There was a bad period with and for Nightwish during their tour i US around 2012 (if I remember correctly), they lost their 2nd vocalist to flu and she got to be hospitalized. In the same period, Floor saved the day as live vocalist replacement. There was even 1 show (I think in LA) where the vocalists from Kamelot (Elize Ryd and Alyssa White-Gluz) had to step in and sang with Nightwish while holding printed lyrics on stage. Lesson learned and Floor entered Nightwish.
Nemo is a timeless classic from the Tarja's era. This acoustic version is very beautiful but also quite a powerful. Floor is excellent as always. Very nice of you to notice Troy's skills of guitar playing and singing there. Thank you!
Tarja's rendition of Nemo was my introduction to Nightwish ~15yrs ago - I was instantly hooked! Anette's version was one of her better efforts and I actually enjoyed it; but Floor really kills it at Wacken 2013. I appreciate this stripped down version for its ability to highlight Floor's vocals; I don't think a single guitar does justice to Tuomas' composition though. There are so many melodies and harmonies missing that inform and reinforce the vocals. It makes me miss the "full" versions!

Great to see Troy get some love. He's a very underrated member of the band but has become more and more influential since the decades tour where he was one of the vocalists and the band realised that they could get rid of the pre-recorded vocal harmonies and use the three excellent vocalists they have, Troy even got his own lead song with Harvest on the new album. Floor as ever was a delightful masterclass in singing and vocalisation but then everyone expects nothing less with everything she does. She even finally succumbed to pressure and sang on her live stream this week and she was obviously still stunning even through a phone microphone in her house. Talent is talent no matter the equipment.
Somehow, all of the older Nightwish songs that Floor takes on straight, without making them as if written for her, they seem so ethereal and full of hope, whereas Tarja sings them as an oncoming storm all foreboding and irresistible. Both amazing, but cannot stop to fathom how different they manage to sound.

There's a part where she holds a pretty high note for what seems like forever and then a part where she instantly goes from high head voice stocatto notes to a mix voice (I think. May I suggest you to listen to : Afterforever : "Intrinsic"... if you like poetry in music, you re will be pleased ! Surprise :) Mark Jansen is the songwriter, a great musician like Tuomas. He is actually is the male singer of Epica. you should try also this group too ! When he composes his songs, he only plans to play them with a philharmonic orchestra. which makes them particularly powerful. "Chasing the dragon" by Epica is my favorite because it has EVERYTHING you could hope to hear in a song. Oh, I've almost forget !! (hihihi !!!) they also made 2 duets with Floor : "Stabbat Mater Dolorosa" and Sancta Terra => in the "Epic" DVD Retrospect - EPICA (with an philharmonic orchestra and Choir !!). If you do go for the original version of this song, the best performance of it (in my opinion) is from the 2018 Buenos Aires show. The Wacken performance is great, and the studio with Tarja is great, but the Buenos Aires version just has all these extra little embellishments that set it head and shoulders above other performances.
All of us fans are hoping for a full on acoustic concert from Nightwish. It would be so wonderful with piano, acoustic guitar and all of Troy's traditional instruments. Once again wonderful reaction and analysis Christi! Be well. Peace.

That was great! The original version was with Tarja, I love the Floor's version in Wacken or Wembley though, she adds more of her improvisation vocals in the end. Either is great, it was a major hit back when it was released as a single.
It is funny to note that Troy is not even officially a guitarist in the band, he rarely plays guitar on stage or the studio. Please also react to the acoustic version of the song from the recent album How's The Heart at the same Planet Rock session.

This song is obviously so good that it allows totally different performances. Look at the version Tim Akkerman sung for Floor in Beste Zangers: ruclips.net/video/aRu-2tWzRf8/видео.html. Differences hardly could be greater, but also attractive (look at Floors reaction!).
The only bad Nightwish experience I've had was them doing The Poet And The Pendulum at Montreux Jazz Festival in 2012 when Anette Olzon was lead singer she was downright flat in parts. And she couldn't do the high parts Floor does without struggling.
Just know this. If you do listen to Liliac, there's no turning back. It's a 5 piece family band and the singers voice can be haunting. Shes a mix of Joan Baez, Doro Pesch, Janis Joplin and Ronnie James Dio.

Im a little bit worried about the "capo" comment. Cuz I play guitar, and Im not good. And I can play that song in troy`s version easily. All of that is very very simple. Compared to good guitarists all of this is beginning stuff. I`m not saying is not pretty, or even perfect to the song itself. Complicated doesnt mean good. BUT with that being said. Even the picking part is very very easy. If I say to someone "give me a E on A" and they are studying for a 1 or so they NEED to know what Im talking about. I love nightwish, but by technicality they are not very complex (besides floor). The melodies, the composition, the lyrics, the story telling all of this is 10/10. One of the best band of all times. BUT musically speaking is not mind blowing. Is like... "yeah I can do that" And if I can do it, is not a big of a deal. AGAIN Thuomas is a genious, no doubt. But we wont be blown away by technicalities. But we will by everything else.

Listening to floor first was a mistake. This song was written for Tarja. All due respect to floor bur she does not bring Tarja's singing abilities into this. I would suggest sticking to the sings written for her and stick to Tarja's songs , sung by her. To hear her is to understand why she is a Queen.

This song is obviously so good that it allows totally different performances. Look at the version Tim Akkerman sung for Floor in Beste Zangers: ruclips.net/video/aRu-2tWzRf8/видео.html. Differences hardly could be greater, but also attractive (look at Floors reaction!).

The only bad Nightwish experience I've had was them doing The Poet And The Pendulum at Montreux Jazz Festival in 2012 when Anette Olzon was lead singer she was downright flat in parts. And she couldn't do the high parts Floor does without struggling.
I recommend you listen to the album version at some point, no need to do a video about it, but just to get the comparison for yourself.

Just know this. If you do listen to Liliac, there's no turning back. It's a 5 piece family band and the singers voice can be haunting. Shes a mix of Joan Baez, Doro Pesch, Janis Joplin and Ronnie James Dio.

Im a little bit worried about the "capo" comment. Cuz I play guitar, and Im not good. And I can play that song in troy`s version easily. All of that is very very simple. Compared to good guitarists all of this is beginning stuff. I`m not saying is not pretty, or even perfect to the song itself. Complicated doesnt mean good. BUT with that being said. Even the picking part is very very easy. If I say to someone "give me a E on A" and they are studying for a 1 or so they NEED to know what Im talking about. I love nightwish, but by technicality they are not very complex (besides floor). The melodies, the composition, the lyrics, the story telling all of this is 10/10. One of the best band of all times. BUT musically speaking is not mind blowing. Is like... "yeah I can do that" And if I can do it, is not a big of a deal. AGAIN Thuomas is a genious, no doubt. But we wont be blown away by technicalities. But we will by everything else.

The original version with band would be without Floor and Troy. With Tarja and Jukka (drums).
I personally would skip the official video clip (to much production) and go for the End of an Era - Live version (Tarja's last concert with Nightwish 😭)

I prefer Floor in general, but I do actually agree that for your first listen of Nemo you need to watch End of Era version.

When this song came out, Nightwish was most everything I was interested in (musically)... maybe that is why I will always liked Tarjas version better.

Listening to floor first was a mistake. This song was written for Tarja. All due respect to floor bur she does not bring Tarja's singing abilities into this. I would suggest sticking to the sings written for her and stick to Tarja's songs , sung by her. To hear her is to understand why she is a Queen.
for once I would say Floor messed up the ending..... it is supposed to sound thin and vulnerable, the original does that and I think it suits the lyrics and song much better
