    How did you get a car? Is the process to get a car/licence hard? And how do you find driving in Korea? Thanks love your videos❤️

    • @KaylaAlexandria
      @KaylaAlexandria  4 года назад +12

      I bought my car from another foreign teacher who was selling through a FB group! As a canadian, I really just had to trade in my own licence, fill out a bunch of paperwork and get an eye check. Driving in my town specifically is like a video game because people don't usually follow rules so it helps to be a defensive driver, haha. I appreciate your support soo much and I'll keep the videos coming for ya!!

    I am currently a college student going for my bachelors degree in interior design. I’ve always wanted to be a English teacher in another country and seeing your video did make me tear up a little bit. I have a few questions though:
    1: After you have your bachelors degree, does the school need you to do additional schooling to know korean? I don’t know know korean, how hard is it to move around without knowing korean.
    2: do you have a co-teacher to help you? Or someone that can help you translate thing when talking to other teachers or the principal?
    3: how is there education system are they strict on test score like they are over here in the U.S. or actually teaching the students?
    4: are you happy? Does it get boring at times? How hard is when you see your students leave your class to go on to middle school?
    I think my biggest problem would be feeling alone because I moved to another country and not being around friends and family, how do you cope with it?

    • @KaylaAlexandria
      @KaylaAlexandria  3 года назад +2

      1: Additional schooling to learn Korean is not necessary. As long as you learn some basic phrases and download a translation app, you should be just fine! Making Korean native friends is helpful as well!
      2: My co-teachers did help me a lot and the principals and other teachers already knew enough English to communicate with me, luckily!
      3: The education system strives to actually teach the students from my experience, I wasn't required to do much testing for my students as their Korean teachers would usually handle grading.
      4: I was extremely happy while teaching in Korea, it would get boring occasionally but I always found ways to occupy my time. I was very sad to see my favourite students go to middle school 'cause I had such a great relationship with them.
      I was lucky enough to make amaaaazing friends so I hardly ever felt lonely, you'd be surprised how independent you become on your own and how many people you'll meet! I hope this helps!

    Hi I have a question !!!! I want to teach high school. My USA major is Secondary Social Science Education major (it allows to teach grades 6-12th) - Is there a chance I could teach high school in Korea? Or just it just elementary English teaching?

    • @KaylaAlexandria
      @KaylaAlexandria  2 года назад

      Yes there is a chance! You can let your placement/recruiter know that you are looking to teach older students and you may be placed with middle/high school aged kids.

      Thank you! It was difficult to make this video without showing my kids' faces cause that's the best part of my day haha. I have brought my own lunch a few times but eating Korean lunches with the students is where I learn so much about the culture through the food.

    i’ve been wanting to a doctor for a while and then i’ve seen videos of how hard it is and how hard u need to study and i thought about another job.. and i thought about an english teacher teaching in korea. i’m bilingual and i feel like it would be a better job than a doctor for me... do you recommend this type of job?

    • @KaylaAlexandria

      I absolutely reccommend teaching abroad! My advice would be to do your research and make sure it's a place you would like to go! But you can always go into teaching for a while and return to be a doctor if you choose to!
