Thanks for the tour! I'm a freshman at my high school and we didn't have a library, so I've put a group together and the principal got onboard with my plan, and now we have one! Hopefully one day it'll be as nice as this one :)
I like this video as someone who is about to be a school librarian I like these different activities, and the different creative things you have around your library. I'll be saving this for future reference.
Thank you so much, and I'm glad it was helpful! I plan on trying to upload one library-related video per week, so you can check those out too if you like!
My son is 14 and is autistic he starts school on August 11th and loves to watch videos of school libraries. He loves watching your video and it’s getting home excited for the new school year of 21/22 here in School District of Oconee County SC
I wish there were more RUclips channels and videos centered around high school libraries! I can find elementary stuff, but it doesn't always translate to high school. Even though I really want my channel to focus on books, I may start making more library-related content.
He’s watches your video on his school laptop that he was able to keep over the summer and he was homeschooled last year. We have your video on Favorites List 👍📖📚
Thank you! And yes, they are receptive to it, but sometimes they forget and I have to remind them. I do a librarian orientation with all English classes during the first month of school, so I go over the sign-in procedure then. I would actually love to try another method of tracking students. This is just the method the previous librarian used, and I never changed it. I'm definitely going to look into other ideas!
Can I ask you as I’m taking over an abandoned library 📚 😢 do you only classify fiction books under realistic fiction, fantasy, horror romance and adventure that would be so much easier for me to sort as I have no prior catalogue of genre…… thanks Angela
Hi, Angela! Right now, we classify fiction as fantasy, horror, realistic, romance, sci-fi, mystery, historical fiction, graphic novels, Spanish, or classics. We dispersed the adventure sections into other genres because books from different genres could be considered adventure; it was hard to decide what books actually went into the adventure section. We are actually planning on doing the same process with the historical fiction section soon. That section contains books that are mystery, romance, realistic, etc., so I think we can increase circulation by putting them in those genres (where students are actually going to be looking for a good book in those genres).
Yes, I am! Sorry I'm just now responding to your comment! I actually just posted a video about how I became a school librarian if you're at all interested in that: ruclips.net/video/Tnxrjq72bP8/видео.html
Great, thank you for giving me a tour of your library.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!

This brings back memories! School Libraries for the win!
This was so much fun! I wish I would have used the school library more when I was in school.
Thank you for the tour! Got lots of inspiration for our new little library at my school in Sweden that I'm in charge of organizing!
That's great! We are also getting a new library next year, so I'm excited to start looking for new ideas to try out!
Your library is so beautiful. As a school librarian too, I absolutely take notes for new ideas for mine. 😊
Genre genrifier? ;)

Your library is si nice..conducive for learning..very awesome and creative.
Awww, thank you so much!! My district is building a new high school that should be open in 2 years - I'm hoping I can make that library even better!

LOL I’m reading the court of thorns and roses series right now, I’m on book 2. Oh man, i agree that should not be in a high school library 😂
Great vídeo!
Are you students réceptive to the sign- in sheet? Have you tried other methods of tracking students who are coming in ?
Thank you!

Amazing.
Nice Library! What software do you use for managing books? Biblio 8.26 could be a good option....
We use Follett Destiny. Our whole district uses it, so I actually have no say in it. I really like Follett though; it's all I've ever used.

My school's library is just a room that has tons of school books on multiple small tables.
I actually want to use small tables too like they do at bookstores for displays. I just don't have anywhere to put them!
Please which school library is this??
Is this for all school grades??
the book size is big, it's so different from my country. Some school also cant get big book cause it is expensive
Very true. And some libraries have little to no budget to work with!
