I identify as vegan, haven't eaten any animal products in 2 years, but I still wear leather backpack daily that was bought as a gift for me years ago cause I'm too broke to just throw away a perfectly good quality backpack and buy a new one lol. The way I see it is the damage was already done and it would be wasteful to throw it away so I may aswell use it till its no good. Vegans discriminating other vegans for not being "perfect" despite them doing the absolute best they can, aren't helping the movement in my opinion.
Good point, the key is to not pay money towards animal products once you are vegan. If you've already got a leather backpack why would you bin it. Agreed
Cheekiest Clan What if you got leather from a thrift store? The person actually getting the leather and making things wouldn’t make the money (therefore wouldn’t be encouraged to make more things with leather) and you still get a good quality backpack, shoes, etc.
And what's more, as you said, you didn't by the backpack; you got it as a gift. So, at the very least, you're not *financially* supporting companies that haven't embraced vegan-friendly approaches to manufacturing their products, so I also don't personally see the issue with you holding onto it.
Agreed! I’ve been vegan for the same amount of time and I have a purse that is 100% genuine leather, that was gifted to me from a relative who has since passed away. I carry it occasionally (I don’t often carry a purse at all) and would never throw it away. The animal already gave it’s life and I don’t believe it would be honoring it to destroy it rather than utilizing it and it’s sacrifice, just because I have since become vegan after owning it.
@@Samuelwastaken but if you live in a place where vegetables and fruit don’t grow then I t has to be shipped in and that can get expensive and some might not be able to afford that.
@@SarahAnnJohnson Most of the time it's even cheaper than the home grown version. For example, look at bananas or even oranges. They are relatively cheap, even cheaper than an apple and only grow at tropical climates
as a vegan, when elizabeth was talking about personal experiences of spending time in a food desert, the way richard kept trying to invalidate her experience was annoying to me. he wasn’t listening to anyone, he was just waiting for his turn to talk. she was clearly only speaking on things she was educated on, and instead of hearing her point of view, he just shut her out and implied that she wasn’t being truthful. he talked about “abusing our own ignorance”, and yet, abuses his own when it comes to anything he didn’t agree with lol.
Well, sure, it would be annoying, but she was actually incorrect and not educated. It is absolutely no problem to sustain a vegan diet in Iceland (I live there).
She talked about specifically villages where access to fruits and vegetables is harder. The climate doesn't allow for it. I agree. I felt like he was wrong for that
As a vegan I agree he was extremely rude and ignorant when she was speaking but I feel like she was far off about what she was saying. There’s no way those people had 0% fruits and veggies in their diet or they would have major health concerns all around. I live in an area some people might consider a food desert (which of corse I will not disclose) but the when I go in the little bitty gas station / food mart the one section they do have have is the produce. And some people don’t have it as bad as me I understand that but I think she was a bit off in saying that. Again that doesn’t make how he approached her correct.
Also Nikki and Tyra coming in with the true veganism. How can you be a true vegan against the mistreatment and exploitation of animals but not care about your fellow man?
@@casanova842 I don't remember which episode of Jubilee it was when one guy said he'd shoot a lion if it were going to eat a human child and everyone was like "But the lion has a right to live too!" I do think hunting for pleasure is twisted but when it comes to a human life vs animal life, the choice is pretty clear there, no matter what your attachment to the animal is, no matter how endangered it is. Human life always comes first, especially a baby's life because you don't know what he/ she might grow up to achieve.
richard is yet another example of the textbook “holier than thou” vegan. ignorant, extremely privileged, narrow minded, and shaming anyone who isn’t vegan, regardless of the circumstance. and they wonder why there’s such a bad stigma around veganism... thank you to elizabeth trying to show him a different perspective than his very narrow one.
It's possible to be vegan in those climates though. I know icelandic vegans lmao. I think it was necessary to make clear the distinction between those on susteinance diets who don't have access to more foods, and those who can go vegan but refuse to.
BANANAS ARE ACTUALLY GROWN ON ICELAND! Google "Banana production in Iceland". They stopped because the government removed import duties. That research took me literally 5 seconds.
"I spent three months in near the artic where you literally wouldnt be able to sustain yourself on a vegan diet?" "So they dont have any fruits or vegetables out there at all?" ......Boy you are out of your mind
Agreed, fruits like banana and apple are amazing snacks and side meal for breakfast but you can't live off them, since you can't live off bananas. Its a great way to start a morning but it isn't a meal.
Lily Dawn they have this other show on their channel called odd man out and basically they had vegans on the show and they had to guess who wasn’t the vegan. A vegan name Erin was incredibly annoying and would try to discredit everyone by saying stuff like “that’s not vegan”
Funny thing is, my food allergies dictate everything. One of the things I cannot eat is a yellow banana. I can only eat green bananas. Otherwise I get sick lol.

brandon was LITERALLY quoting erin on that one episode where she dragged him down bc he didn’t know that some candies weren’t vegan lmaoooo i love his sarcasm
I’m had a conversation similar trying to explain how in some areas it is just not sustainable and it drove me crazy I wanted to just scream they were already starving if they cut meat out of their diet they would die .some people are ignorant of the world around them I mean there’s a reason people evolved into being omnivores and people don’t shame animals from their diet .. there are many ways to be vegan and live ethically but thinking every environment in world is sustainable for strick veganism is vary ignorant.
@@minwellitsanicknamebegrate2531 IMO you should cut down meat consumption or eliminate it. But yeah in some places it's not possible at the moment. And they don't hunt that much anyway, climate change is what's endangering those species.
If she wanted to explain veganism to me I would stop and listen as she seems to be a person who will not outwardly judge you if you aren't vegan. The blonde guy seems more like a radical vegan and I think I would feel quite intimidated and probably avoid him. He doesn't seem very approachable.
Just gave the two thousandth like! This is very true. I feel like she actually formed her opinions based on facts and AFTER she explored the world around her.
Im so glad that girl mentioned food deserts, some people don’t have access to fresh fruits and vegetables. Some people have to travel 50 busses in order to get fresh produce. 6:00
The minority of people in the world live in food deserts. There are no factory farms. So who cares if they are vegan. There are not the problem. Lets stop finding excuses.
Dino Jäger some people have EASIER ACCESS to fresh produce where others are surrounded by convenience stores and markets that don’t specialize in selling fresh fruits and vegetables or veggie alternatives. But nice try.
There’s people that have never had a vegetable or fruit in their in life, because they’re parents never bought it. If you think about low-income households that are in food deserts, which is usually the case in the U.S., it becomes difficult for someone who works all day to go get produce. The resource near them/most convenient is all processed food.
Also, the most affordable products are usually the most unhealthy products. I tried to cut out dairy from my diet, it was difficult mostly because of my budget. Substitutions that are plant-based cost more money than the dairy products, usually.
Worked for me, I was called a hippocrite for hating China for eating dog meat yet eating bacon and steak. We need to normalise changing mindsets upon learning new information.

100% agree. Shame doesn't breed healthy growth. Richard is truly living a lifestyle that is a privilege but doesn’t understand that it may not be accessible, affordable or sustainable for other people and that doesn’t make them bad people. The amount of privilege is astounding. He can’t even comprehend other people’s struggles or lifestyles. Also. Dont come for me. Im a vegan as well. Just damn man.
He irritated me from the first question. He's the reason people hate vegans. It's not the only option, and just because it's what he believes is right and easy, doesn't mean it is. It's the most ridiculously privileged "one size fits all" attitude
While is definitely a privilege to be able to choose what you eat, people use this argument where it doesn't even apply. Like they were talking about Iceland and how they couldn't live vegan, but there are plenty of Icelandic vegans. People tend to say not everyone can be vegan so I don't have to, but that makes no sense
@@rabbitholeryn "He is the reason people hate vegans." Apply this logic to other situations like "a black person did something I dislike so therefore I am racist"
I agree Iceland probably would be a bit of an exception but developing places such as Africa, most of their staple foods are vegan, grains, beans, ect. Because they are so cheap.
@Turbo_Turlet cant speak for all countries; but there are many fresh fruits in South America that are not safe to eat. Even the water is not safe. Many get lucky & there are many who don't. If you're going to a small village(who doesn't have food imported) they will not always have vegan options. It's not about excuses. It's reality.
@Turbo_Turlet But you cannot survive solely on highly expensive imports. They aren't *just* eating meat and animal products/biproducts in those areas, but it is a part of their diet due to necessity.
I've lived in Iceland as well, last year, and it is safe to say that there absolutely are vegan options. HOWEVER, the price range is insane and the different between meat and vegetables is insane. You can't grow anything on Iceland, exept in the greenhouses. Also the icelandic (and eg. Greenlandic) culture about meats and food is very different from what the people in the video are used to ;-)
That shouldn’t have effected her standing on that . No vegan lives in the Arctic circle lmao . She’s like when if your in a remote village then that’s fine . This is about your normal average everyday vegan . Most of these people were coming up with outrageous excuses .
Small villages with no food are not most of society thats a straw-man argument. If someone lived in a small village in the middle of no where then how would they even have access to phones or computers to watch this video? Most of society isn’t living like that. I’m a broke immigrant and i’m vegan.
@Abel Abel Anyone claiming to be vegan is just a virtue signaling liar. Ever stop to think people would stop making fun of liars if they stopped lying?
When he said meatless Monday’s don’t count.... people are atleast trying, not eating meat or animal products for a whole day helps the environment A LOT
Right?? My brothers and my entire family eat meat and consume dairy multiple times a day, we were raised on animal products and it’s apart of our Nigerian culture. There’s no way we could all go cold turkey to veganism, just like anything else, it takes a slow and steady adjustment to make it work
As a vegan who started out as a flexitarian, who ate meat like once every 2 weeks I can confirm that taking it steady is the right way to test out the waters (and you'll get used to it better!), but eating meat 6 times a week is still way too much, unnecessary and super lazy, regardless of your culture if you live in a first world country. That's my opinion tl;dr Your culture doesn't matter if you live in a westernized country, you're just looking for an excuse to eat meat. Anyone can go vegan/vegetarian.
Thank you. Like I as someone raised in a family where dinner was not dinner without meat, am trying to drop meat from my meals a few nights a week and am being very selective as to where the meat I buy comes from. Decreasing demand on a product even if it's small dose create a need for the farms to shrink their output to balance profit.
It bugs me when vegans are so offended by those doing “meatless Monday” or other variations of incorporating more plant based meals. Even just making the decision to be plant based for 50-75% of your meals can make a huge impact on your carbon footprint and other positive factors. Discouraging people trying to do better isn’t productive.
I'm vegan and I think meatless Monday's and any kind of reduction in meat or dairy consumption is amazing!! I think most vegans feel the need to convert people to veganism but I don't as I know veganism isn't for everyone and it's just completely unrealistic to think the whole world is going to go vegan. I instead focus more on how meat eaters can cut down by having one meat free day a week and still make a huge difference. Doing things like meatless mondays or choosing dairy alternatives are great. I see this as something way more achievable than trying to force people to go vegan and the result for the animals and the environment are great. 😊

@@GradenVeEvel I hear you. Environment plays a big part in what products I buy (food, personal care products, etc.), but I'm definitely guilty of using delivery services and online shopping. I can't often afford to choose the more environmentally conscious option, but I'm making an effort to do that more often. I was vegan for 3 years. I used to live about 100 miles from the Arctic Circle. We had regular grocery stores, so it was easy to find vegan foods. Looking at the produce and plant-based meat alternatives and thinking of how far they had to travel to get there (and how much the prices were marked up as a result!), I found myself supplementing my diet with locally raised meat and eggs from a local butcher and friends. I also got a fishing license and a chest freezer and filled it up during fishing season. I think those were much better choices for my wallet, the environment, and the local economy at the time. Now that I'm back in a location where eating a plant-based diet is financially and environmentally reasonable, I find myself taking more and more animal products out of my diet. But the negative connotation of the word "vegan" has gotten so bad in the years since I called myself that, I doubt I'll ever label myself that way again.

You'd be surprised how many times you have to tell people what veganism is actually about. I pretty much have it memorized too purely because of how often I have to repeat it to people that don't understand veganism and think it's something that it's not.
I'm glad Elizabeth (the woman in the jean jacket) spoke about Perspectives according to other countries. While I was an exchange student in Japan, one of my friends who is Vegan struggled to find foods in some resturaunts when we decided to go out. Even when it came to some boba and coffee shops. Some of the 'vegan' options still had broth or animal products rather than plant based. People around the world have different 'vegan' or 'vegetarian' options. India would be safer option compared to America when it comes to these. I'm surprised within the first question they never mentioned Hinduism sects and other religion/faith that have vegan diets.
Then you do your best to eat as little as is possible... saying "fvck it, its not possible to be completely vegan, so I might as well just eat this steak" is the actions of someone purposely being disingenuous . Plus meat is a luxury and costs FAR more than nonmeat foods FACTUALLY.. so its kind of ridiculous to continue on the debate path of third world country this, privilege that, etc
I appreciated Elizabeth's empathetic mindset and her understanding of the role privilege and circumstance can play in a person's ability to be vegan. Everyone else had a really interesting, valuable perspective too. Thanks for this!
I feel like I especially respect & admire Nikki & Elizabeth, them talking about their personal experiences, as well as being realistic about it. How you can’t always be vegan in certain circumstances & that’s okay or how it’s best to lead by example, it’s very important
Nobody is perfect, accidents happen, you can have non accommodating friends and watch them eat meat without you having taken part in that animal’s suffering BUT making any conscious decision to consume animal products is not vegan. I know vegans who buy vegan cars only, they’re not better humans than others but the options are out there... I mean you don’t need to have a bike, you don’t need those sneakers that are in, you don’t need a leather wallet. I think only medical exceptions are valid...
@@DM-1111 Certainly not everyone can afford a car- a bike is the best option of transport for many many people. It's people like you that are the reason meat eaters think vegans are crazy extremists. Not everything has to be 100% or nothing.

You take immediate offense by what I’m saying without considering there are alternatives. You could probably buy a bike second hand without directly benefiting the bike leather seat industry lol you can buy an old car that is already vegan. Did you know some Subaru’s are leather free and this vegan? Most cars are almost accidentally vegan with the exception of the leather around the stick shift. Someone who is passionate about veganism will go the extra mile to find out where their money is going. You don’t need to get offended by this.
Yeah, hopefully they all remember that they weren't vegan at some point (I'm assuming) so if you're too pushy or judgy about others, you're not helping them become vegan, if you want them to be.

Richard: "We have to research our choices and can't be willfully ignorant" Richard 5min before: "Are you saying bananas don't grow in the arctic circle?"
the reality is that veganism is actually a privilege. That's why it's seen mostly in North america and not as much other places where there is genuinely a lack of resources. Some people are lucky to just get any food at all! I doubt they're paying attention to where it comes from. I get to be vegetarian because I live in Canada! but he doesn't get that it's not always that simple
GIRL IN THE DENIM JACKET let me tell you now. I love you, just because for once someone shares my point of view to not force someone to do something like that.
@Abel Abel one of my friends, her old friends pressured her into staying vegan else they would have abandoned her. She didn't have tons of friends back then and she didn't wanna lose them, they shamed her if they found out she had eaten just a small piece of meat. My friend became anorexic after that, so I guess, YAY ALL VEGANS ARE GOOD PEOPLE
@Abel Abel My friend has thankfully overcome that, but she has learned to love meat because of her culture, she loves cooking, and nope, not all vegans are good people, also being a vegan doesn't make you any better, I see nothing with eating animals except when it comes to extreme cases like them being kept im cages for all their lives
@Abel Abel also, just because of your ethical view does it justify you telling pwople they can't eat meat? There's nothing wrong with that except with the examples I gave earlier
My husband is from a Third World country and he says this all the time - it really bothers him actually having really suffered in poverty - he says that the problem with American veganism is that Americans most of them have never known actual poverty or hunger and so veganism has become an elite position only accessible to privileged Americans. If you live in a Third World country where all you have to eat is a chicken or you will die you aren’t going to be vegan. To be philosophical about your food is an incredibly privileged position to take and we should all acknowledge that privilege.
To some degree but that’s a terrible example to compare low income Americans to a Third World country unless they live in California then I understand.
India was a third world country and has highest percentage of vegetarians and vegans whereas are next door neighbor pakistan and China have almost 95 percent of non vegetarian population. So your point doesn't make sense. Humans diet depend a lot on religion, ethical issues, personal choices.
Your husband is just not educated , sorry to say, no offense... its MUCH cheaper to eat beans compared to meat. People just dont want to do that.. has LITERALLY nothing to do with ANY functional issues of money, priviledge, etc
also, richard is coming from a VERY privileged point of view. you can tell that he’s thinking from a very first world country perspective. this is what turns people off to veganism. im a vegan as well, and i feel like this is such an extremist way of thinking.
I'M 100% sure he's middle-upper class guy who can study and afford a lot of stuff. He acts likes eating meat or wearing leather or knowing about what items contains what is supposed to be common knowledge... He needs a reality check that not everyone are as well off as him. EX: 99% of people in third world countries.
I agree with you. It’s not hard to understand that in cold weather like Iceland, it’s nearly impossible to grow vegetables and fruits. It’s literally 3rd grade science. I also do not think there’s a “perfect vegan”. I am using a phone to type this out and in order to charge my phone, I am still using some type of fuel that is causing harm to our environment. He just can’t accept that. Every vegan tries their best to be ethical and environmentally friendly as possible.
I don't think he's that extreme, probably too strict in the arctic case. And I'm a vegan as well, I'm from a developing country. There's very little vegan products here, so it's a bit inconvenient. But when I accept the ethical arguments for veganism, then it logically follows that my inconveniences don't trump animal suffering in any way. There might be an exception for some people who truly can't afford a vegan diet. But in most cases, people just use these rare cases to justify their lifestyle when they themselves are not in those situations.
The fact is that most people in Western societies can make the switch to veganism. Obviously not every single person on the planet has the access to be vegan, but most do. Usually the people who can make the switch are the ones to talk about privilege. If you don't live in a food desert, then why not make the switch?
When Richard was talking about the whole “do they not have fruits or vegetables out there at all” they r in the Arctic circle. Not the tropics. Or a supermarket. If people need to sustain themselves off of animals it is totally natural. Animals eat other animals and that is nature. being vegan is great and I totally respect them. but not respecting non vegans is not.
He knew what it meant a, people just like to use that excuse. Nobody is gonna attack someone in a survival situation for not eating a certain way. That’s totally different. We’re saying, people who claim to be vegan( who tend to be people who have the freedom of choice to eat whatever they want) can’t call themselves vegan if they intentionally buy animal products despite not needing to. Those are the people that question is for, not someone starving in a 3rd world country.
As much as I loooooooove Elizabeth, I want to say that I really respect Shawn as he might have been the only person to change his mind and move based on someone else's explanation, and he did it twice.
People from Iceland who are like "I live here it's great to be vegan" well very good for you, doesn't mean it's the exact situation in all of Iceland... She mentioned a very specific example and I think it's important to acknowledge those exist. Do they have produce? Sure. Is it sustainable and nutritious to only eat those? Probably not. We don't know her specific situation so it's unfair to just invalidate it because you live in Iceland and are having a great time being vegan.
I’m so shook “is it for convenience?” They’re literally telling you it’s almost impossible for you to find vegetable and fruit to survive on cause some places don’t have that luxury
I think the difference needs to be set clearly though. When she was talking about Icelandic villages, seh was referring to very small villages where people live off substeinance foods which include animal products due to issues with accesibility. That has nothing to do with the rest of the country, where you can easily be vegan. Most people can go vegan actually, you don't need any weird fancy products to have a healthy vegan diet. And for those who can't, it's an issue of accessibility, so it really is not their fault that they can't go vegan. Hope this makes sense.
Jaleigh Bass yeah. He keeps going on and on about theoretical but Ignores the realities. It’s easy to focus on diet when you aren’t worried about general safety and survival. Not to mention veganism takes some research and trial and error. It’s not like you just start eating plants and everything goes smoothly.
monemori she brought it up because they were talking about visiting other countries. You may visit a place but you can’t find recourses for vegan food there.
@@monemori most vegan ingredients are expensive. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's most definitely not a myth that lower class people, even in America cannot afford fruit and plants on a daily basis. It's just a fact.
_"If you care about me as a person, how could you not change one meal."_ Just imagine how offended Richard would feel if one of his friends said that to him, yet, it's his expectation, or rather his *challenge,* to those around him. _My_ "challenge" to Richard is to live in a 20-person village in the Arctic for three months, with no greenhouse, to gain a better understanding of what "food desert" _really_ means. I'm assuming he'll jump at the chance to stop "...abusing [his] own ignorance."
Ikr, like yes Richard, fruits and vegetables grow in over abundance in the permafrost and the ice up in the arctic circle. Oh and they grow even better during the winter when the sun literally doesn’t come above the horizon for months at a time!
Jack K And you think someone can live their life on jelly and jam? No one is saying a fully meat based diet is the best for your health, but there really aren’t reasonable alternatives. Also, yes there are many vegan Alaskans, but there’s also a big difference between the most populated areas of Alaska, which are well developed cities where people have access to all the fruits and veggies they want, and small villages in the arctic circle, where it may be impossible to get those goods.
Tevin Lionel I think he forgot how plants work...obviously it can’t grow there if it isn’t a tree 🌲 that has the ability to grow out there. I know in certain cold climates you can eat pine nuts...but in other countries vegan or vegetarian diets aren’t sustainable.
@Jack K yeah there's flowering plants that are edible in the arctic circle, but if you think people living in the tundra are going to be able to sustain themselves on the ultimately meagre amount of local plants and the incredibly brief growing season, you're quite misguided. shopping isn't necessarily an option either. read about Food Security in Nunavut and you'll understand why. yeah vegans visiting have an alright time in the arctic, but what about the people who live there year round? i'm sure they aren't living on 10 dollar heads of lettuce and 20 dollar canteloupes. hunting for sustenance is integral to survival in canada and alaska's arctic. in order to survive anywhere that isn't a massive centre like anchorage you better hope to have deep pockets to survive on a vegan diet let alone an omnivorous one.
I love Elizabeth, she's super knowledgeable and if it is an option to be more environmentally friendly she will take it, and thats what veganism is also so much about, she knows her stuff!!! I like her :)
I like denim jacket girl. She doesn’t force her belief she wants to be a positive example EDIT: This is probably the most responses I’ve ever gotten to a comment on RUclips ever.
I get that but back when slavery was a thing we ended up forcing people to stop owning slaves. And I’d argue it was good that we forced people to stop. You shouldn’t get a choice if their is a victim involved who doesn’t get a choice. We don’t get the choice to murder or enslave humans do we? So we shouldn’t get the choice to murder animals for 2 minutes of taste pleasure. Where is the animals choice?
Adam Ayre I really wish people in our community stop spreading words like yours. Comparing eating meat to murder & slavery is exactly what pushes people away from veganism. “Let me introduce you to this great new lifestyle, but first I’ll tell you how disgusting your current one is.” Shame never works.
Allie P. You know comparing two different things doesn’t mean you are saying that they’re the same you know? And I’m sorry but it is the same, do the animals see it any different?
does richard know there are sustainable forms of farming? like he seems like the kinda guy that would tell native american tribes not to hunt buffalo 😂😂
Exactly! The food chain is a natural phenomenon in nature. Animals eat animals. I don’t think it’s bad to eat meat when it is killed in a humane and sustainable manner.
@@TheDaneyeledee How does that work when you have billions of people eating meat? Unless they cut way back on the amount of meat they are eating , billions of animals have to be raised and slaughtered as quickly and cheaply as possible to serve demand
I like Richard just as much as you do, but animal farming can’t be sustainable. Grassing animals may seem sustainable, but they are actually the most damaging to climate.
The girl in the jean jacket is so well spoken and educated to the actual reality of the world unlike the eyebrows guy who is an example of the worst kind of vegan - who sees everything through privileged eyes.

Chiara Morello And you seems to hate those humans to the point that you ignore the cultures that depend on animals to eat because of their harsh environment. Also, animals eat animals. At least we eat and help them.
@@shayla106 please do some extra research on the matter. Then if you want we can have a conversation with a sense, and not just like spiteful internet people. Even tho in this whole comment section no constructive discussion is being raised, rather just all hating on one single person like internet trolls.
Chiara Morello I’m not hating on anyone. I’m pointing out a very real reality in the vegan community. I absolutely support veganism and vegetarianism. In an ideal world everyone would be one or the other. But assuming everyone has the money, time, education to be vegan is destructive and counterproductive. In order to make veganism accessible to everyone we have to address real issues like food deserts, lack of education/resources, different cultures, factory farming which make it so the cheapest foods are animal based. Often times the only kind of foods low income families can afford. So if we want more people to be vegan we have to start with accessibility and smart solutions. Veganism for ALL, not just a select few. Veganism for animal rights, environmental, and health reasons. This kind of change doesn’t happen instantly.
6:36 I love how this girl is standing up for countries that don’t have the accessibility to be vegan. As an Icelandic person, it is quite difficult to be vegan, but we also don’t torture our livestock or waste any food/clothing product 🙃 (I know I might get some hate but that’s just me showing some appreciation for this girl)
hey cool that you are here to say hello :) I have also explained this to people when they ask things like "would you still be vegan if you lived in Siberia or Alaska or Kazakhstan...and I was like noooo that would be impossible. I would need that whale blubber to stay alive." And they were like soooo when you go there you'll stop being vegan and I was like "do I look like I'm headed to the Arctic?" (I love warm places LOL and lots of tropical plants to look at and eat.) And then they're like AHA I told you so! Not everyone can be vegan! and then I'm like uh actually you asked me if everyone can be vegan and I told you that they can't. Try to keep up. Then they're grumpy and like uh I just wanted to say "I told you so" and I'm like well you did so now lets talk about something else. I hope that vegans don't come to your country to bother you too much to try to change you. I think it would be nice for me to visit for a week or so but I'll be bringing all my own freeze dried vegan camping supplies and then going somewhere much warmer. I really cannot handle cold temperatures too well but I do like to explore. :) So maybe I'll go visit the super cold places for 1 week each. :) Mush with me on a sled dog team please :) Lets race each other. ;)
yea, she was definitely the most likeable in my opinion... she took in other viewpoints which was cool. Also, using all parts of the animal is rad. I'm not vegan, but, thinking environmentally, I think using all the parts of the animal, which in turn lets you avoid factory made products, is solid. Thoughhh not sure if theres enough livestock for everyone to sustain themselves on that type of living xP
Lemur Lover Yeah! You’ve also given me a new perspective on vegans as well. I know the media doesn’t show vegans in a good light, so it’s nice to see that most of it doesn’t apply to everyone through you and others in the video. I see how you see things on both sides and don’t force your veganism onto others
I'm from Venezuela, a country that is literally starving, it's difficult to afford/find food and medication...and this guy is here telling me I should eat "fruit and vegetables"

@@cheekiestclan5668 Amigo...your answer shows me you know absolutely nothing about Venezuela. I don't mean to be disrespectful, I just invite you to read. I will tell you that I haven't eaten an apple since 2015. We eat what we can find and out of the things we can find, we eat what we can afford.

a vegan diet does not equate to "privilege". In many countries where poverty is a major issue, for example India, the people live mostly vegan or vegetarian due to poverty. You're also forgetting that some of the cheapest foods in the world are plant-based. This includes beans, rice, legumes, fruits, vegetables. No one said you have to buy the expensive meat alternatives. Those exist mainly for people who are transitioning to a plant-based diet / lifestyle for convenience.
I was bullied since going vegetarian in 2014, and I hardly talked about it. People would put nuggets in my face and say all sorts of terrible things to me. Of course the words spoken to me were even more harsh after going full in vegan. People like you hate vegans and don't even think about how we feel

Agreed
Cheekiest Clan
What if you got leather from a thrift store?
The animal already gave it’s life and I don’t believe it would be honoring it to destroy it rather than utilizing it and it’s sacrifice, just because I have since become vegan after owning it.

as a vegan, when elizabeth was talking about personal experiences of spending time in a food desert, the way richard kept trying to invalidate her experience was annoying to me. he wasn’t listening to anyone, he was just waiting for his turn to talk. she was clearly only speaking on things she was educated on, and instead of hearing her point of view, he just shut her out and implied that she wasn’t being truthful. he talked about “abusing our own ignorance”, and yet, abuses his own when it comes to anything he didn’t agree with lol.
Amber Nichelle but he was right
Well, sure, it would be annoying, but she was actually incorrect and not educated.

When he said meatless Monday’s don’t count.... people are atleast trying, not eating meat or animal products for a whole day helps the environment A LOT
Arlin M EXACTLY
That's my opinion
tl;dr
Your culture doesn't matter if you live in a westernized country, you're just looking for an excuse to eat meat. Anyone can go vegan/vegetarian.
youre right but some people tend to then double the amount of meat they eat on the other days
Would you rather them not have those days at all then? Like wtf. Also why was someone comparing Meatless Mondays to homophobia
I knoww! I wish more places had meatless modays and stuff I dont even have meatless options at my school. This mans taking alot for granted.
I’m a vegan and I think that is amazing!! Experimenting with your diet is very exciting and I hope you have fun with it!!
It is not about carbon footprint though, veganism is about animal liberation. Way more than just a diet.

I don't know how it got this much worst, with all the International delivery shipping, everyone is just burning resource more and more, while bragging about saving earth.

Hindus dont have vegan diets lmao ! Milk products are literally staple in most indian diets fyi !!

Exactly i love how they are informing others about veganism in a non -condescending way
Nobody is perfect, accidents happen, you can have non accommodating friends and watch them eat meat without you having taken part in that animal’s suffering BUT making any conscious decision to consume animal products is not vegan.

GIRL IN THE DENIM JACKET let me tell you now. I love you, just because for once someone shares my point of view to not force someone to do something like that.
@Abel Abel i did, a lot
@Abel Abel one of my friends, her old friends pressured her into staying vegan else they would have abandoned her. She didn't have tons of friends back then and she didn't wanna lose them, they shamed her if they found out she had eaten just a small piece of meat. My friend became anorexic after that, so I guess, YAY ALL VEGANS ARE GOOD PEOPLE
Btw, she loved meat, it's a big part in the cooking culture of her country

Every vegan tries their best to be ethical and environmentally friendly as possible.
seriously, such a pretentious spoiled brat.

Alaskan cities and the artic circle are soooo different lmao

I really cannot handle cold temperatures too well but I do like to explore. :) So maybe I'll go visit the super cold places for 1 week each. :) Mush with me on a sled dog team please :) Lets race each other. ;)
same here! she really spoke out about both sides, which is something i find so amazing.
yea, she was definitely the most likeable in my opinion... she took in other viewpoints which was cool.
Ur right she spoke welll
I'm from Venezuela, a country that is literally starving, it's difficult to afford/find food and medication...and this guy is here telling me I should eat "fruit and vegetables"
So you will know that all the cheapest foods available are vegan? pasta, rice, veg, fruit, beans, legumes, nuts... and the most expensive foods are meats and dairy products? So why exactly is it more expensive?
@@cheekiestclan5668 Amigo...your answer shows me you know absolutely nothing about Venezuela. I don't mean to be disrespectful, I just invite you to read. I will tell you that I haven't eaten an apple since 2015. We eat what we can find and out of the things we can find, we eat what we can afford.
I have not rich vegan friends in venenzuela are vegan
Yeah... God be with you , i wish i could help with anything but it's also a big Global Issue in many countries... i hope everything is okay 😁... this dude is just Narrow Minded he pretty much thinks about himself Only & Blames himself.
@@cheekiestclan5668 I'm not well versed on the Venezuelan topic. But from what I watched, people were struggling just to get rice to eat. So maybe think a little outside of your bubble. Thanks
Richard definitely has not experienced or even had a understanding on why not everyone has the privilege of having a vegan diet 🙄
a vegan diet does not equate to "privilege".
Funny how the girl in the denim jacket that is the most accepting and relaxed hasn’t been bullied
I was bullied since going vegetarian in 2014, and I hardly talked about it. People would put nuggets in my face and say all sorts of terrible things to me. Of course the words spoken to me were even more harsh after going full in vegan. People like you hate vegans and don't even think about how we feel
@@jojobeanstudio1339 When you stop spewing vegan propaganda in their face, they will stop putting nuggets in your face. It's simple.
@@jojobeanstudio1339 I'm chill bro. If you wanna be you that's fine. It's your body so I can't tell you what to be or what to eat. Hope you have a great life!
I’m whole food plant based. I make an exception for holidays, but family and friends have been very accepting if I bring food when I stay at their houses. I don’t expect people to accommodate to my dietary needs. If we go out then you can usually substitute or remove.
And funny how the two who are the most militant/obnoxious about it are the ones who are bullied. 🤔
“ There’s not a banana, or an apple, or a _bean_ “ oml 😂
Lwemon ikr
Right? The dude kind of annoyed me... Maybe just me. The girl in the denim jacket was my favourite.
he's acting like you can survive on a BANANA
i think freelee the banana girl had a son
Yep, like he'll be able to survive on a diet of apples and bananas because they just have sooo much nutrition and protein for long term
Richard is one of those people who thinks people only don't like him because he's vegan or gay
right? like u're just annoying stfu
I'm your thousandth like😊
Freefall1357924 this right here !!!!!!
Idk if love at first sight is a thing but now I know dislike at first sight is a thing
And that means I learned something so in a way I'm thankful to him
Freefall1357924 all I know is I’m pulling out my cast iron skillet and a steak watching this.
I love Elizabeth because she is not having the gatekeeping and holding her ground despite any herd mentality.
RICHARD IS SO IRRITATING when this girl is talking about how some places literally DONT have an option to be vegan 24/7
He’s so out of touch.
Daisy Hart he was privileged as a child and it shows
That isn’t relevant to most of society that’s like saying other forms of exploitation are not as regulated elsewhere so let’s partake in that form of exploitation anyways. She was talking about small villages thats such a strawman argument I’m pretty sure almost everyone in this comment section using a phone to comment does not currently live in a tiny village in the middle of no where.
Victoria Alyssa no i’m a broke immigrant and I’m vegan
Yes omg I couldn't handle him! "Like you're telling me there's not even a banana..." No Richard there are no bananas in the arctic circle, not everyone has access, resources, and education to be vegan.
“i’m not into labels”
dude with the pineapple shirt:
💀💀💀
Y’all talking bout Richard but can we talk about Elizabeth. She ain’t tryna force being Vegan down on anyone, and instead she lives by example.
Billy Da Squid what I was saying 🗣🗣🗣🗣
Billy Da Squid Plus she honestly seems so open minded, non judgemental, and doesn’t push them on people. Ye she lives by example and seems to educate without seeming like she is belittling ppl
Which vegans are forcing being vegan onto others? None... y'all just prefer if vegans are quieter so you don't have to consider the moral implications of your actions as often.
@@spaghetti1383 people like richard are forcing it to others and also: moral implicatons? Sorry i am not gonna stop eating meat because someone said meat sucks. Humas have been eating meat since our exsistence. I am not gonna chanhe that. Also fruits are living creatures and everyone still consumes them isn't that wrong aswell then?
Logan Hargrove no everyone has a voice and should be heard. I myself am not vegan but I’m open to the experience when I have time and money to do my research. I’m saying that Elizabeth set the perfect example of not only leading by example but understanding that not everyone shares the same views. I’m not encouraging meat eating nor am I encouraging veganism. I’m just saying ELIZABETH did a spectacular job giving her POV and so did everyone else. I just like what she had to say a bit more. I respect Richard as well for his strong stance on it. With out him being as grounded as he was we wouldn’t see the complexity of the aurguement. He made a fair and just argument and wasn’t as annoying as most people think. I just believe to get people to get curious in your lifestyle you have to lead by example.
