- Hey everyone, Kecki here!
After I got some insightful tips on how to use the idle charge for the Great Sword in valor style, I decided to pay good old Tigrex another visit. Getting in 3 charged draw attacks while he's knocked out makes a huge difference and I'm glad I've finally mastered this technique.

Crit draw and crit boost work so well together, it’s as if they were made for each other
As well as punishing draw but doesn't really work well with crit boost lol

damn that headsniping tho. amazing run man. i would love to see you do a valor gs speedrun with zinogre. headsniping him is really hard but someone in portable 3rd did it so well
Thanks! Might be something I could try and attempt. Haven't done a Zinogre solo run, since we have a 2-man team run on the channel so far, but if I find the time, will certainly give it a try and see how it goes :)
Headsniping zinogre isnt hard tho, he also has a very exploitable turn around animation and lots of his moves leave his head wide open

It's so nice to see monster hunter where taking a shit load of free damage isn't just a part of the gameplay, like it is in Iceborne.
The godlike rng with tigrex doing normal turn around instead of the insta charge turn around, youre a beast

2:37 when you expect tigrex to turn around but he just standing there taking a breather. It would be 5 seconds faster if he had turned at your direction
Yes I know the feeling very well lol - experienced that many times, but this run was very good otherwise so I kept it. The odds are too low in my opinion to get him to turn every time, so O settled for this 😁

thanks! while your weapon is sheathed, just press x+a together. you have some control in which direction you want to draw your weapon then as well. takes some getting used to and practice, but yes very handy indeed! :)
You also can't be running but if you want to quickly do it you can quickly let go of R and then press x+a it's very cool to pull off the first time

What transmog you use for this set?
It looks like zamtrios x head, gloves, and legs, some kind of shagaru waist, and nakarkos chest

For some hunts yes it just simply works that well when paired with this great sword :)
There are some stronger sets out there, but they require a different playstyle so it’s pretty dependent on the monster
This is insane. I only realize now how terrible at this game I am lol. I could never pull off those charges.
you could lol, if i can anyone else can as well. but it does take a lot of practice and retries to get better ;)
i dont say this to brag or patronize, you totally can do it. monsters have rules in the old world, and once you learn them, anyone can absolutely pull off cool headsnipes and shit, speedrunners really just a)do more damage and b)get them more often and more consistently, as well as being more able to create their OWN openings with flinch counting and such
your strat was godlike, stay behind monster and charge until he turns, then do a quick hit then repeat. i wonder if you applied that strat on other monsters too? or just works on tigrex
Late reply, was absent for some time. Thanks! It’s pretty dependent on the monsters behavior. Usually for a great sword user it will mainly boil down to how well you know the monsters moves. Tigrex definitely is a prime example of a monster that can be predicted very well.
Aside from him, I have tried making use of a similar strat against Gore Magala and Yian Garuga/Deadeye. Zinogre works quite well too I think, though I’m not as familiar with its moveset 😁

Am I being stupid here? Why is the sharpness going up during a Valor sheathe?
It’s one of the skills. Sheathe Sharpen/Challenge Sheathe - has a 35% chance to proc and restore a few units of sharpness whenever you sheathe your weapon and as long as the monster is enraged. Blends extremely well with a crit draw GS build :)

Is valor armor and the valor greatsword the best greatsword gear? I’m only 15 hours into MHGU, I’m just wondering how long it takes to achieve that armor and greatsword and skills? Thanks!
It’ll take quite a while for this particular set. That’s only available in G-Rank. There is a High Rank version of this set, but it only gets Focus and Crit Draw, so maybe you will be able to make something better with whatever charms you can find and see what armor set builders like Athenas Armor Set Search can come up with for High Rank :)

Colour Red yeah it was, but granted: gs just is the better match against a tigrex so it’s hard to compare 😁

Why does he hit himself with a barrel bomb at the start of the quest?
If you still didnt know after all these months, it's to cancel out the long flex animation of might seed speedrunners use this a lot.
How come you can charge so fast? Even with focus, I’m way slower than what you can do...
it depends on what hunting style you are using. valor style for great sword has and increased buildup for the charge levels once you get into valor mode (even without the focus skill) if you have focus on top of that as an active skill, then the charges will speed up as fast as mine did in this run :)
really don't know how you can stop sprinting really fast and charge like that
Pressing the x + a and r button together makes you immediately go into a charge while running. Can take some getting used to :)
Why you can KO the monster without pubishing draw?
This armor set has a compound skill called "sheath control" - it gives me 2 skills, punishing draw and quick sheath :)

That's a Challenge Sheath 10 Guard Up 5 ooo , the second skill is irrelevant.
If you can get your hands on a Challenge Sheath 10 ooo it will be perfect synergy for the full black x armor combined with the neset GS

What layered armor is this? It looks awesome and I want it
from what i can recall, i mainly used the high rank zamtrios armor pieces for head, arms and legs, then the arc faulds xr i think for the waist and the chest piece was the astral suit x from nakarkos :) , works really well, especially because you have plentiful options for coloration that fits ^^

Hunters Domain Ist schon krass was das für nen Unterschied macht für Tiggy. Aber nice dass wir jetzt schon zu dritt sind in der sub 3 gang haha

Hunters Domain Jo wir sind grad dabei die Strat für die KOs zu optimieren, mussten aber aufhören wegen Lags. Wär schon nice nen vierten Spieler zu haben, ich denke sub 1 sollte dann möglich sein ^^
