You can want what you want, but unless you apply in August to get accepted early, or are an honors student, you're extremely unlikely to get into Core/Holmes. Those are the first rooms to go. Douthit is newer & the rooms nicer, but unless you're in the business school it can be a long walk to classes, which sucks when the weather is bad or it's really hot. Also the dining hall has limited hours/menu which gets old, fast. Imagine wanting to eat on a weekend but the dining hall is closed & you have to haul your ass to Schilleter. The highrises are ok, views are phenomenal, but that communal living can suck if you have a problem with the people you live with. The bookcases are built in, so you can't rearrange the room. 4-10 flights is a LONG way to walk in a fire drill, or if you miss the elevator & are running late. Mauldin is just old, and spillover of frats/sororities can go there which can suck if you're not Greek. It can also be loud there. People sh't on The Shoeboxes, but the location is great, especially for Death Valley, Little John & baseball. You also have a sink in your room, which is convenient if you just want to brush your teeth/wash your face; you don't have to go to the communal bathroom. Make sure to get into Benet, Cope or Geer, the windows are much larger & let more light in.
Emily Warchol you can only live on the hall as a sophomore! I only got on our hall because some girls studied abroad and some rooms opened up. But I’ll be doing a tour of my room in the sorority dorm next fall
Do you have any friends that were out of state that came to Clemson? if so did they get full ride or pay the tuition? Because I’m really still debating on paying the full tuition
I’m currently working on submitting my deposit for my freshman year college this year, but even with scholarships, I have to pay around 35k for out of state tuition.
this is so helpful! i’m deciding between holmes and douthit right now. does being kinda separated from the rest of campus have that big of an effect on the social scene? have you heard of people feeling “left out” if they live in douthit? it’s so nice but i don’t know if like how isolated it seems to be!
rebecca carlson yay I’m glad! And I don’t think so! It’s really not that far as it seems on the map. Plus a lot of people end up living in douthit so you wouldn’t be left out! Having friends in different dorms/ different sides of campus isn’t that bad since clemson has a walkable campus. Getting on the opposite side of campus takes like 10-15 tops
How early was your application submitted for you to get into holmes? Especially since housing is based on when the app is submitted. I just want to know my chances of getting the dorms i want lol
Morgan Hood I actually submitting my application later than my roommate and still got an earlier time slot to choose holmes than she did! I applied in November
Yeah all the dorms have something good about them and at the end of the day none of them are absolutely terrible! This was just my ranking of them from most favorite to least favorite! If u ended up with the shoeboxes it wouldn’t be the end of the world but most people Choose the other dorms first
Anna's Life I mean this is my personal preference so you might like them more than me!! And there are good things that come out of every dorm so I’m sure it’ll be ok :) My friends that stayed in the shoeboxes had a love hate relationship with it 😂
I’m really excited about living in the shoeboxes in the fall! If you get the heebee jeebies while living there just hit me up and we could go get donuts or something! 😋
I’m hoping to live in Gressette next year and was wondering if you knew which rooms had the best view of the stadium?? I applied August 1st so I’m hoping for a good time slot
okay the housing application is so confusing, what is a roommate group? and how do i make one? if i’m planning on living in manning do i still need one? THANK YOU!!
Abigail Anthis You can make Roommate groups of 4 people if you’re living in a suite, or groups of just 2 people if you’re living in a regular dorm. If you know who your roommate is going to be add them to your roommate group by searching up their username. Here’s a link that hopefully helps too! housing.clemson.edu/roommates/
Hi there ! Myself Nikunj and I will be there as a doctorate student by fall 23. I want to get information and useful links for housing. Moreover, it will be also great for me if you could give me different types of suggestions to get the 360° success during my coursework. Have a great day.
