Top tip..always a little more water than you think... don't turn it into soup though lol 🙂 That's trips a mission, super effort and nicely filmed Linda. Take care, Lisa & Dave
Thanks for advice. Unfortunately I’ve already done the soup trick! 😂 Mushroom pasta soup…really hard to eat with a camping spoon. Thanks for watching too. 👍
Funnily enough I was up there ten days before your trip, even camped in almost the same spot and like you we had the place to ourselves.- 5° both night’s so it was a chilly one. We did the ridge you were pondering over in wonderful winter conditions but I’d say you made the right call given that you were on your own and you didn’t know how tricky it might be. As it happens I’m sure you’d have been fine but better safe than sorry. Interesting to see how much snow melt there had been in those ten day’s. We sat by Ben Alder summit cairn for lunch and there was tons of snow. You were lucky to have such a beautiful day and your filming reflects how stunning it is up there. I very much enjoyed your video and it brought it all back to me. Lovely! Cheers Tim
Thanks so much Tim. I was patiently waiting on the right weather/conditions for my trip. Snow was a concern being on my own so I was glad most of it was gone. I enjoyed it so much there I might go back & do the ridge! Thanks for watching. 🙏
A grand wee trip and nicely filmed and edited. Taking a look at your route options on Google Earth often provides good information Linda but if you're in any doubt it's always best to err on the side of caution as you did
What a great video. Deserves more views, and the video actually gave me some answers to some questions i had in mind about Ben Alder as i am planning to do it soon. Smashing video, loved it.
Thanks so much for putting in the effort of recording you're trip Linda. My introduction to bothying was Ben Alder Cottage and Culra, good effort. A mountain bike would've been a big help. 🙂
great wee trip Linda! Frank and I are planning on doing these munros and it's good to see what it's all about. lovely views and some good decision making! better being safe on your own. cheers again and thanks for sharing! Paul
Shame about the Bothy been closed. I’ve stayed there a couple of times in the past - it’s a great Bothy. When we last climbed Ben Alder, we went up the short Leacheas ridge which was fine. I don’t think you would have had a problem on the other ridge. Thanks for sharing!
Nice one Linda.Have the 6 in there still to do and had looked out these 2 to do 1st.The tracks and paths look good as i will be taking my bike with me.Glad u went with ur instincts on which way to go as there is nothing worse than having an element of doubt/fear to follow u when out solo.😀👍
Another super video Linda, keep 'em coming. It's not often you see on YT the long walk in but that's the way I'll be doing it when I get around to it. And your honesty about route choice dilemmas when out solo - Long Leachas or not - I'm sure will ring a bell with many. Looks like you had a great time anyway. Cheers!
Great area. I was there a few weeks ago, walking across the Fara and camped outside Culra bothy. It is closed due to Abestos but the doors are open in case it is needed in an emergency just if anyone is in the area and needs something in an emergency.
Great video Linda 📹 it's a bit of a trek in just to reach the 🏔 so made sense to wildcamp ⛺ how do you find MSR ? I have just purchased the MSR Elixir 1 so looking forward to doing a few more wildcamps ⛺ I can understand why you might be a bit nervous about the snowy ridge on your own 😨 I would have been the same ! Fantastic shot of the plane 🛩 at the end 👌 brilliant Linda atb Brian 👍
The view to Sgor Iutharn (Pointy one) looks great from your tent. Always meant to do it but never made it when visiting the munros in this area. It is a long walk back to the road, well done on carrying all the gear. Any ideas how much you carried?
It weighed about 10.5 kg before water & lunch for the following day so prob about 11.5-12 kg. I’ve tried hard to cut down on weight but you still need to pack plenty of layers! 🥶
Enjoyed this. Regarding the Long Leachas I understand your trepidation esp being solo. When I done it I thought-is that it? And I am by no means comfortable with exposure. You mentioned you have done the other 4 in the area. Did you do the Lancet Edge and if so how did you find it as I have still to do this? Best wishes. Brian
Thanks Brian, no Lancet Edge. We walked up the Glen from Loch Ossian towards Culra & headed up towards Carn Dearg 1st then a straightforward walk back along the other 3 Munros to the start point. 👍
@@LindaOutdoors Yes,I remembered just after I posted you mentioned it in your report. Also did the 3 from Corrour. The 4th looked so close but we might have missed the train so had to leave it for another day which hasn’t happened yet.
Thanks Jennifer. It was 10.5 kg before adding water & lunch for the next day. I only carried 1 litre of fluid so prob 12 kg at most. Thanks for watching. 👍
Great video Linda. I'm just starting on my Munro adventures. Do you leave your tent pitched when you go exploring and if so have you ever had any issues with gear getting stolen?
I always leave my tent pitched & so far nothing stolen. It has crossed my mind though as it would cost a lot to replace all the gear. I guess it’s a risk you take. Thanks for watching & good luck with the Munros! 👍
Looks a stunning place great camp spot.try putting your food pouch inside an insulated bag it keeps it hotter for longer giving it more time to let the pasta rehydrate Lucy at quint craft does good 1s
Lovely video Linda. And you did right not tackling the ridge. If you feel something doesn't look safe then it's probably not. It's never worth taking the risk. Thanks for sharing your adventure again.
Yet to do these - your video captured the route and terrain so well. Thanks for uploading.🏴⛰
Thanks Nick, hope you enjoy them! Stunning area. Thanks for watching. 👍
Cycled in twice and camped , almost lost my tent in the wind ,incidents like that gives me memories of the place , great vid 👍
One of my favourite trips. Thanks for watching. 👍
Lovely views.
Great stuff. I must go there in May when I'm in the area.

just like to say thank you Linda great mountain range your video gave me a massive lift today not a good day at work.
Glad you’re enjoying the videos. Nothing like a bit of mountain therapy to take your mind off work. Hope tomorrow’s a better day. 👍

All those dehydrated meals are disgusting. Dunno how anyone eats them. Fab video as usual!!
Thanks so much. When you’re hungry they do fill a hole but yeah, I agree most aren’t great. 🙁
Did you have to detour down 1km to cross the railway line?
I did but I’ve heard others have climbed over the locked gate. Not so easy if you have a bike. 👍
