To correct myself here: My apologies. I found that the ESV renders John 1:18 this way. I still believe that it’s a poor rendering of John 1:18. No other verses render it that way. The Gideon Bible also from what I could find, doesn’t site which translation it uses. I also couldn’t find any doctrinal stances on the Gideon Bible website.
