Apparently nepal has made six out of the seven finals in the HISTORY of this tournament and lost every one. Four of those six times to India. No wonder they were so mad
Also, HELL yeah to women's football, or any kind of football for that matter but especially women's football, getting that kind of an audience, both on-stream and in-person, in that part of the world. The stereotype is that those are cricketing nations, but look at the turnout!
Actually, even in cricket, women have their own version of IPL now (big franchise league) and the turnout for them and international matches are quite a lot, and almost half or more would be women audiences. I'm talking mainly about India. We don't have the Western culture wars between genders here, not to the same degree that is. Maybe partly because society's main focus is still in the first wave of feminism, although it needs to be said, first wave of feminism was there for a long time. From the initial days, rights and votes are given to women and in fact, we have had female heads of government (my state of Bengal currently has one) probably more than most countries in the world. It is the execution of women safety on the ground especially in Northern India and certain sections of the population's outlook on the gender, that is the main issue for India. Edit - Oh, btw, Nepal, unlike most South Asian nations, although do emphasize on cricket but is not a cricketing nation like most other South Asian nations. They prioritise football probably more than cricket over there.
When I saw the thumbnail, I just saw it was 1-1 between Nepal and India. I completely missed the time and just thought there was some significance in these neighbouring countries playing.
For more context regarding the disallowed goal, India scored a brilliant goal at around the 70th min mark, and gradually started returning to the field. But referee whistled for the restart of the game even before any of the players could enter the field. Even some of the coaches, support staff were inside the pitch. The referee disallowed the goal from Nepal, this raged the players and the fans. The fans started throwing projectiles onto the field. Match was halted and after a long period of discussion, the match was resumed after about 140 minutes.
Hey man, after the match ended I checked the laws of the game and I think the goal was correctly disallowed. IFAB says if the team kickoffs while the other team is off the pitch celebrating, the kickoff should be retaken. It further states that all eleven players should be on the pitch in their own half(except the player ko kickoffs) when the game kickoffs. What do you think?
Lmao, never thought I'd see Nepalese women team mentioned here. I'm just happy looking at the support from Nepal to our players. The atmosphere at the stadium was electric and people tuned in to watch the broadcast in millions. Shame that we've now lost our 6th finals in this competition though.
Bit of a non sequitur, but my wife started working a job that has her interacting with Nepalese immigrants all the time and we've had a lot of fun researching and learning stuff about Nepal and its culture.
3:35 As an European, I don't HATE any of my continental neighbours... I mean, I'm not particularly quite a fan of Spain, or France, but its not full-on HATE. However I DID hate Greece, but it was 20 years ago, perfectly justified, and now it receded from hate to dislike after so long...
tell me you're portuguese without telling me you're portuguese. anyway, I have been hating on Greece (from Bangladesh) because of the way they absolutely sneaked a Euro out of drab bus parking for 6 matches.
@@bipolarminddroppings172 - 77 = 95. 95 minutes would be the time supposed to be played, including the 5 minutes of additional time. Hope this helps 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Agreed, not even invested in this but the thought of a goal being disallowed in a professional game because a team "wasn't ready" just makes my blood boil a bit
Dude Zed, i know we all joke about the size of your forehead, but i never truly understood until today...if i'm judging correctly by your cap, your head must be a good 100 times larger than mine. Thankfully that's mostly cranial, not brain. ❤you Zed 💋
Sorry Z this is considered a yellow card everywhere except England. No matter if you get the ball or not, high straight foot is considered dangerous play and hence the yellow
i know it's an unpopular opinion, but i think FIFA needs to get out of the old way of doing things and go to a stopped clock instead of "added time" to correct issues like this, and just use a simplified version of "play on" when a team is attacking as time expires but i got this odd feeling FIFA will refuse it even if it makes 100% sense just to say "NO, we're right" because a game should never be more than say 90(+7)
You are not wrong, but this seems to be clearly a broadcasting issue. Only the Referee has the 'official' clock. So my take of it would be: In this day and age, and especially in a televised international tournament it should be possible to have a stopwatch transmit this publicly and have time stopped or added in 'real time'. (NB: I don't know how exactly stoppage time is determined by refs. halting the clock, or rather rule of thumb decisions...)
just from face value of this vid(with me not going to research further), HOLY HELL India paid everyone to try to maintain their wins for this tournament. ...much like South Korea did with their 2002 World Cup run 🤣🤣
All of South Asia hates India in football. Btw, Nepal lost to Bangladesh in the final. This match was watched by more than 1 MILLION people on the livestream.
You should also watch the obvious handball inside penalty box not being given by the referee. The referee was right in front and saw it clearly, still decided to deny Nepal a penalty. The referee was totally biased. And her attitude showed that.
Relax guys, the match just started 77 minutes late.
As a Nepali living in India, both countries are infamous for tardiness 😅
True lmao

Simple, games like that are looked down on and seen as “not worth watching”
And people said the 90+6 situation is crazy
To be fair this match is clearly after the 90+6 = 99 fiasco happened, sooo....
