I can beat you by a year, 66 now and I can tell you it’s not relaxing for me, stresses me out when it’s above 60ft, also just had my first incident flying into a tree, stuck 40ft up, rescued it with double extension ladder and very long stick. Need more practice I think, and just ordered a bigger stick 😂
Really appreciate your “low ego” pragmatic approach to your videos. There is so much hype and ego centric BS with “experienced” drone pilots. Keep up the good work Sir. Thank you!
Hey Mattheww. I'm a new drone owner (dji Mini 2) and consider myself to be at the enthusiast end of the spectrum. However, I am technically inclined and like your presentations on the 'craft' of drone operations. I find you to be well prepared and have a sincere respect for the medium as well as the environment and the laws concerning how to interact within them. This is just a shout out to say I'm a huge fan of your channel and the content you put out. Wishing you all the best and continued success. I've learned quite a lot from you and hope you continue being true to yourself... and your fan base. Kind regards! (Jinral)
I've been flying rc planes/cars/boats since childhood and have had several non-gps toy grae drones over the years before getting a Mini 2 in June 2021. I don't think anything so far (54y/o) has been as much fun as the Mini 2! These are all great tips for getting started and good to review even several months into it! I've still got a long way to go on adjusting camera settings mid-flight and even more to go on post-processing but it really is a great life-long hobby and now we can readily share all kinds of photos/videos that we capture along the way!
My experience with people has been, the older people, like me, don’t want anything to do with it, usually. The younger people, usually, 20’s-30’s, usually don’t have a problem with it and a lot of time want to get into the shot especially, if they think it’s going online and they have a cool bike or, 4 wheeler, etc. it’s a never ending, learning experience, I’ve found so far… it’s been six months and I’ve already lost one drone. I’m sure glad I bought that DJI insurance. I don’t ever fly until it says it’s got GPS signal. Awesome Video, Great Info…✌️😎
Just bought a Mini 2 ,After using a cheapie ,been looking at your tutorials ,and very impressed with the helpful info you give ,well put over mate ,look forward to more
Thank you for posting this. I've ordered a mini 2, and doing my prep work, so I can fly safely and within the law. Great advice on starting slow and simply.
Always keep your drone moving forward as if your in the seat of the cameras pointed direction 750 miles + with my mm2 with no end in site. Buy care refresh with your DJI fly more package. When my first mini was purchased I messed around and the camera gamble broke and what was beautifully steady had ended. When the mini 2 was released pre- birthday & Christmas season I upgraded with coverage. Having 6 batteries is so kewl and occusync 2 is superior to the mini 1s signal. The reason it does twice the distance of the mm1. Once you can fly in most types of conditions and can converse with people in general while in flight you too can fly 700 miles in your year of ownership, like me, yah hoo!
I’m looking at this drone as my first buy. I’m a street photographer as my hobby but I really want to get into this as a new hobby. Landscape must be a great style for these vehicles. I didn’t know what to do with it at first. But found a great site to get me started. Thank you for a great tutorial. Appreciated.

I recommend getting some sunglasses, it does make it harder to see your screen but way easier to keep track of your drone in the sky which is way more important
If you can give me an answer...I have been flying for quite a few years and several drones. Now I have a mini 2 and ran into a problem I've never ran into before. I was in a totally unrestricted zone. But my drone would only fly so far. I double checked the distance and it was set over 3000 feet but only seemed to go far less and say maximum distance reached. It was way short of the 3000 feet. Did I miss a different setting?
Hi Mattheww!!! My first flight with the mini 2 was in June 2021. Since then I have a total of 4 hours of flight and always when it landed, I immediately watched the video that had been downloaded to my android mobile. Now for some reason there is no video in the "my collection" folder or in any other folder, but only in sd card and in dji app. Do you have any idea what's going wrong? Is there any spesific setting in dji app? Thanks in advance and greetings from strong windy Athens, Greece. Keep up your fantastic job!!!!! 😊
Another Great video! Once I started to plan ahead for the location and the types of shots I wanted to get was when I started to notice my Drone shots really improve. Took me a couple months of flying to really get to that point of planning ahead.
Hello Mattheww - I bought a Mini 2 - When it arrived I read the online manual, and it did say that the controller is factory linked to the drone. As I eventually, arrived at the point where I fired it up for the first time... Nothing happened when I tried to start the motors. I even tried it with ONLY the controller and drone in the system (no phone) - still nothing when I pulled the thumbsticks back to the corners simultaneously. So I went to RUclips and and found a video showing how to link one to the other. Pressing both top buttons and the camera picture button simultaneously, The drone started to flash fast, I thought that was it, then went to the next stage and long pressed the drone control switch until it bleeped twice, it did. But then I tried to start the motors again ....nothing happened. Believing that one or the other things were faulty, I have now sent it back to the seller. Can you tell me please how would you "link" controller to drone? Thank you, your videos are the tops, very informative. Happy New Year!!
Would you recommend, in the first month when you're trying to figure out manoeuvres and control, practising without looking at the screen and just trying to work by looking at the drone itself?
Absolutely. You should be doing that as much as possible anyway. That's what they mean when they say that you are required to maintain visual line of sight at all times with the drone. You have to always visually see the drone. You should only be looking at the screen for videos and photos. And when you're just starting out, your goal should be practicing your basic maneuvers of your drone, rather than relying on your screen.
hello some advice I wanted I would like to see the mini 2 to take a mavic pro 1 despite the pro 1 and older there are many differences between 2 apart from the weight and size?
I have done footage up at Portstewart and Benone. I do more in Belfast and surrounding area. I have some footage on my own channel. Donegal is next on the list due to the cool ocean view
Note: there is several difference between the cine mode in the normal mode and it makes a little difference except that in my experience the normal mode gives you better control in tight spaces. You must keep in mind that there are dead spots in the sticks. What DJ I should’ve done was create a “tripod mode“ which reduced the speed to 2.5 mph just like the Mavic 2.
my first drone was a phantom 2 dji it no longer works I also have a mini 2 and mavic pro I realy enjoy them but don't get out much because of the weather is crappy .
DJI could do with adding a REALLY bright strobe in to their drones by default, the Firehouse Arc V is an amazing example but is just slightly too heavy for the Mini 2
16. While recording video do not forget to stop recording, if you land and power down while recording that video recording file will not be viewable. Put the SD card back into the drone and power on the drone, wait 30 seconds, power down and try viewing the file. Note: On the Mavic 2 and other DJI drones it saves the file before shutting down.
I started flying drones at 65, and I love it. Very relaxing.
I start at 64. Like you it’s very relaxing to me.

Thanks for your kind feedback! Yeah, planning shots really improves productivity when out flying! That’s what made a huge difference to my shots.
The uav app has mph not metres per second, what should I put the threshold as?
These videos have been a godsend as a newbie thankyou!
If you tap the wind speed, you can change the units to m/s at the bottom. Thanks for your kind feedback.
is it advisable to fly my drone on top of the building? (rooftop building)
Great tips I recently got a hard case to protect it better due to the fact that the bag provides very little protection.
What hard case did you go for? Thanks for watching!
@@TheDroneCreative LEKUFEE is the hard case brand I went for
Hard cases work I’ve dropped my drone on hill concrete driveway glad I got my nanuk 925 air2 s army out
Enjoying your video and would love to purchase one of these... but I have an android phone... What phone is required to fly these drones?
The mini 2 will work with an android.
I use mine with a
Samsung 8.

Matt great content and tips for new starters.
Do you cover much of NI with footage captured?
Thank you - appreciate the kind feedback. Mainly the North Coast area, Donegal also makes for a great day trip with the drone. How about you?
I have done footage up at Portstewart and Benone.

Great review. 👍😍👍
Great job . I’m considering getting a drone. Where are the county specific rules you were referring to ?
Thanks!!
Please do DJI mini 2 have also course lock mode on the app?
Hi, can you please make a video " best camera, gimbal settings " ?
Power lines are indeed hard to see. In fact, my first crash I flew straight into a water tower
Hit myself in the face (cut/bleeding), and then stuck in a tree for a few months. Back to basics finally
Hey man i stilldont kmow how to check what gps elev mask is on my drone can you gelp iut thanks
Do i need to update my firmware Couse i hear a lot of issues about the firmware update on mini 2
1:00 - You have no idea how many times during my first few flights I panicked and went straight down instead of backwards...
No one buys a 6 mile drone to keep it in line of sight 🤙
Note: there is several difference between the cine mode in the normal mode and it makes a little difference except that in my experience the normal mode gives you better control in tight spaces. You must keep in mind that there are dead spots in the sticks. What DJ I should’ve done was create a “tripod mode“ which reduced the speed to 2.5 mph just like the Mavic 2.
I thought they added the ability to adjust the sticks, they did for normal and sport but not CINE....
You can adjust the settings for every mode individually
How many minutes can dji mini 2 fly
The Mini 2 is the premier sub 250g drone 🚁
my first drone was a phantom 2 dji it no longer works I also have a mini 2 and mavic pro I realy enjoy them
but don't get out much because of the weather is crappy .
How does the drone know its firmware is up to date if its not online?
It will tell you regardless I would imagine if the firmware isn't up to date and you need to update it.
DJI could do with adding a REALLY bright strobe in to their drones by default, the Firehouse Arc V is an amazing example but is just slightly too heavy for the Mini 2
What good would a strobe do if you are still required to maintain a visual line of sight with the drone at all times? It's just common sense.
it would help others see it, like other aircraft, common sense..@@jordanking7711
No offence intended and I do apologise, but isn't that just common sense?
this drone relates altitude from the controller. not real altitude from the actual ground witch makes mountain flying difficult
why can't I record sound with the mini 2 and the mavic pro ?
I don’t think any drones have sound recording capability as all you would hear is the noise of the propellers.
Add a go2 camera if you want prop sounds if done it a couple times air2 s army out
how do i flap this done
What means that?? Lol
Welcome new pilots! What drone did you get?
i am wary of someone spotting me and objecting to the drone and " being on film" etc
Is that a Lewitt Microphone?
Хороший у вас канал о мини 2 жаль что не на русском
who is here after theyre first flight
jesus your scottish accent is strong like a dram lol
It must be kept in line of sight? What sort of nancyboy law is that?
Nice tips! Love it ❤️
