  • I’ve changed… 5 years in, minimalism looks different for me now than it used to. So today I thought it would be fun to look back on some old advice I shared in my 50 THINGS I DO NOT BUY video to see how I’ve changed and how what I choose to invest in has evolved.

I never dye my hair or get my nails done. I used to spend so much time and money at the nail salon and I got burned out on it. Once in a while I will get a pedicure as a treat and to keep my feet not looking like a caveman's foot... lol. but i have saved SOOO much time, money and stress by not doing this. I also refuse to use false eyelashes because i know i will like them too much, and its wayyy too much maintenance

Buying in bulk never made any sense to me until I had a large family. I feel like a lot of it goes to waste when it isn’t used up quickly and then clutters up a space.

After seeing this I realise I am a bit of a minimalist as I agree with so many of the items on your list. I do have a handful of autumnal decorations I’ve been reusing for many years. I have been making my own Christmas wreathes for a few years, which is a craft I really enjoy.
Completely on board with using soap and no shaving cream. I purchased a handful of sisal soap bags a while back that I use in the shower and can pop in the washing machine which I love.

Hey friend. I started minimalism last year when I came across your videos, cos they motivated me alot!!!🥰 to finally do something about it. Though I must say I've been one at heart/naturally, your videos have helped me found my ground. I've decluttered alot of stuff from room to room ever since and love my minimal space. In general though, for lack of writing space, I live on "needs" and not "wants"!😌🍂

I loved this video! It was fun to hear how you’ve changed or not changed over the years. I don’t think I’d ever switch back to dryer sheets but I loved the reasoning behind why you did, I think it’s good to see you show love for your husband in that way!
I love being minimal, however I am not very minimal in how many books we have in our house! I sometimes declutter some books, but overall I love having books in our home bc I want an atmosphere of reading & loving books in our family! My kids love books so I would hate to take away things like that. I used to be very minimal in that regard bc I wanted all my books on my kindle to save space but now I don’t see it so much as bad clutter.

Believe it or not my husband and I actually do buy DVDs! We are definitely repeat watchers especially of our favorite movies and shows. We have been extremely disappointed in streaming services and cancelled all of them. We can lend them to friends which has been fun. For movies we don't want to own we rent one time only on youtube or amazon. It's one of those things that time will tell, but online services are not ownership. Any of these shows/movies could be pulled or altered. For those shows we want to have for years and years and re-watch with our kids someday- we buy to own. Plus no ads and you get extras/ behind the scenes footage!

My fix to impulse purchases is that whenever I go grocery shopping (max. once per week) I allow myself to get one thing that I impulse buy which must be under 10$ and something that can be used up. It's amazing! This way I can try pricy organic granola or get a small amount of quality chocolate or some novelty baking product.

I didn’t use to give to charity, because we had very little and I gave to my Church. Now I try to be more generous.

Feel good about not using mouthwash 😁
It is actually not very good for you and your mouth ‘flora’. Like your intestine, your mouth also has good ‘bacteria’ and you kill them off with the mouth wash. Using it once in a while is ok, but regular not!! 👍 Good choice not using it.

I hope you can find another way for Christopher to get the fresh laundry smell. Scented dryer sheets are bad for your clothes, bad for your skin and bad for the environment… and, to me, not fresh laundry smell but fake, sweet perfume smell. . I do appreciate your honesty and, of course, we all get to make our own purchase decisions. This one just seems so at odds with your clean, thoughtful, intentional way of living. There are often more important considerations than cost. Sorry to be critical. I do love your channel. Take care. ❤

"But as many as received Him (JESUS), to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name." (JOHN 1:12 NKJV)
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever BELIEVES in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life.
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (JOHN 3:16-17 NKJV)
By God's GRACE ✝️, the gift of Salvation and Eternal Life is available to all. You can RECEIVE it. You can REJECT it. May you choose wisely.
