Problem is when Nicki came in the game major record labels wanted her to sign a 360 deal like the main female rappers of the past signed (Lil kim, Lauryn, Missy, Foxy etc.) She didn’t take it and instead proved her way organically with mixtapes, live performances and building her fanbase, thus giving her more leverage for a better deal. Now, because she owns a high percentage of her profits the Industry can’t control her so they want to ruin and replace her with another female that they can profit off of and control. It's a sleazy business tactic
if she owned a high percentage of her profits, she wouldn’t need to do all these PR stunts… got billboard changing their rules and all that

She never got to clear up remy ma’s lies and it made her look slightly weak. She’s a great lyricist and could have easily responded with a hard diss track in response.

And also, she used Remy’s crime against her (“what type of bum b**ch shoot a friend over a rack? What type of mother leave her one son over a stack?”) And she did clear Remy’s lies, saying “I never signed a 360, b**ch, you wild dumb”. I think too many people only do the comparison to undermine Nicki’s run and success. I say that because people are quick to say “Cardi did this and that” and talk numbers and accolades with one album which may not all be authentic?? I think the main reason people DON'T want to give Nicki her flowers is because neither her nor the Barbz allow people to like anyone other than Nicki. It's like, yeah, she is great, but can anyone else be great??? And if an artist doesn't kiss her ass 24/7 then no collab, hater, beef, etc. People act like because Nicki did what she did there is female rappers who existed before, during, or after her. Hence the "hate train".

glad you did actual research on her and her career and spoke from an unbiased pov. i hope she inspires young boys and girls to believe in themselves because a lot of these aspiring musicians sign any contract that shoved in their faces. i also hope boys can go out their comfort zone and use her as a role model when it comes to industry practices. she is the blueprint for everybody in the industry rather that be a pop musician or a rapper. shes done it all and she does it well and doesn't sell her soul.

I think something people fail to realize is that Nicki was probably waiting for a time when she felt personally that she was established. Cause Remy put it best during an interview where she stated," I can see why she didn't fool with some of these girls." She's in a new era where she now feels comfortable enough to mentor and give back. The best way to sum up the reason why half these girls never got that helping hand. It's because half of them wanted to be Nicky, not to be taught by her and mentored. And for me, that sounds like their problem.
I agree with Remy almost all of them don't have their own style at least with Cardi she has her humor and personality to differentiate her alongside how different her sound is
As someone who used to believe in helping other women in my industry, I've been burned by the same women and learned its better to focus on your own success. I wholeheartedly agree with Nicki for not falling into the trap, she owes fellow female rappers absolutely nothing IMO

I remember hearing Nicki for the first time & I can say I’ve never really been anything but impressed at the way she carries herself over tracks. Some may not be “my style” or “vibe” but I can’t & never will deny her talent & the lame she’s created in HipHop/Rap. I’m stoked I got to watch her come up & hearing she was 26 when she got signed gives me a lot of inspiration. (I’m 26) haha

The last time hip hop had a strong, deep, diverse collection of female artist was late 90s to 2007. Since then the space shrunk because the artist began to look and sound alike. Nikki took from the foundation and carved a lane that female rappers can’t fill. Her reaching back would’ve hindered her more than help due to the cycle of hip hop she came up in. She does deserve a Grammy fo sho. Not a fan and never bought an album but I respect what she has accomplished.

I think this also speaks to the black female musician as a whole. Before Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday” I believe the last female rap album by a major label was Missy Elliott’s “The Cookbook” (2005). That’s a 5 year gap in between a major label putting money behind a black female rapper which hadn’t been the case since Foxy & Kim. No matter who you feel was at fault, Nicki revitalized a dying genre and has unfortunately had to endure labels trying to pillage from the aesthetic & sound she brought to the forefront.
I don’t think any female rapper can outwork her though. & only a select few men have been able to.

I love this video it’s just one thing I feel you didn’t mention. Nicki worked with both Cardi & Megan when they was coming up in the industry. We can’t erase that fact. That definitely contributed to both their success in the main stream. So that criticism of her not helping or sharing her platform to new female rapper isn’t true.

She's a pioneer and risk taker. When you blaze trails you're bound to shock people who just got used to all the cookie cutter artists making bank by not standing out. When you start getting attention for being daring and different, then everyone tries to copy you and beat you at the game you started. but the thing is while nicki was getting to the top, she still showed love and support towards other women. there’s many videos of nicki talking about collobs with females she wanted, shouting out different females, but it wasn’t until she was big big everyone wanted a piece of her. she’s said how collabs rejected her and she still respected them, unlike the girls of today who want a hand out. there’s not much nicki could’ve even done back then if she was still trying to make room for herself. by the time she got successful, the industry didn’t like how she controlled her own music, they wanted the money and her rights and she wasn’t going for it, so they got all the other female artists against her. who would anyone be open after seeing everyone folded on you? remy ma was in jail getting shoutouts and hope from nicki minaj. remy ma herself said when she got out the industry got in her ear and she switched on nicki. In a recent interview remy mentioned how the shether record wasn’t a good idea on her part. I don’t think nicki wanted to do it alone but who could she trust? even now, shes helps a few but not everyone because she doesn’t know who the trust and doesn’t want to be used like anyone else wouldn’t.

This music industry is not what you think. There are a lot of smoke and mirrors and artists you think are hot and performing are not. Labels use streaming farms and other means to create that impression while intending to recoup later on. The problem is a lot of the labels have not got that money back, thats why they are in debt and why people getting fired.

I’m not even a Nicki Minaj fan, but my God, her talent is undeniable. Her pen and flow is unmatched, she’s one of the few female rappers that I openly bump, she’s shown she can outrap some of these niggas. About her mistreatment, all these other rap girlies are just jealous that she stood her ground and made her way to the top without selling her soul (in a way), she grinded all the way up without any “connections” or nepotism.

Guys if yall did listen to Nicki's speech and lines in the song then yall will understand why she didn't collaborate with lot of females than males. She considered herself as the best from other females so she also rather feature a male in the song and she will stand out cause she was fighting for the girls to be recognised through her. It is not wrong to be compared to your Idol, the thing is Nicki did not have reality show to boost her songs and albums. Nicki Minaj create her platforms such as Myspace and Twitter account to interact with her fans and promote her songs. Nicki Minaj had people who had power but she didn't use that to her advantage, she wanted to do things her own way so that she can be recognised as the best female artist to ever do it. Nicki don't have ghost writers but she is the ghost writer to male artists, and that makes her the Queen. She did everything to protect her and female rappers to be where they are now. The only thing that Nicki Minaj wanted was for Female Rappito be respected as artists as you guys respect the male artists, She wanted female to write for themselves that why in some of her songs she praise her pen. Hate is a very powerful thing you can get people to hate on someone easily. So the fact that people will hate one person drive them to support this other person if they’re trying to replace her with, that’s why Cardi B has a success along with the fact that the label was putting mega bucks And payola to push her to end in Nicki Minaj.
