would be an awesome idea to build my own off grid cabin on raw land in Alaska...what could go wrong?
I have never built a thing in my life so why not a house? OH! and I can live in a trailer while I do it....and work full time! Did I mention that I am out of shape, over weight and 60? What could go wrong?

Lol ! It may have taken you two years to install a wood stove while surrounded by free fuel, but that Ermine got it double quick ! Great stuff !

Maybe every week charged up, And you can shoot a gun too, handy & handsome!! I vote freeze it, maybe another one is around, too big of a job for just one, future video, learning how to skin and tanning, your tree looks great, stay warm and safe, 💓 happy trails

Yup.....no mittens lol...and the batteries will stay above 50% from now on lol
For trivets I use the burner covers off my old cooking stove from my old camper, you can put 2 side by side depending on the size of the pot your gonna use, I currently am using 4

Sorry about your lose of chickens that you got taken from you. But you the rest to take care of there lives. You got a lot of snow ❄️ up there too. Keep warm and stay safe too.

I empty that wood rack maybe once every 4 days or so.
I had no idea ermine are so small. How did such a little bugger eat a chicken, much less 3 of them? Gotta protect those feathered beauties! Love the trees. 😊
He never really ate a chicken....he killed 3 of them and took bits and pieces.

Saw how you carried firewood. That reminded me my old cabin struggles and how I solved that by purchasing firewood carry sling. Wait for a package coming in next 2 weeks.📦

My son up in Fairbanks used to manage a liquor store there and had an ermine inside the store one night running around. Funny little buggers but lethal. Well done.

Crazy warm December! Good shot, ermine are only useful if you don't have chickens. They keep the mice away. Other than that no bueno. They'll chew through Xtratuffs...ask my husband and his hunting buddy lol.
They are little chewing and ending machines!

Sorry about your chickens, here in Texas we have to wire the bottom, top and side to our coop and run, rats, possums,raccoons and coyotes will take it all, we had to put locks on doors because raccoons are smart enough to open latches! It’s was an expense at first but our girls are safe and don’t bother neighbors!

How come you don't use your solar panel now in winter
The sun is too low on the horizon for solar for me now. I have too many trees that block any clear path
Neg to positive between 2 12v gives you 24v output ( series )
Control your 12v by neg to neg pos to pos ( parallel) and charge neg from bat2 pos from Bat1. That gives you an equal charge across both batteries

Do you run your Honda on eco, or full ball?
Full. I found that eco really fouled the system lol....plus, when I have it running, I have a load in it....so eco is not really useful.
Amazon wood rack says out off stock need to choose another and the battery for camera have tried multiple times over the years says cannot ship so I gave up
I need ro remove the batteries....they never ship that stuff up here...I will check that wood rack to! And thank you man....the bread pan and lights are beautiful! Merry Christmas Scott!

Sorry Brother. My girls have killed two ermine so far. However a marten has killed 3 hens and the black bear killed 5. Now down to two hens and two roos. 😞.
