Kenya government should never again give contracts to those foreign wazungu contractors. We ourselves can do it or contractors who have Africa love at heart like Africa Americans. Otherwise we will always have unending poverty in our countries coz of dealing with people who take Africans as lesser to themselves.

@@broeisi You are right. It's only when we beat the fear of making mistakes that we will start moving in the right direction. Development can only come from within. I hope the government will document every step of how it succeeds in such a project so that it can be replicated elsewhere.
The same with beautification of Nairobi as well and provision of clean water to slums within weeks. Not forgetting Nairobi Nanyuki railway rehabilitation within months. KENYANS WE CAN DO IT !!!!!

The best thing is for us Africans to form companies and go out for those contracts. We have to take it on ourselves. Also, we should do honest dealings and do the work so that even the government can trust the locals. I think this is why they fear giving locals contracts

Not sure they intend to fully privatize it. Probably what they have in mind is a viable PPP. Investors in question here are just farmers who need land. Such arrangements have been happening all over the country. You are ready to farm but have no land. You lease a piece of land for a year or so for a certain amount or for a percentage of the harvest. In this case, farmers would be "leasing" from the gov't. At least, that's my understanding, Peter.

28-90kg bags per acre, cost of production 45k, profit margin 33k(~70%), price per bag ~3200. After pumping billions of taxpayer money in putting infrastructure and demonstration of viability there would be no favorable change on price of Unga for mwananchi. GoK should protect Kenyans from the investors and stop enticing them with 70%profits at expense of mwananchi who is also a major shareholder.
