I love Spironolactone. It's working beautifully for me so far. My hair is growing on my head while excess hair is reducing on my face, legs, arms. My gynecologist took blood tests and prescribed this to me. I drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated. I hope my kidneys don't become affected though. That's the one thing I worry about.
Did you notice any mood swings or change of mood? I was prescribed Spironolactone. 50 mgs at night. And 50 mgs in morning. I am kinda scared. I already get testosterone pellets.
Hello dr.I am 24years.I have hormonal acny.then I consult a doctor he recomend me, evarose oil.spirocard 25,qcin tablet and cleandax b jel and retigel cream.egulo ki thik ache naki aro kichu follow korte hobe
Hello Mizan Mizan, I have to defer to your doctor's judgment about treating your acne as they have examined your acne, and your skin type, and I have not. I hope this helps you.
Hello Dr..im a 45 yr ols female.I have been suffering frontal and now side hair loss...when I shower bulks of hair also falls off...I would like to know how to get an appointment with you and the prices for the treatment you are providing. I was recently prescribed with Spironolactone 100 MG tab once a day...don't know what to do..
Hi Erika Zavalza, Sorry to hear about your problem. Female pattern hair loss is progressive hair thinning, not hair shedding, so you a proper diagnosis of your hair loss condition is required before we initiate treatment. You can contact our offices to make an appointment for consultation, as well as a price range of possible treatment. Our offices are located in the US in Manhattan, New York City which you can call at (212) 265-8877; Garden City, Long Island at (516) 742-4636; or Vienna, Virginia at (703) 356-1336. You can also reach us through www.prasadcosmeticsurgery.com, www.nyhairloss.com, or www.trichostem.com by filling out a contact form, and we will get back to you. I hope to hear from you soon.
I finally got to see a dermantologist today, dermdox. I am not satisfied with how they handled me 😣 she saw my hair took her finger and poked my scalp in 1 spot, backed away and said "hmm maybe stress based hairloss" she then looked at previous bloodwork and said everything else looks good. It was a less than 5 minute long appointment and all she did was POKE my scalp one time in one spot!
Sorry to hear that, Guanimos. If you suspect genetic pattern hair loss, at least a microscopic exam of your scalp is needed to identify thinning hair. You can refer to this video on how we diagnose, and treat female patter hair loss - ruclips.net/video/2WhELyekG4A/видео.html
Hi Doctor! I'm 22y/o F from India. I have high testosterone and PCOD. I suffer from severe hair fall and loss specially male pattern baldness from past year and weight gain. Endocrinologist prescribed my Metformin BD and aldactone OD for 1 month. Please tell me will it stop my hair fall? I have tried all before.. all multivitamins and biotin and PRP treatment. Pls help. 🙏
Hi Yashasvi Dalvi, Sorry to hear about your problem, but I do have to defer to your doctor's judgment as they have analyzed your hormone levels, and prescribed you hormone therapy. I primarily treat female pattern hair loss, and I refer patients needing hormone therapy to their gynecologist or endocrinologist. I hope this helps you.
Hello doctor I was misdiagnosed with PCOS , i was taking spironolactone for 3 and 1/2 month later i knew i was misdiagnosed. After stopping it, within 20 days i have lost half of my hair. I didn't had high testosterone, neither achne or hair problem ,i went to the doctor after being concerned with weight gain, then later on she told me i had pcos. After 3 and half month with the concern of hairfall I went to see another doctor ,the doctor told me my reports looks fine and i don't have pcos . How can I stop my hairfall?
Hi @SheIn-hk3km, Since I haven't diagnosed you for any conditions, I suggest you stop taking medications that were prescribed for your misdiagnosed PCOS, and see if your hair improves. If things don't improve, you will need an examination to determine the cause of your hair loss before treatment can be recommended. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hello doctor, Ive been experiencing hair loss for the past several months. My derm recommended me minoxidil 5, which has caused significant shedding. She later did bloodwork & found out I have high testosterone levels & put me on Spironolocane. Should I continue to use minoxidil with spironoolocane? Or should I just use spiroonolocane?
Hi Rahima Khatun, In my opinion, testosterone does not have a significant impact on female pattern hair loss, so I don't usually prescribe spironolactone to my female pattern hair loss patients. As for minoxidil, both my male and female patients can stop using it after the Hair Regeneration treatment. Minoxidil needs to be used continuously if you want to avoid a sudden hair shed, but this can also happen with time if you continue using it daily. There are limited treatments available for female pattern hair loss, which is why we offer a more effective alternative that doesn't require minoxidil or spironolactone. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi turiou, Minoxidil does take several months of daily use before it takes effect. I generally don't find spironolactone to be an effective treatment for female pattern hair loss, and it usually takes a year or more for effects to be noticed. I don't prescribe spironolactone, so you can talk to your prescribing doctor about it. Our female TrichoStem Hair Regeneration patients featured in the video don't need to use minoxidil, or spironolactone, but can thicken their hair much more effectively than either of these drugs. You can refer to this more recent video about it - ruclips.net/video/lbngJ1a5GIw/видео.html
Hello Doctor , I am so happy I've came through your channel , I'm a medical student suffering from abdominal obesity , my nutritionnist gave me Metformin 850mg which i take once a day directly after my lunch . For my hair loss which looks alot like the pattern you ve descrived , I ve been using minoxidil but It was really hard to accept face hair and the other side effects so i am thinking about starting Spironolactone 100 mg once a day also but I am afraid because diuretic can cause Functionnal kidneys failure which may major the hyperkaliemia .. What do you think Doctor . Thank you so much
Hi Elixir's, As a medical student, you are aware that a proper diagnosis is needed before you start treatment, or take medication. I actually don't prescribe spironolactone to my female pattern hair loss patients, as effects are limited, and they don't need it after our injection treatment. You can refer to these more recent videos about how we diagnose and treat female pattern hair loss, and why our TrichoStem Hair Regeneration patients don't need minoxidil or spironolactone after our injection treatment: ruclips.net/video/2WhELyekG4A/видео.html ruclips.net/video/lbngJ1a5GIw/видео.html
Hello sir I am 20 year old girls I am suffering this disease from last 6 years day by bay there are lager no of hairs fall from my scale . Now I am in to much depression . What should I have to do please suggest me.
Hi suruchi kumari, Sorry to hear about your problem. It's important you see a doctor to diagnose your disease. It is normal to shed 50-100 hairs a day, and these hairs grow back. If it's excessive shedding, or the hair doesn't grow back, you need to see a doctor to diagnose the cause. Pattern hair loss is gradual hair thinning, not hair shedding. I hope this helps you.
Does your Trichostem treatment have animal products in it? I looked up the ACell extracellular matrix you put the PRP but was not able to verify. I am interested in this therapy with you. Also, I very much like your videos. Very informative and you seem like an extremely educated MD who keeps up with research, etc. Thank you for helping people with your content.
Hi Patricia Massari, Extracellular matrix by ACell is derived from porcine bladder because of its remarkable healing properties, but it is sterilized and processed to remove unnecessary biological material. People with dietary or religious restrictions need to make this choice for themselves, but a good number of patients with these concerns have still gone ahead with the treatment. Thank you so much for your kind words, and for watching my channel!
Hello doctor, I'm suffering from female pattern hair loss, my doctor prescribed me minoxidil which I'm using from last 5 months but didn't noticed any result, and my hair condition is worse now, I herd about homeopathy medicine so should I go with it and with homeopathy medicine should I get any other treatments Like prp, spironolactone or any other?
Hi shibani, I don't administer PRP alone to treat female pattern hair loss, and our TrichoStem Hair Regeneration patients don't need to use minoxidil, or spironolactone after our injection treatment. You can refer to these more recent videos about how we diagnose, and treat female pattern hair loss; the differences of TrichoStem Hair Regeneration from PRP alone; and why our female patients can stop using minoxidil and spironolactone after our injection treatment: ruclips.net/video/2WhELyekG4A/видео.html ruclips.net/video/xSMTd9qVwNo/видео.html ruclips.net/video/lbngJ1a5GIw/видео.html
Hi @shimaaali3286, There are reports of people using spironolactone with issues with weight gain, and cellulite, but I don't have direct experience with this in my patients since I don't prescribe spironolactone. The chances of these issues are best discussed with a doctor who prescribes spironolactone. I hope this helps you.
Thanks doc, I am a female with excess hair all over my body, not PCOS or something but genetic since I am South Asian, Is it hirsutism? Can this be cured by hormones therapy if it is genetic?
Hi smartgreen life, It is possible, but you should contact your medical doctor about this as it's not an area of expertise for me. I hope this helps you.
Hi Sofiane Belbrik, It's not clear what your dermatologist prescribed spironolactone for, but I don't prescribe it for female pattern hair loss. Also, it's not clear if you're male or female, as spironolactone is testosterone blocker not usually prescribed for males. You can refer to this more recent video on why our female pattern hair loss patients don't need to use spironolactone or minoxidil after our injection treatment - ruclips.net/video/lbngJ1a5GIw/видео.html
Hi Dr. Amiya, do you know if you can have even worse hair loss after shaving your head, after I shaved my head using shaving cream my hair never grew back in certain areas 😔
Hi Rania M, Sorry to hear about your problem. Shaving your head should not affect hair growth, so you should have this examined by a doctor, and provide information on what type of shaving cream you used. I hope this helps you.
Hi Jim Boland, Testosterone level in women is not significant enough for DHT to be a major contributor to female pattern hair loss, so I wouldn't prescribe a DHT blocker to women. I also mention in the video that I do not prescribe spironolactone, but we do have many patients coming in who are already on it.
Hi Nedaa is free, I don't prescribe spironolactone to my female pattern hair loss patients as I don't find a testosterone blocker to be an effective treatment. You can refer to these videos on how we diagnose and treat female pattern hair loss: ruclips.net/video/aTb_Evz1jIM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/eIFL1-mrg0I/видео.html ruclips.net/video/lbngJ1a5GIw/видео.html
Dr. I have been taking hair fall treatment for the past 7 months. Now only I stopped feeding.so Dr. prescribed minoxidil(using from january month). For the past three weeks im facing severe hair fall. Tis month Dr.prescribed Aldactone 50 along with minoxidil. Is severe hairfall normal when using minoxidil?Im having fear that I may loose my remaing hair too. Im in confusion that whether I use aldactone or not?(because some people said that it may irregular the periods) Can I continue minoxidil? When I need to go for PRP? Kindly give best solution to me Dr. Waiting for ur reply.
Hi Priya v, I actually made a video on how we can treat female pattern hair loss successfully without minoxidil or spironolactone (generic for Aldactone), but it's not PRP alone. This is the video, for your reference- ruclips.net/video/lbngJ1a5GIw/видео.html
Hi Nimra Jabeen, I don't normally prescribe spironolactone, but we can treat female pattern hair loss without it. The cause of your hair loss needs to be properly diagnosed before I can recommend specific treatments.
Hello Dr. I m suffering from hypothyroidism n pcos . I have taken many treatment but had no results at all.my scalp is clearly seen.plz help me..i m stressed.plz help
Hi Trendy Apsara, Sorry to hear about your problem, but those are both conditions that are out of my specialties, so I suggest you see an endocrinologist, as was as your gynecologist to treat those conditions. You can refer to this more recent video on how we diagnose, and treat female pattern hair loss - ruclips.net/video/2WhELyekG4A/видео.html
Hi Tara Sims, We have patients from out of state and from around the world coming to our office for treatment every day. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in New York. Many patients actually get back on the plane home the same day as treatment, but I don't recommend this for everyone as it is dependent on general health condition and age. Some patients with advanced hair loss may get a second treatment 15-24 months after the first, which is done at no additional charge, and results for out of state patients are monitored through Skype, FaceTime, or email follow up.I hope this clarifies things for you.
Can spironolactone trigger hair loss who have not experienced hair loss before? I have never experienced hair loss and actually had full thick hair until I began taking spironolactone. I noticed having shedding and loss of volume when I began the medication to treat minor hirsutism.
Hi hahadarrie, Spironolactone should not increase hair loss as it is a drug to reduce testosterone levels. I recommend that you see your doctor to properly diagnose the cause of hair shedding. I hope this helps you.
maybe telogen effluvium from sudden hormone change..its a shock to the system/body that prematerly puts anagen follicles into the shedding phase..hair has a 3 year lifespan usually but stress can shorten it
I hv experienced the same. Till yesterday i was taking the medicine. This morning i woke up and thought if my hair fall was because of the medicine and i hv been taking it for the hair fall.!!!! I m going to stop the medicine from today.
Sahreen Afzal my doctor just prescribed the medication to me and I am hesitant to take it because of the hair loss it causes (I’ve read a few reviews)I’m afraid my hair loss will worsen and not improve. How soon after did you notice an increase in the hair loss?
Hello doctor I m facing with a oily scalp. After using aggressive shampoo it get worst than previous. Having also dandruff on my scalp. No new hair regrowth. Day by day hair becoming too much thin.pls give me solution
Hi BRONE KHAN, Sorry to hear that. It's important you see a doctor about your hair thinning to confirm if it's pattern hair loss. Pattern hair loss is caused by genetics, not by aggressive shampooing or dandruff. A diagnosis is needed before recommending treatment. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Dr thanks a lot for this video and ur answers to all those who asked u really u have clarified things. But do you have an alternative or any other treatment for hair loss except for the minoxidil and spironolactone because I really suffer my hair is so thin in the front side in the first part of my head and I can't do hair regeneration pleas can u advise m what to do to have hair regrowth and thanks a lot
Hi fifi fofa, Hair Regeneration is the alternative to spironolactone and minoxidil for female pattern hair loss. Hair Regeneration can thicken thinning hair and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles. Hair transplant is not advised for most cases of female pattern hair loss because the trauma of placing hair grafts close to existing hair follicles can permanently damage those follicles and causing more hair loss. Hair transplant for women is only safe if there are no native hairs in the transplant recipient site. I will have a video soon about when hair transplantation applies to women, but female pattern hair loss is diffuse, meaning it happens all over the scalp, so in most cases its not safe for women without damaging nearby hair follicles. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hello Dr, I just got my biopsy results done by my dermatologist bc I was experiencing hair loss for about a year .. 6 months ago I notice the thining all over but where it’s more noticeable is on the side of my head temples area. It says it’s compatible with androgenetic alopecia also it’s compatible with mild pauci-inflammatory but non scarring alopecia. They did some blood work and thyroid was ok but my estorgen levels are high exactly 623.4H and also my vitamin D was low 26L. I’m 29 years old and this has been devastating/confusing news but my question is .. is there a possibility that if I balance my estrogen and vitamin d will that help and fix my hair loss before starting rogaine. I don’t know what to do next. This is a very scary reality, I watched your videos and I know getting to the root of the problem comes first before doing treatment .. I know I probably shouldn’t be getting my hopes up but wonder if I balance those out my hair can go back to normal.
Also not sure if I should go to my primary care for full blood work or a obgyn/ endocrinologist? I don’t want to wait too long for treatment either since I know the sooner the better, im a deer in headlights. I’m also very interested in your treatment. I don’t hear much success story’s when it comes to FPHL which has be more worried about this.
Hi Miss Valeria, I advise you have your hormonal levels balanced out prior to treatment. Although female pattern hair loss is traditionally very difficult to treat, we have gotten outstanding results for female patients since 2011. Over 99% of female pattern hair loss patients get visible improvement with our Hair Regeneration treatment, and the majority only need one treatment session which can last 3-5 years. You can watch this recent video, which I hope answers some of your other concerns: ruclips.net/video/aTb_Evz1jIM/видео.html
Sir, I'm a female but having lot of hair under my neck and chin. I was using spironolactone for about a year and I literally loss all my hair on my head but the hair on my chin is still growing. Please advise me when I can do. I'm so stressed
Hi I'm mariama, Sorry to hear about your problem. I would first start a proper diagnosis to see if you have female pattern hair loss, as there are many causes of hair loss in women. To confirm female pattern hair loss, scalp biopsies are needed. You can refer to these videos about the different causes of hair loss in women, and how we treat female pattern hair loss: ruclips.net/video/LGchRe1q1SY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/aTb_Evz1jIM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/eIFL1-mrg0I/видео.html
MY sister is sick and the stomac is swolling en the legs feet all are sweling they took HER to one Doctor Bangura and HE gave my sister SPIRONOLACTONE does HE want my sister to get well or to DIE pls guys tell me now what to do cause i told my sister to stop taking it pls am waiting for your respons pls get back to me
Hi Doris Komba, Sorry to hear about your sister's situation, but there are no clear details provided about your sister's condition prior to seeing the doctor. There are several medical uses for spironolactone, so prescribing it can help these conditions. Without these details, I cannot recommend anything. I suggest you get a clear diagnosis from the doctor, or get a second opinion from another doctor who can physically diagnose her condition as I cannot do that with just your comment. I hope this helps you.
Hi noran sameh, For female pattern hair loss, our TrichoStem Hair Regeneration patients don't even need minoxidil after the injection treatment. You can refer to these videos on how we diagnose and treat female pattern hair loss: ruclips.net/video/aTb_Evz1jIM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/eIFL1-mrg0I/видео.html
Hi Mahmoud Shaker, Spironolactone is a testosterone blocker, and testosterone is important for normal male systemic function. A major factor in pattern hair loss in men is sensitivity to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that causes hair to thin. DHT can be blocked with a DHT-blocker like finasteride. Blocking testosterone in men will lead to more serious systemic issues. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Batool, It depends on your age and level of DHT-sensivity. For younger male patients with high DHT-sensitivity who lose hair in their 20s, finasteride is essential part of the treatment plan with Hair Regeneration. With older male patients with later onset of hair loss, say in their 40s, they are less DHT-sensitive, and can succeed with Hair Regeneration alone, and without finasteride. Generally for female pattern hair loss patients, DHT is not an issue and they can manage hair loss effectively with Hair Regeneration alone. It's important to note that DHT-sensitivity is hardwired into the DNA, so hair loss treatment is about management to keep as much hair as possible, for as long as possible, but there is no cure for pattern hair loss. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi AMS khan, Sweat on your scalp can affect your transplant procedure, so it is best to take a week off after your transplant to avoid high temperatures during the initial healing period. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Louse Cadet, Spironolactone is a prescription medication, and one I don't usually prescribe as I don't find it effective; and women generally shouldn't be using DHT-blockers. You do need to have a proper diagnosis for female pattern hair loss before considering specific treatments. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi dr. This mdicine dr.prescribe me for pcos problem, and tell continue it 3month,but cause of my heart sickness i can't continue. Now how do in my pcos problem??
Hi Shahanaz Mitu, Sorry to hear about your problem. You should be discussing with your doctor who has already diagnosed you for alternative treatments for PCOS. I hope this helps you.
Hi Jolas Nicolas, No, spironolactone is not prescribed by men as testosterone is an essential male hormone, and spironolactone is a testosterone blocker. DHT-blockers for men include finasteride, and dutasteride. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Desi OtakU, There is no link between spironolactone, and breast cancer. With that said, I don't prescribe spironolactone as a female pattern hair loss treatment. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Doctor, I’m diagnosed with androgenic alopecia. My doctor told me PRP for the first six months has to be done once a month continuously..it’s costly and I’m wondering if I can do it every two month?
Hi Jenny Tn, I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Also, the number of sessions needed does vary, and the longevity of results is unpredictable. Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment for most patients, and can last up to 5 years and beyond, depending on the aggressiveness of the hair loss pattern. You don't need repeat injections periodically, and many older Hair Regeneration patients don’t need maintenance drugs like finasteride, but finasteride can concurrently help younger male patients with very early and aggressive hair loss. PRP injections for hair loss are needed indefinitely.
hi dr, can I use Spironolactone for my hair loss treatment I have done hair transplant as well in last year but still have hair loss . can Spironolactone will help to grow my hair?
Hi All True, Spironolactone is a testosterone blocker, which I don't find to be very effective for female pattern hair loss, and I don't prescribe it in my practice. If you have female pattern hair loss, and would like to thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from hair follicles currently not growing, look into the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hello,Doctor.I am a girl and suffering from hairfall problem.I want to know that If I stop taking Spirolacton,is it will harm in future,I mean to say Is it will increase hair fall like Minoxidil.....
Hi Suhana Subha, I don't prescribe spironolactone, but I have some female patients who take it, and some say it's effective, and some say it's not. If it's working for you, you may see its effects decrease if you stop it. If it isn't working for you, then it shouldn't make things worse if you stop using it. Minoxidil doesn't cause hair loss, but its effects of delaying the hair shedding cycle and prolonging the growth cycle will stop if you stop using it, so you can experience more hair shedding. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hello sir Can u suggest me best doctor in india for alopiace disease. Because From last 6 months I have spend 40,000 bt there is no result . And at last I am haveing lots of pain into my scale .
Hi suruchi kumari, Sorry to hear about your problem, but I'm not familiar with doctors in India. We don't currently offer the Hair Regeneration treatment in India, but we do have many Indian patients coming to the US for treatment. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. Many patients actually get back on the plane home the same day as treatment, but I don't recommend this for everyone as it is dependent on general health condition and age.
Hi Mahi Jan, We do treat PCOS-related hair loss with TrichoStem Hair Regeneration on a case-by-case basis. Hormone therapy if often needed in addition to the injection treatment. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi kiran malganvi,I hope you understand I have many patients from all over the world coming to the US for this treatment, so it makes more sense for Indian patients to come and see us here. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. Many patients actually get back on the plane home the same day as treatment, but I don't recommend this for everyone as it is dependent on general health condition and age.

Good to hear that it's working well for you
Will it alter monthly cycles?
SayItLoud: Is it still working for you? How many milligrams? How long did you use it before you saw results?
Did you notice any mood swings or change of mood? I was prescribed Spironolactone. 50 mgs at night. And 50 mgs in morning. I am kinda scared. I already get testosterone pellets.

Hello doctor
I was misdiagnosed with PCOS , i was taking spironolactone for 3 and 1/2 month later i knew i was misdiagnosed.
Hi @SheIn-hk3km,
Since I haven't diagnosed you for any conditions, I suggest you stop taking medications that were prescribed for your misdiagnosed PCOS, and see if your hair improves. If things don't improve, you will need an examination to determine the cause of your hair loss before treatment can be recommended. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hello doctor,
Ive been experiencing hair loss for the past several months. My derm recommended me minoxidil 5, which has caused significant shedding. She later did bloodwork & found out I have high testosterone levels & put me on Spironolocane. Should I continue to use minoxidil with spironoolocane? Or should I just use spiroonolocane?
Hi Rahima Khatun,
In my opinion, testosterone does not have a significant impact on female pattern hair loss, so I don't usually prescribe spironolactone to my female pattern hair loss patients.
Hello doctor its such a great content
Im using spironolactone with minoxidil for AGA how long its gonna take to see results!
Hi turiou,
Minoxidil does take several months of daily use before it takes effect.
Thank you so much
Hi Elixir's,
As a medical student, you are aware that a proper diagnosis is needed before you start treatment, or take medication. I actually don't prescribe spironolactone to my female pattern hair loss patients, as effects are limited, and they don't need it after our injection treatment. Hello sir I am 20 year old girls I am suffering this disease from last 6 years day by bay there are lager no of hairs fall from my scale . Now I am in to much depression . What should I have to do please suggest me.
Hi suruchi kumari,
Sorry to hear about your problem.
Hi Patricia Massari,
Extracellular matrix by ACell is derived from porcine bladder because of its remarkable healing properties, but it is sterilized and processed to remove unnecessary biological material. People with dietary or religious restrictions need to make this choice for themselves, but a good number of patients with these concerns have still gone ahead with the treatment.
Thank you so much for your kind words, and for watching my channel!
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thank you so much Dr. Prasad. I truly appreciate the response/information and of course your wonderful channel.

Hi shibani,

Hi @shimaaali3286,
There are reports of people using spironolactone with issues with weight gain, and cellulite, but I don't have direct experience with this in my patients since I don't prescribe spironolactone. The chances of these issues are best discussed with a doctor who prescribes spironolactone. I hope this helps you.

Hi doctor, my dermatologist prescribed me a 75mg of spironolactone twice a day for 3 months and I’m a 23 years old guy, is this okay ?
Hi Sofiane Belbrik,
It's not clear what your dermatologist prescribed spironolactone for, but I don't prescribe it for female pattern hair loss. Also, it's not clear if you're male or female, as spironolactone is testosterone blocker not usually prescribed for males.

Hi Dr. Amiya, do you know if you can have even worse hair loss after shaving your head, after I shaved my head using shaving cream my hair never grew back in certain areas 😔
Hi Rania M,
Sorry to hear about your problem. Shaving your head should not affect hair growth, so you should have this examined by a doctor, and provide information on what type of shaving cream you used. I hope this helps you.
What do you think of finasteride or dutasteride for female pattern hair loss in women who don't want to get pregnant anymore?
Hi Jim Boland,
Testosterone level in women is not significant enough for DHT to be a major contributor to female pattern hair loss, so I wouldn't prescribe a DHT blocker to women. I also mention in the video that I do not prescribe spironolactone, but we do have many patients coming in who are already on it.

What do you say to people who don’t live in your state? What other options do we have?
Hi Tara Sims,
We have patients from out of state and from around the world coming to our office for treatment every day.
Hi hahadarrie,
Spironolactone should not increase hair loss as it is a drug to reduce testosterone levels.

Hi BRONE KHAN,
Sorry to hear that.
Hi fifi fofa,
Hair Regeneration is the alternative to spironolactone and minoxidil for female pattern hair loss.

Hi Miss Valeria,
I advise you have your hormonal levels balanced out prior to treatment.

Hi Doris Komba,
Sorry to hear about your sister's situation, but there are no clear details provided about your sister's condition prior to seeing the doctor.
What do you recommend to your patients. Minoxidil and what else?
Hi noran sameh,

Why spironolactone can't be used in men for androgenic alopecia doctor ?
Hi Mahmoud Shaker,
Spironolactone is a testosterone blocker, and testosterone is important for normal male systemic function.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD yeah, thanks alot
You're welcome,@@mahmoudshaker6346
If I do hair regeneration will DHT sensitivity still destroy my hair after this treatment?
Hi Batool,
It depends on your age and level of DHT-sensivity.
Sir , can I do hair transplant in summer season, if I do but where I am working there temperature 35°c to 40°c is it affect my HT surgery
Hi AMS khan,
Sweat on your scalp can affect your transplant procedure, so it is best to take a week off after your transplant to avoid high temperatures during the initial healing period. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hey doc, can I use spirolactone and DTH blocker (supplement) together?
Hi Louse Cadet,
Spironolactone is a prescription medication, and one I don't usually prescribe as I don't find it effective; and women generally shouldn't be using DHT-blockers. You do need to have a proper diagnosis for female pattern hair loss before considering specific treatments. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Desi OtakU,
There is no link between spironolactone, and breast cancer.
Hi Jenny Tn,
I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. okay. Thanks again doctor. 😊
hi dr,
can I use Spironolactone for my hair loss treatment I have done hair transplant as well in last year but still have hair loss . can Spironolactone will help to grow my hair?
Hi All True,
Spironolactone is a testosterone blocker, which I don't find to be very effective for female pattern hair loss, and I don't prescribe it in my practice.
Hi Suhana Subha,
I don't prescribe spironolactone, but I have some female patients who take it, and some say it's effective, and some say it's not.
Amiya Prasad, M.D. Thanks Doctor
