    Message for Roger Penrose.
How can distance or temperature be measured in the situation where there are no photons ? - or they are so far apart that there is not possibility of contact between them ?
Does this fix your scaling issue?

Stephen J. Crothers, Nuclear reactions in gaseous stars: Perspectives from kinetic theory and thermodynamics, Physics Essays, Volume 37: Pages 159-164, 2024.
ABSTRACT: In the Standard Model of gaseous stars, temperature is primary both in the initiation of thermonuclear reactions to form heavier elements and the emission of radiation. These processes have been described using thermodynamic expressions. However, within any given thermodynamic relation, not only must units balance on each side, but so must thermodynamic character. Temperature, whether or not equilibrium conditions are established, must always be intensive in macroscopic thermodynamics, and mass must be extensive. This ensures that the laws of thermodynamics are respected. The theory of temperatures and nuclear reactions within gaseous stars is constructed from the kinetic theory of an ideal gas, by which temperature is introduced, in combination with gravitational and Coulomb forces. The resulting thermodynamic relations impart a nonintensive character to temperature and a nonextensive character to mass. Consequently, the theory of nuclear reactions in gaseous stars is invalid. Deprived of the only theoretical means by which the Standard Model justifies stellar nuclear reactions, the theory of gaseous stars is not viable. The most reasonable alternative rests in lattice confinement fusion and the recognition that the stars are comprised of condensed matter, namely metallic hydrogen.

Robots to compete would require knowledge of all a human is: causal; energy; forces; plus the elemental or physical. Little of all levels is known today by humans who are still stuck with a view that is limited to the elemental; the physicality of Darwinism. Other dimensions: energy and causal levels that exist, and are endemic to the human, are for the great minds of the future to uncover, not to mention consciousness itself. We are still in the material age and the elemental or physical is the limit of comprehension for most people.
Sir Roger is a gift to humanity.

Let’s say 2 zero dimensional points were separated by time, yet still both existed simultaneously. If 1 second was like 1 second to one of those zero dimensional points, but 1 week was like 1 second to the other, it would make sense why the two are separated by time yet still exist simultaneously.
1 millionth of a second is to fast for us to experience or remember, so I guess it’s fair to say that in that time interval we don’t have a sense of being. The problem is that our sense of being is joined together by time intervals that are too fast for us to experience, so how is it that we have a sense of being at all.
If 100 years went by while we never had a sense of being, that 100 years to us would seem like a flash because we wouldn’t have any memory of not having a sense of being.
Let’s say we never had a sense of being forever. Would that infinitely long period of time be like a flash to us. Well if an infinitely long period of time existed it would be impossible to measure a finite period of time against it.
I think the only way our sense of being can not exist, is if instead of 1 second feeling like one second, and 1 hour or 1 month felt like a second, our sense of being would not exist to someone who 1 second was like 1 second to. So if 1 week felt like 1 second to us, but 1 second felt like 1 second to the person standing next to us, according to that person standing next to us our sense of being does not exist.
So if 1 week is like 1 second to us, would that mathematically be the same as our sense of being not existing for ever, ever and ever.
To us, a hurricane, wave, or falling line of dominos doesn’t have a sense of being, but from what has been discussed is that really true.

Consciousness can't be an algorithm. This would make computers 'conscious'. If consciousness is several algorithms acting at once in an interactive and parallel situation-maybe quintillions of parallel algorithms. Is there anything a human can do that an algorithm can't do?

AI & concordant, AI & sentience. Don't need any of that!. ASI will do mimickry so well, the most intelligent human can't tell the difference. So there, real or not, do not matter, it is and if Can do those things matters. High raw intelligence encompasses all aspects of human nature and possibly spans dimensional aspects as well. Ie. New cutting edge stuff we cannot comprehend due to our biological limitations.

If humans design desire into AI then it will have wants. The reason why AI at present doesn’t seem human, is because it doesn’t have a designed reward system. Why does Roger think humans won’t eventually engineer this within AI?

Roger is making it complicated. A being/object is conscious if it feels itself, responds to its surroundings, has memory, reasons and is capable of inference. All these are satisfied by AI. Even a coke machine has consciousness at a lower level. Consciousness has degrees and having sensors is a necessary part.
Stop making too big a deal of consciousness. After all doctors can turn it off by giving you a shot! 😂😂

So ironic not to understand what understanding is, or more precisely what it's not. Religious people actually have a more reasonable take on it. I'm highly skeptical of a supernatural origin of this superpower we have called consciousness, but one thing I'm certain is that a coke machine doesn't have it.
