The scene between Fran and Jote means so much more watching as an adult. Jote rebuffs Fran because it is her duty as the leader of the tribe, and because she still resents Fran for leaving, but she still loves her sister. When she sees that Fran not only rescues and returns Mjrn home, but that she specifically advises her impressionable younger sister against following her path and leaving Jote alone with no more family, Jote understands that Fran DOES respect the ways of the Viera, and the Green Word. It just isn't her way. But it is the right way for her family. Perhaps Jote tells the truth that the wood misses Fran, perhaps she's only speaking from her own heart. When Fran says that that is a pleasant lie, she's either refusing to accept the woods embrace because she misses it and wants to keep strength, or she's recognizing that Jote is lying. Either way it's the same: Fran's decision to leave has an irreperable wound within her own heart and that of her sisters, but still they love one another, they'll always be family.
It's really beautiful.

19:31 - 19:41 Hearing Fran's stoic and emotionless voice suddenly crack makes my goddamn soul ache, that was some great delivery by that voice actress.
I haven't even played XII, but seeing Fran say goodbye to Myrn, telling her to forget her, and Jote almost makes me cry.
Maybe there is hope for you yet. Even if your out is a video game!

@@Erk1234567 Yes, well, I just find Vaan annoying on every conceivable level. Every time he opens his mouth I cringe. He's like a bad fan character insert, and tends to ruin whatever cutscene he is in. Sure, Penelope chirps in every so often but the only thing I find offputting about her character is that weird leather wing-set strapped to her back like a fairy cosplayer outfit. Honestly, she should have been the young protagonist if this game needed one at all (minus the wing straps). But of course, we need to appeal to the young boy demographic... *sigh* which is what I was a part of when I first got this game.
@@fern1009 I mean, there was a time in High School when I thought Vaan to be insufferable, but since my last run of the game, I realized that Vaan actually has a decently paced, well-realized character arc, and now I find his lack of savvy to be... endearing? The Ivalice games are about deception and intrigue, but Vaan fails to play the part because, well, _fuck that,_ and I personally find that hilarious. Not to mention that Vaan's direct, unassuming nature actually helps the party from time to time. Does he stick out like a sore thumb compared to Ashe, Basch and the Sky Pirates? Well, yes, but I don't think this contrast is necessarily a bad thing. If anything, I think it rounds the party out.

Balthier yes, but Fran is a partner and she is helping everyone even tho she has nothing to do with the Empire
Other than 8 ,12 is my fav. I love the voiceovers the enunciation of the words the art the over all look of this world. So so so good .

The viera remind me of the DC Amazons... closed-off to the world, tall slender women, trained in nature, combat etc. and have bronze complexion. The only thing different are the bunny ears LOL

I made a Viera alt in ff14, I love her but wish she was as beastial as the tactics and ff12 Viera. I want claws and super elongated limbs
14's character creator has some amazing capacity to make absolutely gorgeous people.
If you spend five hours tweaking the settings to get everything juuuuust right.

It's funny that when I was younger and played FF12 in the PS2 I hated Fran's voice. But now that I recently played FF14 particularly on the Ivalice raids, I really missed her voice.

FF12 was great. Unfortunately the story was never finished. You can really tell too if you finish the game.
Nah the story wraps up the main narrative pretty clearly (restore Dalmascan sovereignty and defeat those who orchestrated its initial downfall). What is apparent though is that Vaan was never meant to be the main character. If anything, the party is more akin to a DnD party where no one player takes the spotlight, they don't really split off that much even and each one has some important role/quest to play in the story.
Not saying making the story focus on a singular character wouldn't have been a bad idea. Basch or Ashe as the main character would have made for a very good narrative imo.
FF12 was a complete shit show behind the scenes. I'm surprised we got a finished product at all, and not a massive reboot like FF Versus 13 to 15 was.
The biggest sin here is not playing this game with the ost active.

@@QwertySparrow thats completely wrong. They arent banished they just choose to live seperate. They only meet to reproduce and the males are said to be even more elusive and rare than females and are also described to be excellent hunters
