Mother's Day in Costa Rica! 💐

I had no idea Mother's Day was in August here in Costa Rica! Nor did I know that it was a NATIONAL HOLIDAY. It falls on a Monday on the Day of Assumption - which is believed to be the day the Mother Mary of Jesus was Assumed up into heaven - both body and spirit. Because Mother's Day in Costa Rica is a National Holiday - it is a day off of school and work! They traditionally gather as a family and have a big lunch as well as provide gifts and treats for the mothers!
Today for Mother's Day, not only did my boys give me cards and gifts, but we were invited over to a Costa Rican's family's house for a Mother's Day lunch! It was so fun! They were so kind and friendly and fed us such good food! We are so grateful for the kind people here in Costa Rica!
