    The brush trick is going to be a game changer. I have closed needles after almost every row ♥

      @daviemac9925  Год назад

      When you're knitting regular rows with all your working needles at the regular working position, it doesn't matter whether they're open or not, as they will open automatically and close again as you knit across the row. If you have needles in the forward position, then you do need to check before knitting that latches are open, or you'll lose the stitches! The brush is OK if you haven't got a cut off credit card.

    Thank you so much for this! In 35 years of machine knitting on all makes of machines - I have never been able to use a Bond successfully, so this gives me hope to try again.

      You're welcome and good luck. The Bond is really easy when you get the hang of it.

      @@daviemac9925 ah well, you can't help being busy, but know that I for one am interested in your videos, and at the moment I am in quarantine as I have covid, so I've been searching for things I can learn about, and as I have a bond, it was a perfect refresher. Looking forward to seeing more when you find the time. Cheers!

      @@daviemac9925 thank you for your kind wishes, youtube is great for exploring when confined to quarters. I guess most things could be applied to the bond, it just might take more manual manipulation. 😁Cheers!

    My Bond only knits in one direction. Why? It will knit right to left but not back again. Someone just gave it to me brand new never used so she doesn't know. Thanks

      @@annesummers09 Look at my machine in the video, see the red rail at the front, (yours maybe a different colour) run your finger along and see do you feel any raised part. Then check along the back row, they should be smooth with no bits sticking up. That's the most common sticking point on these older machines. Can you put the carriage on with no knitting and no keyplate in and slide it back and too? Try that first and then get back to me.

      @@daviemac9925 No raised parts, it rides smoothly. It knits the cast on row but no more rows after that.

      @@annesummers09 If it's the USM Ultimate Sweater Machine, there was a design fault with them. Unfortunately, they are now out of business, the only thing to do is to try and get hold of an older carriage and keyplates and if that doesn't solve the problem, we aren't going to be able to. They said it was an issue with the moulding of the plastic parts, unlike Bond UK they contracted everything out, whereas here everything was made on site. I'm sorry this isn't the positive outcome I like for people.

    can this machine make plain weave pattern like traditional weaving?

    • @daviemac9925
      @daviemac9925  2 года назад

      Yes as a fair isle weave, by selecting set needles to hold and then knitting them by hand with contrast yarn. Or pulling all needles out and weaving contrast yarn over and under alternate needles.
