Had the non turbo gpz750. Bought off the showroom floor in 1984. Was a young man in the army, couldn't afford the extra 1500 for the turbo. A bunch of us rode like hell around columbia sc for a year or so. Sold it a few years af ter i got out. Let the good times roll! Thanks for bringing me back
Re-watching old vids cause I’m waiting for your next upload! Glad you got it running just for the sake of it. Hope it made it to a good owner if you still don’t have it
Nicely done. I just bought one myself that is rather weathered but running well. Great job reversing the polarity on the fuel pump and breaking it free! A shop would never do that. Good thinking.
"might turn into a parts bike" Do you have any idea how rare those bikes are? turning that into a parts bike would make the bike gods strike down upon you!
Shame on the person who let this happen to such a beautiful bike. because this was the fastest bike around back then. I owned one back in the 80s and it was pretty much untouchable by anything on the road it wasn't until the 900 ninja came out that I could finally have something that I could compete against. If you ever get it on the road and running keep this in mind above 155 miles per hour you will get a terrible head Shake in the front end I've tried different tire combinations and a fork brace and nothing seem to work that's why I ended up getting rid of it and I bought a Yamaha RZ 500. Also when you are riding and you're going around a corner try not to crack the throttle open too much because that boost pressure will come on Fast and the back end will tend to squirrel out on you. Such a gorgeous bike and so sad to see it in this state please do something to it soon it did not deserve to be treated this way.
I'm crying...I had one back in Millington TN, put a D&D Turbo Pipe on it (unique) the rear fender eliminator and had the local shop double the boost and put the EFM in full race mode...this video may be my old bike...was the fastest bike at NAS Memphis...wife made me sell it after a woman pulled out in front of me and I had to lay it down...DOH!
Just looking at one of these on Ebay. $2500 in about the same shape. Looks like a rocket. I am sure one could super tune it with todays knowledge. Love that Turbo sound!
Omg a 9 year old video lol I can’t believe how passionate you are with RUclips!!!! I doubt you’ll ever see or read this but.......wow!!! Just miss camera girl she really is great for your videos!! I mean right now I just watched where your fixing her 2017 KX 100 tag n brake light on lol But this was interesting to watch such a old video n see how much you and her had grown and how much y’all have accomplished!!!(:
These transmissions would rust up from sitting. Mine plugged up the oil pump screen and starved it for oil. It took 7 years to find the parts to fix it (90's). Its a blast when right. Needs a turbo rebuild now. It will get it!
Sounds good for an old bike. Turbo mania was over in 3 years. The Honda was like a spaceship. Even though it wasn't as fast as the Kawasaki 750, it's regarded as many by being the bike that lost the most money for Honda. Some estimate it cost 300% more to produce than what they sold them for.
+umaxen01 Wow! Really? Are you talking about the CX500 and 650's? Those are the only Honda turbos I'm aware of. Had a couple of friends with the 500's. I loved the look of them, but my buddies said they were real turds!
Eww... wirenuts. I someday want to have an oddball bike again. I had a 1984 Factory fairingless goldwing. I Want an RD350. Right now I am riding a DL1000 which is probably the most vanilla bike I can think of. but damn it is a good riding bike. Rode it 50 miles to pick up my moms Vulcan 900 and felt normal, no aches or pains, rode the vulcan back and my ears are ringing, and my back hurts.
Nice job I really comend u on your skill. Now I bet if you rebuild the Turbo. Add inner cooler. Up the fuel pressure and injectors I could really see this bike surprising a lot of unsuspecting riders
Back in 'the day' I worked for a Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki dealer not far from where you are. The z750T was not actually built by Kawasaki. The turbo was installed by an outside company and then sold under the Kawasaki name and by Kawasaki dealers. Under agreement Kawasaki was NOT liable for the turbo failures.
Ron Your right. I also worked at a Kawasaki/Yamaha shop and the Z1-R was a kit job but the 750 turbo was all Kawasaki. Put both of them together right out of the box.( I also put together the Yamaha XJ650 turbo and a dog it was.)
This is a great video - considering the classic MC, the condition, the complexity of issues, and the swift analysis and problem solving. Must be many more bikes out there like this that need to be saved and preserved, and passed on to the deserving- while you and your wife, and later, your boy, have fun. When you pass the subscription mark of a million and then two million and then...somewhere in there your peeps will beg for merch which you will reluctantly supply for a whole bunch of money every year , saying”well OK, if that is what you guys want - hey - what do you say ? Do you like that font I put on the YT titles - the one, like a hand painted sign - wouldn’t that be cool - maybe a few famous quotes from one of you guys “. I can see it. Like, “It’s Cycletherapy !” Or something.
ill definitely check it out as much as i can and $200 wow nice, yeah 400-500 i wish i could find some that cheap i find all kinds of people on youtube getting bikes that cheap. Here scooters go for $800 i live in kentucky. its hard to find a motorcycle under 2k even if it doesnt run
Great job! May i ask what you paid for it? Where are these in price in a running condition? I have a gpz 750 ut and they dont cost much at all. guess its a bit different with the turbo model
I find my self coming back to this video even after I already fixed my gpz turbo. just got it bout a month ago in the same conditions as this and this video was very helpfull. u can check it out on my videos. thanx a bunch.
Hey bro, I have a 250 ninja (2002). It was my beginners bike and I only use it to teach friends and family. I let a friend borrow it and he dropped it (pretty bad) and now it doesn't turn on. The starter turns but the motor doesn't. What would you suggest I do?

I had a green one when I was 19. Almost got killed many times. lost my license 3 times in two years. loved that bike!
Re-watching old vids cause I’m waiting for your next upload! Glad you got it running just for the sake of it. Hope it made it to a good owner if you still don’t have it
That made my heart happy! Great to see this old warrior fire up again! You're doing god's work there.
Nicely done. I just bought one myself that is rather weathered but running well. Great job reversing the polarity on the fuel pump and breaking it free! A shop would never do that. Good thinking.

Not those needing parts 😂
Wow you came a long way in 8 years! Still was good content though. That turbo sounded AWESOME

Had the pleasure of owning one of these for more than a decade -- finally sold it... BIG mistake... HUGE!
Just looking at one of these on Ebay. $2500 in about the same shape. Looks like a rocket. I am sure one could super tune it with todays knowledge. Love that Turbo sound!

I had an '84 750 GPZ non turbo...such a fun bike at highway speeds...so top heavy though and not a great around town rider.

What?! you have some imagination!...
That in NOT a Z1-R ! a Z1-R Turbo had a RC engineering KIT on.

+stunter956 Glad to help, good luck with your project.
What ended up happening with this bike?
Sounds cool
amazing!
Sounded like the oiler was not working on the turbo, man that thing was loud or was the air box disconnected?
How did you manage to unfreeze the frozen pistons? Let me know. thanks
Superb!
You didn't wind up parting this out, did you? :( There's a J's Garage on Ebay that was selling a lot of 750T parts a while back.
So when I try to start it, should the valve be on the "on" position or "reserve"?
I bought a 1985. 750R I need a color code guide for the main wiring diagram it has colors of each wire highlighted
Awesome! Could you make a update video? :)
Greetings from Norway!
Hi, not a lot of update right now, It's just parked and waiting for the attention it deserves :)
Hey bro, I have a 250 ninja (2002). It was my beginners bike and I only use it to teach friends and family. I let a friend borrow it and he dropped it (pretty bad) and now it doesn't turn on. The starter turns but the motor doesn't. What would you suggest I do?
