Hi Maria ❤ I agree niche is not the same anymore. My intuition is that many brands won’t be here in 15 years. Personally I try to trust my nose and avoid cash flow machines whenever I can recognize one. 😊
Great video! Don’t get me started with this topic of environmental preservation bs or global warming bs for that matter. I’m aware about of all the topics you’ve mentioned for couple years now, and I don’t understand why it isn’t talked about more often. I’m sick and tired of these new releases without no artistry whatsoever. I’m a Angel lover, and what L’Oréal did for the Angel elixir was an insult and a murder of the core of that fragrance which was remove the chocolate style Patchuli that I adored. I have one last bottle from 2010 pre L’Oréal that I spritz only twice and I smell all day. Yesterday I used my last bottle of Hermes Caleche soie parfum from 2000, I could smell me until 9 pm. You can smell the artistry in so many old formulations that I resitate to buy flankers or new formulations. I’ve been so disappointed with the fragrance community hyping perfumes that smells almost the same from every brand, making it unisex to fit in everybody, I say no, I’m a woman and I’d appreciate a good chypre, a good floral oriental, a good incense, woody and etc.
Really enjoyed the analysis you've made on the perfume industry. As for the name of the podcast series, you've nailed it and could go even shorter PNP - Perfume Nation Podcast. Make this a regular series. 😊
For me it was the opposite post initial infection and resultant anosmia. Once my receptors began to recover, they became significantly more sensitive to piercing aromachemicals that I literally didn't even notice before. Certainly added to my previous jaded disillusionment. 😂 But I'm on board for more people speaking their minds! 💡
@@MariaMeliora Because I know what many of the materials are and what they're worth. 🥺 Victoria from Bois de Jasmin was right. The industry relies heavily on fantasy.
I just remember being young and in love and wearing Poison and I adored it and it went away. The love affair has yet to be recreated. I have way to many perfumes, I honestly try to not want new ones.
Hi Maria : I inteviewed Calice Becker and moderated serveral workshops. Very nice to hear your comments. Hope you can make it next year: 19 - 22 February 2025!
I should have waited to the end because I agree with you about the China discussions. It's why this year I asked not to moderate that one and instead talk about the Middle East and its influence on western fragrance. Did you watch that one? thanks!
The show was huge. With all the panels I was involved with, I maybe got to 20 stands (out of 360!) There were a lot of exhibiting brands from the Middle East and we are starting to have more from Asia. Some of the conferences were really interesting. Take a look at the Sacred Woods if you enjoy ingredients. I agree we need to have a fresh perspective and to find more interesting topics. Check out the one I did on Edu-tainment. Take care!@@MariaMeliora
I'm surprised that Iris wasnt one of the most popular notes last year. Iris and cherry have been everywhere for the past couple of years, or maybe these were just popular on social media.
here are my very impromptu podcast names for the suggestions box. I really like what you have now i.e.Perfume Nation : Sensory Banter Constant Blotter Not Another Perfume Podcast Frag Dom Scented Letter Niche Notes Scarlet Blotter
Ur just simply a leader starting the discussion 🙂. You have made some excellent points. Seems to be more small fragrance businesses starting up these days; interesting to see what percentage start-ups affect the numbers. They say as we age our senses diminish, or some diminish while other senses are enhanced with age. Do the Baby boomers need more oomph? Keep on keeping on and we all will keep on watching! I certainly enjoy your content.
Loved it. I say you call your series Maria’s 2 Scents. I agree there is a lot of room for growth in China and South America within the perfume industry. I do however know about a great Brazilian house named Granado. Have you smelled any of their scents?
Thanks to your video, I am learning to put my emotions about perfumes aside and look at perfumery world from a different (unusual) angle. Fully agree that some of the trends are fake but are so much pushed to make consumers believe what they "really need". Unfortunately, perfumes lose their uniqueness and value lastly. This is so sad as I am a true perfume lover. I wonder how we can keep our interest and love in perfumes when the majority of new launches simply disappoints.
the greenwashing by the brands is absurd. ofc they care about the environment with their plastic-free packaging whilst promoting hyperconsumption and still doing animal testing. it's literally nothing but justifying cheaper packaging and formulations and making the consumers feel less guilty about buying their products.
Maria! I needed this video 🌹
how timely! i was about to reach out - wanna jump in for an interview to share some hot takes?

Maria this was amazing, so refreshing hearing someone actually saying all those things that should be said out loud ❤
I'm still terrified i did it lol
3314 releases, and half of them were from Zara. 😅🙄
lol :))))
You said it best, The State of the Perfume Nation Podcast.
Thank you for feedback!! I had about a dozen names I was debating 😄

Wow that is fascinating! If you could smell more nuances - why did it lead disillusionment?

oh how curious, no haven't had a chance to try!
I'm intentionally ignoring all the fragrances with "Clean" label.
Your china analysis- a work of art.

Thank you for the video Maria
Green washing is a trend as well. Call it green and cover up cost savings like that 😂 that is happening a lot more in fashion and not only ❤
Brilliant!

My ppl use guns and balaclavas to free animals from abuse. They dont do yoga and essential oils.

@@MariaMeliora exactly. Aka not hippie.
