  • @pileus_storm

    It's art. It's an artist being artistic.
    A lot of ppl think songs have to hit the same as something they heard from that same artist.
    As The Rhyme Goes On is like many other songs Rakim writes, and it presents a different rhyme schemes he uses. His songs aren't an all in one deal.
    It's not just about syllables. You're simplifying his writing as being one thing.
    He is telling you the formula of his rhyme scheme, and its much more complex than just syllables, but that's all ppl hear when they listen to Rakim because that's what most are focused on. Like, at, cat, rat and sat. That's how you all listen to rap music. Stop it...
    He is telling a story, and within the concept and context of the rhymes, he's narrating the title, but all you all hear is syllable rhyming.
    He has a song titled No Omega. in short, is the last letter of the Greek alphabet.he starts it off reflecting on himself in idea of the title.
    I don't think anyone is following the conversation or his storytelling within the conversation of his rhyme scheme.
    It's like you ppl are just listening to him rhyme
    There is an old song titled "We Have A Message In Our Music".
    If you just listen for the rhyming, you will never get the message. It's one of the reasons why our music fades and other ppl steal it. No one is really listening to what's being said.

    People,people we must understand. This young man has absolutely no idea who Rakim is or what Rakim has done for Rap. HipHop is not a culture without Eric b and Rakim. Young blood has only dipped his toe in this ocean of rhymes by Rakim. Be careful on this journey.

    • @careless-minds

    • @seanwright8786
      @seanwright8786 5 месяцев назад

      @careless-minds
      Not at all young blood. Read the comment again. I respectfully submit to you that your understanding of Rakim's rhyme style is due to you not having a thorough awareness of how past rhyming styles were prior to '86. It's not any disrespect or clap at you.
      Rakim's root is jazz music. He rhymes in the pocket of the melody at times which may move at a different tempo of the beat.
      There's a RUclips channel by a brother named Jayquan called
      Foundation Lessons: Why Rakim is the God MC.
      Please review that and perhaps you may meet us halfway on what exactly it is that we see. Of course your viewpoint is duly noted and richly respected. For a young man your age, you are a growing in your outlook of the music of our youth. The sound that still moves the planet, and has branched off to other genres. I have sons aged 29, 26, and 19. I've nursed them on this music. My 19 year old can appreciate it but he lacks a reference point to truly get the nuance of the flow, the cadence, the melody and the beat. It's an issue of you hearing what you hear based on your point of reference. No, I'm not trying to be sarcastic. You are doing a hell of a job. Salute to you, young King.

    Your probably not really musically inclined, I think your so use to one speed, one style of music,if you rewind the video you will see your off, I don't think you listen to lyrics, like in the beginning where he says how could you be hip hop if your not mentally as well he might be speaking to you, you have to understand the evolution to appreciate, I am going to help you absorb or be in a Rakim state of mind, to really appreciate Rakim, not because he is cliche legend, you go from beginning album, then go in chronological order, do not jump around cause his joints is organized, then it would make sense, it's really a vibe, not cliche form of vibe, but a vibe

    Let me explain something. Before trap, drill, even before crunk there was versatility in hip hop. One of the staples back then is an emcee being able to change flow multiple times throughout a song and still come back on beat meanwhile maintaining the actual flow of the beat. Everything now is a hypnotic, repetitive loop. It's not an art form anymore. This is why an album can be done in less than an hour now. Before it would take approximately months to a year and better to make a proper album. Another reason why songs from then are remembered and cherished. These newer artists' songs aren't remembered weeks after their releases. Everybody sounds the same and like everybody else now. There are really no distinctions between artists.
