That engine is clearly in lovely condition - running so smooth and quiet. And whoever designed the hull really knew their job - look how little wake the 'Engelbrekt' is leaving behind her; sliding through the water as smooth as silk!
That would have to be the DS Unterwalden then. The Funnel retracts like a Telescope though; only the Masts are folding. IIRC the Wheelhouse has to be lowered too to pass the Acheregg Bridge.
Ah!... What wonderful nostalgia. :-) I was a marine engine until I was 30..... Always steam ships and one was a triple expansion which I still bore my friends with now.. LOL. Somebody notes that you have no gloves, but that was what I used my cap for!! A lovely video, thank you for sharing. Keep a steady watch.
Very nice engine room and a well maintained compound steam engine. I have worked on triple expansion as well as steam turbine ships. I fired boilers on the Red Oak Victory now a museum ship in Richmond California USA. When you go down in a steam ships engine room it has it's pleasant smell of steam on iron. It is not the same as steam smell when you are cooking, not even close. Thanks
man säger ju att ångmaskiner har en låg effekt-grad. Men jag förstår inte hur man räknar ut det... det verkar snarare extremt effektivt, slänga in några ved-trän sedan kan man köra en flera ton tung båt i 15 knop
Yes, what is commonly called “compound”, just a high and a low pressure cylinder. I guess it is because it’s a small boat and there would be little added economy of a triple expansion machine. If I’m not mistaken, it is a canal ship, probably on Göta kanal, so it is small and can’t go very fast anyway so this configuration probably was the most sensible for the original operator.
Engelbrekt’s home harbour is Leksand and is in traffic on lake Siljan and Österdalälven/Dalälven in the county Dalarna (Dalecarlia) in Sweden. See also www.steamship.nu I’m not sure if it is in english.

What a beautiful work of art.. The engine too !!!😊
I liked the folding funnel. I travelled on a steamship on Lake Lucerne and they did the same to get under a bridge.

Wow, that's a great video. I will always cheer for you in Korea I'm looking forward to a great video. Have a nice day.
Häftigt! 🚢
awesome
Looks like the full size version of one that Keith Appleton just built. But his was triple expansion.

👏😉👏 Fantastic.
Lovely engine, lovely lady.
Yes, with her as steam engine operator the machine runs smoothly.
Also see this clip where she is a stoker on SS Mariefred: ruclips.net/video/XmLVh4UuNIM/видео.html

LEKSAND? Min morfar drog timmer med SS Älvdalen en gång i tiden.
Kul att ni eldar med ved. Många gamla ångmaskiner är väl konverterade till att gå på brännolja.

Gut !!! Sehr gut !!!
Love that sound of steam. I would love working with at that gal she has a very contagious smile.
Engelbrekt är väl en gammal passagerarbåt till skillnad från de timmerdragare som var i flottningen på Siljan.
Ja, hon byggdes för persontrafik på Siljan, Orsasjön och Österdalälven.
My dream job ! .🥰

Var är engelbrekt byggd?
På Lindholmens varv i Göteborg år 1866.
Inte helt rätt.
Den slutliga monteringen skedde i Mora
Double expansion engine?

@@billalbion I can dig that but sometimes there's a reason for it, you wouldn't want to wear gloves while using a wood chipper among other things.
