The best thing about this camera probably is that the body and mechanism feel extremely robust and extremely luxurious. It is a cheap camera but does not feel cheap at all. The satisfaction from the sound of that film advance mechanism is so great that you just know it was made to last. Rangefinders are known to be great in terms of flexibility and ease of use; and this one is a superb example in terms of performance/price. Can take sharp photos even in dim light.

For the slow and over lights, can you refer to those lights to adjust your other settings like the f stop ring on the lens or the iso setting? Is that even useful to try?
Hi. Nice video! 👍 I recently found a copy selling online, but it does not have any stamping on the bottom showing where it was made like yours where it says Hong Kong. It makes me doubt if I should buy it. Other than this detail, the camera looks fine to me.
Helo Dave. I have one since 1978 and I love this camera. But I find it a little difficult to focus when there is low light. This also happens to you?. And I still have the original battery. It is a Varta V 164 PX 5.6 V. PHOTO SPECIAL. They haven't made them for many years because they contained mercury. . 😥😥😥 Thanks for share.
When I pull the lever to pass the film, the shutter opens and only closes when I take the photo. The shutter remains open for the entire time between the moment I pull the camera lever and take the picture. Do you know how I solve this issue?
Mine was my grandfather's, I found it a couple of days ago and and it sparked my interest in film photography, mine tooled to be in extremely good condition, it had a leather case and strap, but there was 2 problems, I don't know how to use it, and the battery was corded and apparently they do t make that kind of battery anymore. So if you could tell me how you get a working batter for that thing it would be great, and where to get film and where to get film developed.
The GS model was introduced in 1970 and the only difference between the GS model vs the GSN model is that the GS model has a cold shoe rather than a hot shoe.
The atomic logo may be that the lens is radioactive containing thorium! The lens is quite legendary and they made copies for interchangeable lens cameras.
Just got one shipped to door for $75, film cameras prices have erupted in the last 10 years. in 2007 I had the opportunity to buy a 500cm with two film backs (with matching serials) and three T* primes for $500, I was so done with developing and scanning film as my 8-5 that I scoffed at the idea; I'm sad I didn't buy that kit now...

tks. mine had similar issue with battery not touching, i used yiur trick and works now. a question for u, lightseals, use or not, if so where to put them?
What happens if you use it without battery? What about the shutter speed? I was on the country without any chance of getting a new battery and I snapped a whole film without battery. Don't really know what could be wrong. I will develop it as soon as I get a chance.
The camera will fire at the fastest speed without a battery. 1/500 of a second. If you use 400iso film and use sunny 16 then it should be ok in bright light.
Hello, have a Yashica GSN Electro 35. I wanted to put a new roll of film in my camera, but since then the rewind button won't go all the way down. Which causes it to rewind every time I wind up the camera for a new picture. Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?
Hi, I just got an electro, but it’s not operating at all. The battery light doesn’t come on either. Do you have any idea what’s wrong with it or what i can do?

For the slow and over lights, can you refer to those lights to adjust your other settings like the f stop ring on the lens or the iso setting? Is that even useful to try?
Hi.
Nice video! 👍
I recently found a copy selling online, but it does not have any stamping on the bottom showing where it was made like yours where it says Hong Kong. It makes me doubt if I should buy it.
Other than this detail, the camera looks fine to me.
What adapter should I buy for this camera?
Could you share a link to buy the correct batteries?
i have been struggling to find them!
I just use a 4lr44 battery wrapped with a rubber band and tape. then I put a piece of aluminum to close the gap. Works great with no problems.
When I pull the lever to pass the film, the shutter opens and only closes when I take the photo. The shutter remains open for the entire time between the moment I pull the camera lever and take the picture. Do you know how I solve this issue?
Very helpful! I’m about to shoot a roll with mine!
If the camera not using battery, is it still can use? Or without battery we cannot use the camera?
U can still use ur camera with shutter speed 1/500 only.
Yes I used to use it without sometimes. Its possible to adapt batteries to it.
So if you could tell me how you get a working batter for that thing it would be great, and where to get film and where to get film developed.
you can find a battery adapter in amazon
Thanks for the video! I just brought out my dads that we found in an old box. His is labeled GS in the front not GSN. Any idea what that means?
What type of battery did you have to use. And where did you find one?
Any 6 v alkaline type
U can buy a battery cover for it or remove it from a defective one
great video! just one question tho, so basically if the slow (yellow) and over (red) light both do not show up, that means my exposure’s all set, right?
You’re good to go.
@@DaveMontejano thanks!!
@@DaveMontejano hey, can you also see that yellow or red light inside the viewfinder or you just have to look up top every time you shoot to see if you're under or over exposed??
@@johnadriancabildo5782 you can see it in the viewfinder.
@@DaveMontejano Great! Thank you so much!!
What happen if we accidentally press film release button while the film haven’t finish shot or used yet .
Nothing. Just advance the film with the lever and it’ll reset.
Thank you for the prompt response. So that mean I no need to worry and can keep shot ?
@@DaveMontejano thank you for the prompt response. So that mean I no need to worry and can keep shot ?
@@BennyAun yes. You are fine.
@@DaveMontejano horray !!!!! Thank you . You just my life !!! Because I just brought this camera 6 hours ago . And I learn a lot from your this video . Thank you sir !!
I think I may have loaded the film wrong by not inserting into the second slot. Will the film still work properly?
I have this camera. It's a bit beat up, but it does not have the Hong Kong stamp on the bottom.
Thanks! The shutter button of my camera has been down for years. Is it possible for the button to return to its previous state if I put a battery in it?
is it normal that the aperture blades doesn't move when I play around the aperture ring?
That’s a beautiful 📸. Great vid!
on my mg-1 if I press the shutter just a bit, "over" always lights up, and if I press harder then "slow" lights up .. what does that mean?
tks. mine had similar issue with battery not touching, i used yiur trick and works now. a question for u, lightseals, use or not, if so where to put them?
That was actually helpful thank you ❤
What happens if you use it without battery? What about the shutter speed? I was on the country without any chance of getting a new battery and I snapped a whole film without battery. Don't really know what could be wrong. I will develop it as soon as I get a chance.
Without a battery the camera will fire at 1/500 for every shot. Good luck with your pictures and thanks for stopping by!
@@DaveMontejano Thanks for the answer. Love your channel.
do i need a dark room for this camera?
what if the battery doesnt work? Is it completely necessary for the camera to work?
The camera will fire at the fastest speed without a battery. 1/500 of a second. If you use 400iso film and use sunny 16 then it should be ok in bright light.
What about focus? I think the viewfinder in mine isn’t working properly.
Hello, have a Yashica GSN Electro 35. I wanted to put a new roll of film in my camera, but since then the rewind button won't go all the way down. Which causes it to rewind every time I wind up the camera for a new picture. Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?
Were you ever able to open the battery door? I just got my camera and it won’t turn on.
I have one in a complete black leather case that's not in the best condition. It's in black but the corner letters are GT.
Great video. Thank you!
I’m glad you liked it! Thanks for stopping by!
Just picked one up for 19.99 at goodwill. I figure if it works, awesome. If not, it'll look great on the shelf
I just got one too for $35 Australian dollars. Did yours end up working?
Hi, I just got an electro, but it’s not operating at all. The battery light doesn’t come on either. Do you have any idea what’s wrong with it or what i can do?
Just had this issue. Your batteries are dead. They no longer make the original battery, but you can use a CR123 along with 2 LR44s. They add to the correct voltage and fit in the space correctly
Thanks, nice video and instructions. Did you know your camera have a missing part on shutter button?
Do you know what battery the Yashica 35 uses? I appreciate the help.
You can rig your own adapter with a chapstick shell and lr44 batteries. There are a couple good videos and forums out there for this. Best of luck!
It can now take a small 6v with a stainless steel adapter. Got mine from an ebay seller in the UK. There is also a seller from Spain selling on ebay also.
Battery = Exell A32PX. eBay - No adapter needed
When I press the shutter button halfway always slow light appears. How can I fix this ? :(
