Do you like to decorate with faux flowers? Visit my corresponding blogpost for more pictures, links and much more dailyconnoisseur.blogspot.com/2018/05/how-to-make-faux-flowers-look-chic.html See you Thursday for a pregnancy chat! Have a great week! Love, Jennifer
Thank you so much for this video, Jennifer. Recently, I had an older acquaintance seriously turn up her nose at me when I told her that I used fake flowers in my home due to lack of good sunlight in the livingroom and hallway. I thought that I had dismissed it, but I hadn't. Silly as this may sound, I was actually starting to feel bad that my lovely home was now somehow "less than" or must be cheap or tacky if I dared use fake flowers! Now I realize how stupid I was to allow that kind of thinking, and take pride again in beautifying my home and using lovely handmade arrangements where I need them!! 😃👍❤️
Who in the hell has the stones to snub someone over fake flowers? Sounds like that person has a really charmed life if she has time to pass judgement about something so petty
Back in the 1960's we had plastic fake flowers! We got 3 plastic flower arrangements as wedding gifts in 1969--along with 3 fondue pots! My how times have changed...from Grandma Bunny in Arizona.
I live in the Caribbean, and have lots of different foliage in abundance…so I mix in faux flowers with the foliage…love it …..and so budget friendly for my pocket ! thanks for your tips
Such a lovely collection of faux flowers! I never heard of leaf ribbon before. Thank you so much for the tip. I use faux flowers in my dining room on the buffet. I change them out according to the season.(sunflowers for fall, crocuses for spring, white hydrangea for summer etc.) . I place the flowers in a blue and white vase so no stems are visible. Hope you had a very Happy Mother's Day!💐
Hi Jen : I use faux flowers all through my home. I have small pets and faux are safer as well as they don't wither and drop pollen all over. My tip for saving? Buy fm the $ Tree! They carry beautiful flowers and ferns and I switch them out seasonally. I may try your leaf ribbon, but for now I use flat iridescent stones which have a watery quality, also fm the $ store!
Leaf ribbon...brilliant! You're so right about the inside of professionally created bouquets being lined with leaves. My May Day bouquet from my daughter was in a square glass vase lined with beautiful broad leaves.
I use faux flowers everywhere in my house. I collect vintage pottery like McCoy, Roseville, also Talavera in which I would not want to put water and soil. The pieces are opaque so there is no need for the floral leaf tape which I had never seen before and it is pretty cool. I also find interesting small branches that fall off of the pecan tree in my backyard and add them to my arrangements. That detail REALLY makes them look alive!
I too am a faux flower fan! I have a few plants, I grow lilacs, peonies and roses, but I depend on faux flowers for all the little dark corners. They are inexpensive and cheerful!
Elegant! I can not believe the lavender flowers are faux! 😮 They look exactly like my lavender growing in my garden. Wow beautiful. I have zero faux plants and flowers because like you mentioned, I always thought of faux flowers as those awful looking plants from the 80's. I've had a change of mind and have been searching Amazon for faux plants since your last video. Thank you!
I now use all fake inside the house. Some are flowers. Some are potted greenery. I like the idea with the leaf ribbon. In my clear vases I have small pieces of coloured sea glass and in others river rocks. We recently renovated a small bathroom off our daughters bedroom. As most of this bathroom is white with a sea green strip of tiles going around the room I have an abundance of tiny potted green plants on the window sills and around the bath. In the bath is a white wicker basket I have filled with short stemmed coloured flowers of many different types that I purchased from a florist. That bathroom looks absolutely amazing and it is now my makeup room as our daughter is in her 30's and left home many years ago. Thank you Jennifer.
Hi Jennifer, Your faux flowers are really lovely. Another option is a faceted cut glass or crystal vase...the facets blur the stems very nicely. You can also add small clear glass stones to keep the flowers in place and add more light reflection. My personal favourite is a beautiful ceramic vase that hides everything underneath and lets you support the flowers with whatever means to get the best arrangement, and to my eye, the most aesthetic appealing option for real or faux arrangements.
Thank you so much ,I'm allergic to real flowers. So I decorate with faux flowers. I buy almost all of them at hobby Lobby at 50% off. Great ideas. Some times I use clear acrylic in the bottom of the vase and it looks like it's in water. If had people try to smell the flowers, thinking they are real.lol.
I have a faux cerise orchid and get many positive comments from guests. Most think it's real. I keep mine in a nice white flower pot. I think it's important to keep it dust-free in order to make it look 'fresh'.
I don't usually volunteer this information, but many of my wedding flowers were faux from Hobby Lobby! ;) I was so impressed with both the realistic look and even texture of the petals, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to save on our budget! :)
Last year I did a faux flower bouquet for a bride, with a mix of flowers, it looked so real that someone put it in the fridge to keep it from wilting. I wrapped the stems with ribbon so the person couldn't tell when it was lifted plus the flowers were scented.
I’m so inspired! I once received a beautiful tropical arrangement from a florist. They lined the entire glass, square vase (rhymes with case...lol) with real banana leaves and it was SO chic and beautiful. I am going to try and find some fake ones and do the same method. Thanks so much for sharing! Love this idea :)💐🌿🌱🌺
You have great attitude! It's amazing just how much we can reveal bout our own selves in a short video. You come across as a genuine and caring person . Becuz "snooty and snobby" just doesn't look good . Thanks
I love faux flowers in my home. There are times of the year, and spaces in my home that just need some cheer. I have a beautiful faux orchid that never looses its blooms! My daughter and I laugh about how amazing my orchid looks, no matter what I do. Thank you for your lovely tips, I didn’t know about leaf ribbon. -Connie
I have a faux orchid in our upstairs bathroom that has very low light and it looks so realistic. Real orchids never lasted there. I'm so happy with my faux one! Thanks for watching.
Faux flowers have increased in quality to the point of looking real and they are also very affordable. Far from the ones we had back in tbe 80s ha ha...All we need to do now is watch this nice video lesson from Jennifer and try to replicate at home 😍
Up until a year ago I bought fresh flowers from my grocery store every few weeks but found that the prices were rising and the bouquets were rapidly shrinking. So I went to the dollar store and selected what I thought to be the most realistic looking flowers, a small round vase and some rocks. Overall I am quite pleased with my first attempt at flower arranging. Earlier this spring I purchased 2 additional floral arrangements. One is a Lamb's Ear in a clear vase with that "fake" water which looks pretty real as does the plant, another is a lavender arrangement in a solid vase with moss around the base of the plant. Too make it even more realistic I tucked in a sachet of lavender wax.
Hi Jennifer! I have one bouquet of faux flowers, but since you mentioned this in a recent video I having been shopping online for more!! Thank you as always!!
Yes darlin that's all I use, my thumb is not green lol, I normally put them in vases like white pitchers, I have beautiful gold vases on the mantel. I have vases like yours that is a great idea I'm GOINT to try it!
Your arrangements certainly look very real! It is really nice that we have better materials to work with these days. You can always just use solid vases or containers. I particularly love old silver and vintage pottery. Then you can just fill it with whatever...glass pebbles, stones, even rice or dried peas. Anything that will allow you to arrange your flowers and hold them in place. I've also used the old fashioned "frogs" for dried flowers. However, I will look for the leaf ribbon. Never seen this before! The dried lavender looked like it had just been picked! Thank you...love all your videos.
I love faux flowers and think they brighten any home. I am about to do faux flower bouquets for my daughters wedding, fingers crossed they turn out ok.
Hi! I have a faux pathos draped on a bathroom shelf because it has a north facing window. I will try the leaf tape suggestion. Thank you for helping in all areas of homemaking .
Hi Jennifer! I'd love to know how you keep the beautiful arrangements looking clean and fresh...not dusty. They start out so nice, but mine have always seemed to look bad after awhile. Any tips? Thanks!
Have someone hold the ribbon tight while you cut it should make it easier to cut. Thanks for sharing they look beautiful! By the way that color looks great on you 👍❤
What a fantastic faux flower idea! I love it, I have many small brightly coloured faux flowers but they usually come in pots already so this makes them look unreal but I usually keep them high up on shelves or bookcases. Love all your ideas Jennifer! Today (as suggested in 'your what I look like in the middle of the day video')I used my apron to house my phone so I could listen to tunes on there while I did some chores around the house! Why didn't I think of this before? :) thank you.
Your flower arrangements are beautiful, Jennifer! Yes I use faux flowers in the living room of my apartment. The lighting isn’t very good in there. I bought a metal container at DT, used a Styrofoam block in the bottom, and added a variety of beautiful lavender flowers from DT. I bought one of the flowers at Joann’s and added Spanish moss with pansies around the top. It brought such an air of spring time to my room! I also have in a dark corner of the living room, a clear glass floral vase with flowers from DT in shades of pinks. I may have to try using the floral leaf that you used in this arrangement. Where did you buy this item? Thanks in advance for your reply!
I'll have to see if I can find some next time I go someplace that has flowers. I have alot of live plants and find that lights have to stay on for them. I guess I could save some hydro but I do love live plants as air cleaners in our home 🌹
Love flowers in my house, but the problem with faux flowers is that they are just so bad for the environment. I'm trying my best to reduce plastic in my life that can just end up in the ocean so I won't be bringing any faux flowers into my house. These are my favorite colors for floral arrangements though!
Yes I use faux. Flowers. I love them. I think a home should be made up of thins that the person bowels in it like. Plus real flowers are expensive. I this hard times it’s difficult to pay for real flowers.
I so appreciate and follow your blogs and videos with delight. However, as you mention Hobby Lobby, I want to express my deep concern about the detrimental position Hobby Lobby takes on women's issues. Thank you

The flowers were pretty enough for her to look at them. This person sounds a little too judgmental.
Wow. Sounds like a hater not. An acquaintance 😮
Don’t feel bad. ♥️
Who in the hell has the stones to snub someone over fake flowers? Sounds like that person has a really charmed life if she has time to pass judgement about something so petty
Our friends with allergies appreciate these flowers as well. Can’t wait to make an arrangement soon!

That is a great suggestion! You are comment of the week :)
As many times I’ve been in craft stores why haven’t I ever seen this ribbon before?

One of my best friends had faux flowers in her wedding and they were gorgeous xo
Danson for Joy I used faux too :) still don’t regret it!

Thank you, Teri! I can't wait to watch your home tour videos! xo
Vase only rhymes with case if you're American. Everywhere else its pronounced - vaahse. No wrong was to say it! Remember the song??
You have great attitude! It's amazing just how much we can reveal bout our own selves in a short video.
You come across as a genuine and caring person .
Becuz "snooty and snobby" just doesn't look good .

Yes, fresh flowers can get very pricey. That's another good point!
Hi Jennifer! I have one bouquet of faux flowers, but since you mentioned this in a recent video I having been shopping online for more!! Thank you as always!!

I don’t decorate with faux flowers, but I will now! Thank you!

I had an orchid that would not rebloom. So I put fake blooms with real plant leaves. Half real half fake !
Connie Lewis, cool! I also do the same! Orchid without flowers looks so sad to me 😀
I love faux flowers and think they brighten any home. I am about to do faux flower bouquets for my daughters wedding, fingers crossed they turn out ok.
How fun! Enjoy!
Wow! These do look real! I've shied away from having flowers because the pets usually try to eat them. I think I'll try this method. Thank you!
I've never seen that before. They look great! Thank you for sharing
Hi Jennifer! Lovely video. I really like that viburnum and the lavender does look real. Thank you for sharing! I need to get to the craft store;)
Hi! I have a faux pathos draped on a bathroom shelf because it has a north facing window. I will try the leaf tape suggestion. Thank you for helping in all areas of homemaking .
They are so pretty!!!🌸🌸🌸
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching! xo

Your arrangements look so chic and beautiful! I really love them! Thank you for sharing your tip with the leaf ribbon, this looks so nice. :-)
I have real plants and trees, but my flowers are faux. I don't like the fact that the flowers die so fast.
Your flower arrangements are beautiful, Jennifer! Yes I use faux flowers in the living room of my apartment. The lighting isn’t very good in there. Hi Gaila, I've linked the ribbon in the info box as well as in the blogpost. Thank you!
Your arrangements are really lovely!
These are what I need because of allergies to flowers.
Yes, I use them all the time
I have a lot of artificial flowers and artificial green plants made of silk cloth, and many vases
Yes! Vase said correctly !
or we can use pebbles, if such ribbon is not available. :)
Absolutely stunning!~
I'll have to see if I can find some next time I go someplace that has flowers. I have alot of live plants and find that lights have to stay on for them. I guess I could save some hydro but I do love live plants as air cleaners in our home 🌹
Hi! Are you able to link the lavender spray? It is so challenging to find it online - the picture just don't do them justice.
What is the best way to deal with dust ?
Chopsticks would be helpful to move the ribbon around
How do you keep from dust collecting on them?
Kristi Beth she did mention you have to dust them - same with real plants though.
Ah where did u buy virbunum flowers lovely great tip xx🙋♀️
thank you ,i was thinking may be you could use razor to cut the leaf ruban
What a great idea, ty so much!!
Great tip🎉😊❤
Love flowers in my house, but the problem with faux flowers is that they are just so bad for the environment. I'm trying my best to reduce plastic in my life that can just end up in the ocean so I won't be bringing any faux flowers into my house. These are my favorite colors for floral arrangements though!
Very helpful!😍😍😍😍😍
Lovely😁Thank you
What on earth is that ribbon made out of? That was so hard to cut, I’m not sure I’m willing to fight with it. Luckily I have several ceramic vases!
Your arrangements are lovely! How often do you dust them? And what do you use to do so?
Jennifer I noticed your beautiful wrist watch! What is it if I may ask ? :)
It's a Tag Heuer. Thank you!
Hi sorry to ask isn't it easier to cut it with pen knife.
I have many artificial flowers and artificial green plants with low price and high quality
Yes I use faux. Flowers. I love them. I think a home should be made up of thins that the person bowels in it like. Plus real flowers are expensive. I this hard times it’s difficult to pay for real flowers.
Sorry about the typo I meant a person who lives in the house likes.
Hi, I have your three books :))
Hi
Your scissors just need to be sharp to make clean cuts.
Artificial wedding boutiquet how to do
Hi Jennifer!
Hi Tammy! You're the first comment :)
the Daily Connoisseur yay so happy,it’s the little things!
Stick to one color and don't pretend they're real. Done.
M
I so appreciate and follow your blogs and videos with delight. However, as you mention Hobby Lobby, I want to express my deep concern about the detrimental position Hobby Lobby takes on women's issues. Thank you
I second that. As hard is it is to fathom, however, there are many who agree with Hobby Lobby's positions and see no issue with their practices.
Jeanette Gadeberg What detrimental positions? My view of Hobby Lobby is very positive.
I only have Michael's. I'll have to do some research on Hobby Lobby. Women have to stick together in these issues.
This sucked! Who cares about leaf ribbon. There was no tutorial on making the flowers look chic this was total Clickbait.
