She started as a lonely little girl, now she has a pet and best friend who she adores and loves her in return, and now she has a whole gang of new friends.
And notice, as well, when we see Jenny and the butler in the car, she's clearly very sad and disappointed because her parents are away in Europe and they are going to miss her birthday because they have to stay longer than planned. We can even see that while Winston tries to reassure her that they'll be back in time for her birthday, she doesn't believe this. She also strikes me as being very lonely. So when she finds Oliver, and they form their friendship, we see Jenny start to be happy again and then, we clearly see her enjoying her birthday party with her new friends. This return to happiness is reflected in Fagin's character as well. When we first meet Fagin, he is trapped in this debt to Mr. Sykes and he feels completely hopeless. But he clearly loves the dogs who make up his family in their humble home. The dogs take care of their master by tucking him in and sharing that moment with the bedtime story, and Fagin clearly cares about his dogs because while they are completely broke, he still gets them dog biscuits.
He's a diamond in the rough. He CAN be good, he's just been riding with the wrong crowds. Once he learns how to behave better from Jenny's family and Winston He'll clean up real nicely
Just goes to show that it doesn't matter where you come from or if you've had a tougher life than others; kindness wins in the end. Be kind to others and others will be kind to you. And if there's anyone who has issues about some homeless man befriending a, I'm gonna say, 9 year old girl, just remember that some children have friends of many age groups. Having adult friends is not a bad thing. Just use good common sense.
