Good morning sir,i m taking sulfaselazine for past 21 months. till one year there are as no side effects of sulfaselazine but from January 2022 i m suffering from dry cough.after every 2 months dry cough starts.can it be due to sulfaselazine?
Usha ji, what is the dose of your Salfasalazine 1000mg per day or 1500mg per day ? Definitely on some studies done for Salfasalazine, there is an increased risk of lung infection ( may not be severe) with Salfasalazine though as with any other DMARDs like Methotrexate and Leflunomide. That may be a cause for your cough. If the cough is not severe then you can avoid using any kind of drug. Focus on how you can save yourself from viruses bacterias and funguses. You can add more vitamin c in your diet, wear mask while you are going out as much as possible in this season change. Please keep checking your Creatinine, Liver Functional Test, Lipid Profile and other inflammatory markers. If your cough is very severe then don't hesitate to have a X-ray PA View done and consult a Pulmonologist for the management of your cough. You may be prescribed short term steroid based inhaler to manage with cough with not much side effects. And please let me know what's your dose of Salfasalazine. Thank you.

Also take natural anti inflammatories like lemon, curcumin, fresh fruits, vegetables, Drumstick, almonds, zinger, omega 3 fatty acids etc. Also lead a stressless life because stress may increase inflammation, have proper sleep. Remember you have to fight with your disease. To talk about medicine you should consult your treating physician, after showing all the reports definitely he will consider the dose of Saaz .
